Yep. Cade Maupin would of never got a chance at ETSU if he had stayed at DB. Prolly several other examples. Coaches would or wasted his talent. Thing about Sullivan County is there's only 3 schools: East, West Ridge, and DB. None of these teams ever do anything meaningful. Have to move counties logistically to play at Betsy, Hampton, or Greeneville. So many weak coaching staffs in upper east TN outside those schools. Really have to live in Carter County, Greene County, or any of the Knox area counties.

Good kickers can be hard to find in 2A. Also harder to justify a field goal unit when you don't have depth like 3A-6A.

Seems Boone's depth ultimately won this one. Hampton might need to work on its passing game a bit too, maybe some trick plays. Need to do better in these late game offensive situations. Also need better 2 pt conversion plays

Alcoa lost by 3 points to probably the best public school team in the state this year. East Nash lost 30-12 to a .500 6A team that's not going to even make the playoffs. Difference.

Alcoa fans are less annoying than East Nash fans imo. If Alcoa moves up, East Nash more consistently takes gold balls. I imagine they are also pulling all the "tricks" Alcoa does, but not as successfully. Knoxville has a population of 187,000. Alcoa itself has 10,000. Nashville has a population of 700,000. Not sure how a school named "East Nashville" has the enrollment numbers to be 3A.
