  1. I have been attending H'ville games for over 20 years so I think can speak to this year. Up front we do not have the size and strength of past teams. Like most years we do not have the speed of our opponents. Defensively we have not been good all year. Even in our wins we have given up a lot of points and yards. Offensively when the year started we had 2 running backs (Roper and Gregory) that I had confidence in. Problem is that they play the same position. C.J. has really came on and so have Dathan and Spencer A so I think our offense can score. We cannot show any Friday night, play mediocre and have a chance to win. I thought when the season started that if we made the playoffs it would be quite an achievement. We do not have top 6 in the region talent much less top 2 or 3. I do not always agree with Coach Hatfield on who he plays but what I do know is that he has taken us to the finals twice with overachieving teams. If you will look at the last 20 years H'ville has not produced very many D1 players and you can't name more that 3 or 4 from the two times we went to the finals that went D1. If the guy can't coach then how did we go to the finals twice and at one time beat the Green Wave 7 straight times. This year Station Camp is undefeated last time I checked, Dickson County is pretty good, Antioch is pretty good, Beech is probably going to make the playoffs. While I am disappointed when we lose I still think if we are fortunate enough to get in the playoffs I think we can make some noise. Remember last year we were at least a 2 touchdown underdog on the road at Franklin and won.
  2. To answer your question Hatfield has been to the finals 2 times losing to Riverdale and losing to Oakland. They also went 3 rounds a couple of years ago losing to Franklin in OT when they went for 2 and lost by 1. That was the year they were behind Centennial 21-0 in the first quarter and came back to win 28-27 when Lawson Watson hit Andrew Liyana with a touchdown pass on 4th and 11. I don't believe for 1 minute that Gallatin will not be ready to play when they play Hendersonville and I expect a great effort from both teams.
  3. If Hendersonville loses their last 2 and Gallatin wins their last 2 they would end up tied for 4th and Gallatin would win the tiebreaker provided that they are the only ones tied. Hendersonville plays Hunters Lane in the finale and Gallatin plays McGavock.
  4. First of all I have a lot of respect for Gallatin, it's tradition and history. They are just 1 year removed from being 10-0 with 44 seniors. I think it is players. I do not believe that they have the players they did 10 years ago consistently every year. With all of the new schools I don't know if they will ever get back to the dominant days. Both Hendersonville and Gallatin face some of the same issues with the region they are in that are facing superior athletic talent every week (not necessarily superior football talent). Last Friday night at Antioch Hendersonville fights the rear ends off in the first half only to see Antioch's quarterback run about 40 yards across the field, throw a hail mary and see a 6-4 wide receiver out jump everybody and score and tie the game at the half. Antioch's offense consists of shotgun snap, the quarterback runs around and makes a play. Neither Gallatin or Hendersonville has that type of player this year. I think it is just a different time and I just hope that we can get an all Sumner County region some day. Having less 50 people on the visitors side 3 or 4 times a year stinks! I just cannot believe that Gallatin will not be up for the Commandos next Friday night. I think it will be close hard fought game and I think that the team that wins the time of possession battle will win the game.
  5. Same story for H'ville as every week. Must move the ball early and take advantage of opportunities. I don't think they will stop White but they can't allow him 250 yards like he got last week. Roper needs to have a big night. Expect a high scoring game.
  6. I think Gallatin's season will come down to having to beat Hendersonville to make the playoffs. Gallatin has the same problem as Hendersonville in a lot of games this year. They do not have the athletes that have had in previous years and when you face Antioch, Smyrna, Overton, Mt Juliet, Hunters Lane you need plenty. Hunters Lane is very good on defense and usually good enough on offense. If Gallatin keeps it in the teens they have a chance to win.
  7. Same story for H'ville in every game they have lost this year. Missed opportunities. They run for over 160 yards in the first half and all they have to show for it is a 7-7 tie. 2 long missed field goals contribute heavily. The difference in athletic ability is there every game. Antioch was bigger and faster just like most teams they play. On Antioch's side I was impressed with Davis, Wooten and McAdoo on offense. I think McAdoo is playing out of position on defense. Looks like he is playing defensive tackle. H'ville ran for almost 300 yards on the night and a lot of it was right at him. One more thing, Roper has to touch the ball more, he had 99 yards on 9 carries including a 50 yarder in the final minute which got them in position to score their final touchdown. H'ville played very hard and I thought going in if they held Antioch to 21 I would have taken that. They can't continue to miss opportunities if they expect to make the playoffs.
  8. this setup would make sense, nothing personal against the Nashville schools but they are a gate killer. Glencliff, Hillwood don't bring more than 50 people while McGavock, Antioch, Overton and Hunters Lane maybe 200. H,ville would be guaranteed a good gate at every game.
  9. I guess you will not have to worry about being shocked. H'ville wins 56-21. Hendersonville was up 28-0 at the end of the first quarter and coasted from there. It did not matter what they ran, it worked. In the second half when they got up 35 the continuous running clock went into effect. They actually took a knee in the last 30 seconds inside the 5 yard line. They played everybody in the second half and a variety of players scored and the backup QB Brandon Hall even threw a TD pass.
  10. Roper did not play tonight, has a foot injury, was in a walking boot on the sideline. Probably out another week maybe 2. Hendersonville wins the game 35-27. Lots of turnover, back and forth game. H'ville scored twice in the last 5 minutes to win it. Watson had a pretty good game throwing and they were actually able to run the ball tonight with Gambino in the first half(he was injured scoring a touchdown on the final play of the first half) and Gregory and his backup Tate in the second half. Key play in the game with about 7 minutes to go Childress breaks one for McGavock, goes about 60 yards, the last man for Hendersonville punches the ball out and H'ville recovers. Childress is injured on the play and did not return. He must have had at least 150 yards tonight. H'ville needed this one.
  11. Help me understand the mess at Hendersonville. They had the number #4 in the region last year losing by 7 To Gallatin, 5 to Antioch and 2 to Hunters Lane. They return their starting quarterback and arguably their 2 best running backs (Roper and Gregory). By the way they did go on the road in the playoffs last year and did something that the Green Wave could not do, WIN! Gallatin did lose 44 seniors if memory serves me right. Hopefully everybody they play will underestimate them because they have been to the finals 2 more times than anyone else in the region in the last 10 years.
  12. Not close, TCA will beat anybody at the tournament with their No. 2 pitcher
  13. Beech beat Soddy 5-2 Beech beat Hume Fogg 9-2 In the Soddy Game the leadoff batter for Beech hit a homerun off of Waters leading off the game. Later Blevins hit a two run shot that traveled about 2 miles for Soddy. Big play in the game was Soddy making 2 errors on 1 play that allowed Beech to score 2 runs in the 4th inning. I have never seen anybody who generates the bat speed that Blevins does. She is an incredible talent.
  14. Brentwood needs a half court slow paced game to win. If this is a fast game I favor Northeast.
  15. Good game! The size and strength of WC prevailed but NE certainly gave them a run. #23 for NE was phenomenal but WC double teamed her in the 4th qtr and slowed her down. Jenkins was unstoppable inside and is maybe the best I have ever seen with her footwork in the post. Both teams showed great class and sportsmanship. Everything was good except for the idiot fan I sat next to in the WC section. I thought he was going to stroke out in the 4th quarter. Officiating I thought was good, couple of bad calls both ways but overall consistent. WC shot many more free throws than NE because of the inside oriented style they play.
  16. No excuses, Hunters Lane was just the better team tonight. Too many mistakes and when Hendersonville could not run between the tackles in the 2nd half you could see the writing on the wall. Hunters Lane has: Class team Class coaching staff Pathetic fan support, when the game started Hendersonville had 4 to 5 times more fans in the stands. The Hunters Lane kids deserve better than that but typical of Metro schools it probably will not get any better any time soon. Good luck against Ravenwood.
  17. I think everyone is predicting way too many points in this one. With the coaches knowing each other I think it will be something like 14-12.
  18. Hunters Lane better on offense Antioch better on defense If Antioch scores twice they are going to be hard to beat. Hunters Lane has more speed than anybody. If they play I'll take Hunters Lane. It just seems like their year.
  19. Observations from tonight. I had never seen Campbell play and was not impressed. I don't think he had any catches. Great play early in the game by H'ville DB Wes Rivera. He catches #19 from behind inside the 5, strips the ball and recovers on the 1. This was after about a 60 yard run. What happened to Frohock in the 2nd half, I don't think he had a carry and Franklin threw on almost every down. When Hendersonville gets that ball control offense going they can be hard to deal with. The last drive took over 6 minutes and a lot of plays. Darrien Roper is really coming on, what a sophomore.
  20. Low scoring game The thing that scares you about Hunters Lane is that they look ordinary on offense for a lot of plays and then Clay or the other guy goes 80+. Tremendous speed. Somebody wins in OT 17-14
  21. Antioch, very good on defense/an adventure on offense Dickson very good overall DC 17 Antioch 7
  22. Very simply Gallatin is the better team Gallatin 21 Ravenwood 7
