That’ll be a great tourney. WV has the longest running tourney in Tn (The Lions Tourney) at Christmas and they’re a Nike Elite recognized school. I’m sure they’ll be traveling out West to play in the Nike tourney before Christmas. They don’t go out West every year and I’d like to see them compete over there too. That’s a great field of Tn teams.

Pulling for the Bulldogs and what a turnaround team. East Nashville is loaded and it’ll be a tough win if Milan can get by them.

Congrats to all of the Ms. Basketball winners announced today. Proud for 1A Savannah Davis (Mckenzie) and congrats to 2A Karly Weathers (Loretto). Note: I’m biased and would’ve voted for Jada Harrison (Westview) in 2A, since she’s 6 & 0 against Ms. Basketball nominees this year, but I’m being honest. But everyone that won the title in their respective classifications are great players and I congratulate you. Also, congrats to 3A Brooklyn Crouch (Upperman) and 4A Jennifer Sullivan (Bearden). I don’t follow the privates that well, but hats off to them too.

South Gibson is on the rise. They definitely have a different mentality down there. SG, SS snd Fayette Ware. Top 3 in West next year I believe (no order).

Yes it would. With Mckenzie basically bringing everyone back, you might even get them in the mix with their speed if that happened in the West. Everyone loves power matchups during the regular season, but scheduling both for girls & boys makes it difficult to put certain games on a fixed schedule. WV did a weekend mashup a few years back and had GC, Loretto, and Greenfield come to Westview for basically a couple of play days. It was fun and the fans loved it.

Congrats to Bearden on the 4A Championship. Great team. Maybe WV and Bearden can hook up next year somewhere. That would be an interesting matchup and I believe WV would accept the game, if offered. Just saying. Bearden’s post had an awesome series. Congrats on the title.

No doubt. That’s a great group of young ladies and the freshman will be a force for the next 3 years. Congrats on getting there and getting the Silver.

Thanks. Loretto was the toughest team we played in Tennessee this year. That’s nothing against anyone else, but just direct comments from the girls. We needed this one in a bad kind of way. We hope to make it back next year with a chance to defend it. Hope being the key word.

Finally!!! Let’s take a couple of weeks off and start getting ready for 2022/2023. Been a fun tournament and everyone up there was friendly that I met. These officials need more state-wide consistency, but all of our games were called fair. If they’re going to let us play at the Boro, then let us play like that during the season. This was the most physical state tourney I’ve seen and I’ve been to all of them over the last 10 years. Westview needed this Gold with all the bad luck we’ve had over the last 5-6 years concerning injuries. We need our next post player to develop, but we bring all the rest back. The interaction on T has been fun too.

Congrats to Upperman for withstanding to the pressure and also congrats to South Side for making it that deep and getting the Silver. The big girl burying those 2 threes saved them and the radio said she was 1 for 10 prior to today’s game. She made 2 when they needed them.

Gleason fought hard, just couldn’t make enough plays. Mckenzie is the favorite and Davis should be Ms. Basketball. If Wayne County keeps it close and if McKenzie gets in foul trouble, Wayne County will become the late game favorite. Hoping the Rebels get that Gold Ball.

I believe they are. The Nike tournament gave them a lot of confidence in playing up, not to mention playing Gibson County & Loretto in State, to see about all styles of play. In preseason, we handled Blackman fairly well and they were super athletic. From that Nike tourney, the 2 teams that we beat out there have won their 3A&4A championships in Arizona, the LA-California team that beat us is playing for their State Championship, and the Chicago,IL team that beat us lost, but finished as the 17th ranked team as stated by a national service. They’ll start dialing in York tomorrow and game planning. Everyone in the crowd today saw the late game heroics this afternoon from York. I’m pretty confident that Coach Haskins will drill that into them. Thanks for the support from everyone. At this point, we always pull for each other from our area. I was happy to see a large number of WV fans/students supporting and cheering on our neighbors today.

York has escaped 2 times in this tourney and have broken everyone's AA bracket. I anticipate a very good game on Saturday and their #24 is a very good post player in there. After surrendering 15 points in the 1st, I was glad our defense held Alcoa to 17 over the next 3 quarters. Hopefully, we will play our best game of the tournament. Great crowd support for WV tonight, but Alcoa travels pretty light. I was expecting them to have a larger student presence, but they didn't. That's 2 games in a row I've watched them and their student body hasn't been there. WV is focused and it's a different vibe this year with this group, but that's a good thing. #gochargers

Dresden is playing “Cinderella” and their post play was dominant today. Mckenzie is the favorite to win it all, but Gleason won’t give it to them. Tomorrow should be a great day of basketball.

Westview is pulling for Dresden, Gleason and Mckenzie to advance. We’re all within 20 miles from each other in the county (Mckenzie is partially in Weakley County as well). I know a lot of WV fans are going early to support them and are just making a day of it.

Those inside girls for Alcoa are tough. I believe it’ll be a great game and very close. Hopefully, WV can keep it close and squeak it out in the 4th. A very different Alcoa team than the one before Christmas.
