It seems as though the greenback "faithful" have unrealistic expectations for their program. Not being mean but greenback is a 1a school. Most 1 a schools are stepping stones for coaches and have to settle for a young aspiring head coach. No doubt, Greg Ryan is the best hire for this position but it seems he ruffled some feathers that may prohibit that from happening. Personally, I think Rayl would be a good hire. He's young, coached and played at a high level, and has roots near greenback. The argument that you shouldnt hire a 1st year head coach is stupid. Who hired GR to his first head coaching gig? You get my point. That argument should be saved for Cleveland, Maryville, etc.

Is Greg Ryan interested in coming back? Is he welcome back if he wants to? If Yes, this seems like an easy decision

I don't know this for certain but I assume that they just renewed a contract this year and it worked best for both team's to start this way in year 1 of the new 2 year contract.

I think the Cherokees will go 5-5 with a chance to host a playoff game. I'm glad to see they ended the rival game with Mcminn Central. I think it will help both teams

I think Coach Rang will have success here and I think this is where he will lay down roots if given the chance to.

I have also heard rumor of Ryan wanting to come back to greenback. Do not know if he will be welcomed back or not. I hope they get the hire right

Situations and Coaches like this are the norm in way too many communities. The Coach ought to put every effort into giving each student athlete the best chance to succeed. Seems like Coach Tapp might just be in this for himself. I think the opposite of some of the posters on this thread. I think harriman, if coached and approached correctly, should be the 2nd best football team in roane county.

i am surprised at how long this job has been open with no announcement yet. This speaks volumes about the state of cleveland politics. This should be an attractive job. i would've thought that Coach Barger wouldve been considered for the promotion. There were some quality coaches that put in for this job but making the "pretty" hire will once again have the blue raiders looking for another head ball coach in 2-3 years.
