Maybe not this year but Mckenzie and Huntingdon are both very young. Fillies have 2 junior starters and the rest are freshman and sophomores. I have to say it is very impressive the run that summertown is on in three sports. Is this a run of very good athletes or do y’all have kids that transfer in to play? I’m not trying to throw shade I’m just curious for a school that size to be that good is impressive.

Yes very excited the fillies are in this new district. I will not miss some of the 1A opponents we use to play. Definitely makes for more competitive and exciting basketball.

I have much respect for our coaching staff and think they do a great job, but I sure would love to see them mix it up.

A new and much more challenging schedule will payoff come playoffs I believe. Our regular season schedule has definitely hurt come playoffs time the last few years. By the way we ran into some pretty impressive teams over the last several years in the playoffs.

I believe Huntingdon will be better than everyone is expecting come playoff time. I think it comes down to the mustangs and westview out west in 2A or a Memphis school. Definitely wide open in 2A now that 1A is loaded.

Not many coaches out there that are 24/7 365 type coaches. You definitely have to have parents that are completely bought in to that way of thinking. It’s extremely challenging when you are at a smaller school, you are spread thin on athletes and most parents aren’t going to buy into that mentality when kids play multiple sports in my opinion.

Yes the upcoming Freshman and Sophomore classes have lots of talent. Most likely will see a freshman or two getting playing time.

The Mustangs schedule has to be one of the toughest we have ever had on paper. I disagree I think the Mustangs will be better this season and the schedule will prepare them for the playoffs better than the past few schedules. They will be young at spots so they will have to grow up fast but they have several key players back.

Yea that schedule may be a problem for y’all come playoffs. I agree it didn’t help Huntingdon at all the last few years prepare for playoffs.

I agree that post play is a concern for Mckenzie but I don’t think it will matter much in 1A next season.

Yes it will be some great basketball. Huntingdon will be in that mix in two years also. Excited about the young talent!

How many seniors did westview have that played?

Yes north Greene and Mckenzie 1 and 2 next season in 1A 2A in the west next season 1) Loretto 2) Westview 3) Gibson Co.

In a great game I think loretto gets it done in the 4th meeting of the season. 52-50

Congrats on a great season. Yes Bennett has been a great player, but I think y’all will clearly be preseason favorites next season in 1A. Depth has been a strength for Mckenzie this season so losing Bennett and Callahan will hurt with depth and some inside presence.

Congrats to Summertown. That is a great atmosphere you all have. I have now seen summertown twice and Gibson co. three times and Mckenzie 3x. Before tonight I may have had a different opinion but after seeing summertown again I think they are the favorite to win it all. I would say they are 10-15 pts better than Gibson co. They are very balanced and very unselfish. They can beat you several different ways.

I agree on the coaching and I didn’t realize Auvenshine played a lot last year, my bad. Yes she was one I was thinking about.

With all due respect this is not the same Mckenzie team as last season. Y’all have two sophomores that didn’t play and two freshman that have made a huge impact. Davis (district mvp) as a freshman speaks to the different team y’all are. Wilkins inherited a very talented team. He is a good coach but they have more talent than they have had in a while.
