There aren’t any players on this team that are a Jauan Jennings type leader/Alpha Male type personality. That’s not a knock against this group; it’s just that sometimes you need a vocal leader and some alpha mentality and this team simply doesn’t have that right now.

Honestly the whole reason people are mad is because William Blount simply has not performed in the first 2 games. William Blount has no business being blown out by Clinton and Karns this year. There is a huge difference in losing in a close, competitive game and getting blown out. These first 2 games haven’t even been close. Combine that with one of (if not THE) most talented team WB has had since 2007 and you can see why people are so frustrated with the coaching.

Honestly if things keep going south at WB and Shad can’t turn things around, I wouldn’t rule out him transferring. Especially since Shad refuses to play him except in garbage time.

Before the season I chalked this up as a win for the Govs. Now I think it would take a miracle for them to win.

My takeaways from Blount: 1. The season is not over. No reason to pack it in. You can’t freak out over 1 game. There are still very winnable games on this schedule. They will probably lose to Karns next week by 2 scores or so but they can still easily get 5 or 6 wins with this schedule as long as they don’t quit. 2. I was extremely disappointed with the coaching last night. Like GWoA said, how you sit on 3 timeouts when your team has no energy or resistance up front is beyond me. 3. Offense is going to be fine, we were just simply not ready to play in the first half last night. Scored 23 in the 2nd half once we started playing on offense like we should’ve been playing the whole time. We have good receivers that can make plays. 4. Shad’s teams simply do not come out fired up at times. Ex: Cleveland 2020, Clinton 2021, Ooltewah 2019, Elizabethton 2020, etc. I can go on…

WB should finish 3rd or 4th in the region this upcoming year. Lots of pieces coming back—very excited about our receivers and we have a new QB who seems to be pretty good. Guys on the team say he’s got a really good arm.

If WB doesn’t win at least 6 games next year, something is terribly wrong.

Very glad they moved WB to Region 1. The new classifications are better than the original ones IMO.

I think Cleveland will give them a game. Might be a shock to DB faithful. Not saying Cleveland wins, but they’ve got some talent.
