  1. Which former alumni are you talking about sequatchie, the one in Tiptonville or the one in Woodbury? Both are great coaches and related I may add.
  2. t money has to be a student because the comment about the refs cheating is ridiculous. Make all the excuses you want but the fact is LC beat Trenton. Plus this was during a string when the falcons were not playing well. Last night was one of the better games they have played as far as hustle, execution and team play goes. If they continue to improve other teams had better look out.
  3. t money I was at the LC and Trenton game and bottom line is LC beat Trenton. I did not see any cheating by the refs. If you look over the last few years Lc has had Trenton's number what are they 4 and 1 in the last 5 games.
  4. Antwan I agree with you on that my point was how Ceaser made the point of at least 5 years experience and how he felt it was a mistake to hire a 28 year old even with college playing experience. I was not ready at 22 but was IMO at 25, 26. I was a finalist in alot of jobs where I did not get it and I felt age instead of coaching knowledge cost me the job between 25-29. That is my 2 cents take it for what it is worth.
  5. Ceaser, we tend to disagree on alot of things, generally political, and this is one. Even though I feel 22 is to young, experience will not automatically dictate how you will do as a head coach. Age is a number, maturity level and knowledge of the game will count greatly. I got my first HC job at 29 and it has worked out well so far. I have a brother who got a HC job this year at 28! Not sure if it is at the school you are talking about or not, but sounds like that area. It will be a tough rebuilding job but he is up for the challenge. Finally, I will have to end by saying something I firmly believe, it is not the age of the man that earns him knowledge and respect but the things he learns, the obstacles he faces and how he handles them.
  6. My list for Region 7 looks like this. 1. Lake Co. 2. Union City 3. Mckenzie 4. Bruceton 5. West Carroll 6. Gleason 7. South Fulton 8. Greenfield Top 4 are very close but I will go with my favorite team to win it!! Here is why (they return 21 of 22 starters back from last year's 8-3 squad). Will be led by All-State QB Brandon Springer and a stingy D. As long as they stay healthy they will be fine.
  7. I hope Hampton has a good team this yeartown sake) because as much as we have had to hear about them on this board the last few weeks there should be alot of bulletinboard material for the teams they play. I hope they are not overconfident because they have moved down from AA to A b/c there are alot of great Football teams this year in A my guess is Hampton will find the going tough in the playoffs with the likes of Greenback, Oneida Coalfield and Midway on the otherside and if they are fortunate to make it to the semis a matchup with Trousdale Co or South Pittsburg will be even more a challenge. IMO the Hampton is not the best AA to move down to A when you consider Trousdale Co. coming from AAA where they were in the semis a few years ago and then throw in Union City and McKenzie out west. So in closing good luck to Hampton but could we please limit the Hampton threads??
  8. You forgot Dresden and Humbolt!! This is one tuff Region here is how I think it may play out. Undertstand I said MAY b/c some much can and will happen in this region before week 10 1. Huntingdon 2. Martin Westview 3. Milan 4. Humbolt 5. USJ 6. Trenton Peabody 7. Dresden 8. Gibson Co.
  9. Marion County (92) Beat Brentwood Academy in the state finals when no one gave them a chance. Also the Warriors (95) Led by Eric Westmoreland defeated the likes of 5A teams Soddy-Daisy, Rhea Co. also a 4A team in Shelbyville and add DII Private Baylor also on their way to the state title. That group of players formed a mini dynasty as Marion Co. went 56-1 with 3 state titles during those seniors 4 years.
  10. Getright, Lake County did not lose there QB as a matter of fact he was only a Sophomore so the region will see him for 2 more years. They have 21 starters out of 22 positions returning plus a LB that started every game as a So. but missed all but one game of the 2004 with a broken arm. The down side is that Lake Co. does not have alot of depth and injuries could play a factor. Plus the region will be tuff to win and you will probably face Union City and McKenzie again in the playoffs. They will be competitive this year though and who knows how it will turn out? It should be a fun year.
  11. Temple being put in the top ten is a bit of a stretch. They are a relatively new program and must prove themselves through a ten schedule against South Pitt etc. and Coalfield could be a top ten team before all is said and done when making a list you usually leave someone off.
  12. Alright I'll take a 1st shot 1. Trousdale Co. (powerhouse in A in the 90's, been playing AAA competitively, great coach and tradition) 2. JCS ( have been solid the last few years could go even farther with USJ now in AA) 3. Union City( a AA title contender not too long ago, alot of seniors, drawback is there are two to three top 15 teams in their own region Lake Co.,Mckenzie and Bruceton, throw West Carrol in the mix also just to make it interesting) 4. Mt. Pleasant (not sure what they have coming back but ranked based on last year's accomplishments) 5. Lake Co. ( 21 starters returning off of an 8-3 team. If they stay healthy could crack the top 3) 6. South Pittsburg( The sleeper, they get two players back, one was All-State as a freshman. will always have good skill players and alot of tradition) 7. McKenzie( third of the three- top dogs in region 7, great QB but o-line and dependability of WR's a question. Alot of drops in the spring, Need to improve defensively also, but they will sho a passing game very few A teams in W. TN have seen before) 8. Hampton (Move down from AA should be shot in the arm for a solid football team, Have made the playoffs previously but had trouble advancing, time will tell if moving to A will change the bulldogs playoff fortunes) 9. Greenback (A fixture in the A rankings and playoffs for a long time Coach Satterfield will field another competitive ball club) 10. TIE Fayette Academy & Collinwood ( First Fayette went to the Semis 2 years ago and the 2nd round last year before losing to USJ, return the skill players from last year but must replace some up front. Collinwood has a solid and from what I heard defeated McKenzie in a spring scrimmage, could be another sleeper) ***Honorable Mention*** These teams just missed the cut, could only have 10 and I still managed to sneek in 11!!!! TCA, Whitwell, Harriman, Cloudland and Gordonsville
  13. Out West I think it will be wide open. In Region 7 you have Lake County, McKenzie and Union City that should be tuff to handle. In Region 8 Fayette Academy, JCS and TCA all should be strong. It should be a fun year to watch single A ball in West TN b/c I think any of those six could make it to the boro.
  14. OCCHSfan maybe not in 2000 but if you look back at the history of the schools Lake Co. has played well against UC. So maybe this game will become a good rivalry once again.
  15. Congrats Chad from West Tn!
