  1. 0 turnovers in the playoffs this year for the Wildcats. that is a great turn around in itself because we had at least one if not more in every regular season game.
  2. Heard Desmund Horne is still hurt any word on his ability to play friday? Heck of a game by Shawn Prevo Oak Ridge is going to have to find a way to stop the run regardless of who is back that. Good luck to both teams; can't wait for this game to get started.
  3. Its amazing how you shut down the run and force them to pass that you can control the game. By the way thanks for all of the poster board material. Good luck next week against Whitehaven... oh wait you will be sitting at home. Well as an OR fan we want to extend and invitation to all the Blackman to the Maryville OR thread to smack talk us say we are cupcakes and give us even more motivation. Congrats to Riverdale on a good season. Your players never gave up and played their hearts out; you have a lot of class over there. You guys got a good thing going in the Boro and are going to be really good these next couple of years hopefully we will see you later in the playoffs next year. I have a lot of respect for Riverdale and your program. Just sorry we couldn't have met in the Semis like it used to be.
  4. Just saying Oak Ridge isn't as soft as everyone thinks. The majority of our losses are because we literally got out our double barrel 45 and shot not one but both of our feet off in some cases. Turnovers kill but Oak Ridge hasn't turned it over in the playoffs, which is exactly why the wildcats have won. It'll be a great game, but a close one (unlike most think) between two battle tested teams. Good luck to both teams.
  5. As long as we are comparing loses. Lose #1 Farragut in overtime on a Interception in which the QB stared down the WR had Oak Ridge run the ball like they had done all night. Oak Ridge lead this game all night until the last minute; it is quite possible that Oak Ridge would have won; this is a team that Riverdale barely beat in a comeback effort. Lose #2 Maryville- Oak Ridge turned the ball over 7 times (just about every RB fumbled) and QB had multiple INT). Maryville never drove the ball more than 40-45 yards to score. Lose #3 - Hardin Valley. regardless of what fans may think Hardin Valley is one of the biggest schools in the Knox Co. area and with only two years of varsity experience they are only going to get better. A late INT thrown to HV best athlete on the same route that they threw the INT from the Farragut game. Had the Wildcats scored they would have won that game. The win against Anderson Co. is the most impressive. Riverdale fans say the QB can pass. Oak Ridge beat the team with the QB that hold the majority of the passing records in the state. This is one reason the majority of Oak ridge fans aren't worried about Riverdales passing game. (not saying the QB is good just putting some facts out there).
  6. Is the QB a little bit of a scrambler? because that helps Riverdale even more. I haven't seen any tape on Riverdale I just know what you run on offense and defense.
  7. The wing T is a multiple motion offense that relies mainly on play action to get the quarterback outside of the pocket and they will mainly run waggle plays out of it. When you run the wing T you set the pass by running the ball and there are very few straight back drops. After you stop the run they have to pass and that will usually mean man coverage that way you can keep the running backs honest. This will for the ends to play contain and if they do and stretch the play to the sidelines that limits the amount of receivers open down-field. Oak Ridge ran the wing T for 8 years so I know it very well. One game against over three hundred yards is great and that usually happens a few times a season but not regularly in the wing T. did this quarterback have any other big games passing?
  8. I love the history between this two schools. even though Riverdale holds the overall record Oak Ridge one the last one. I played in three of the games in this series lost two and won the last one it is a great rivalry. But as good as Riverdale is its hard to stop a team on a winning streak regardless of how close of games Oak Ridge has played in the play offs. This Wildcat team is starting to believe in themselves and they fight to the bitter end. Rocky Fluud is running well, offense isn;t turning the ball over, and defense is playing physically. The wing T is a great offense but only if you can throw out of it. Can't wait to make the trip to the Boro. Im going with the upset 21-17 Cats.
  9. Someone should just call Ravenwood's AD for him and send a resume overt here. Then we get someone that actually wants to be in Oak Ridge.
  10. I know that cookeville has a big and fast running back but what are some of their other players to watch during the game? any good WR's, QB, LB's maybe?
  11. This is a great list of candidates I would also include tommy Laurendine though
  12. He wants to come back. He was the leading candidates in 2005 for the position. His kids graduated from here. He loved coaching here. He loves rebuilding programs and its obvious we need it right now. This a high profile job. Why would he not wana come back.
  13. I'm gonna through a name out there just for fun, but before i do i want to list credentials for both candidates. Candidate #1: Won a state championship this year but was only an offensive line coach. Has never had a head coaching position. Has bounced around knoxville area schools for the past 4 years. Candidate #2 Head coach for Oak Ridge when they won their last state championship Has taken a team to the semifinals the past two years in 4A Took the same team to the quarterfinals three years ago Candidate #1: Ron Grey Candidate #2: Joe Gaddis Facts and statistics don't happen by chance. Lets hope the administrators make the right decision this time.
  14. The article is very interesting and it very objective. However my only disagreement is the size. DB has just a many 6 foot and over guys as Oak Ridge does; plus size only goes so far. We might be big but that doesn't necessarily translate into strength and speed. Also the article shows how loaded DB is on offense and defense. They have a lot of their players coming back from injury, which means the are back almost to full speed. However this is Oak Ridge vs DB and anything can happen; in this series there have been blow outs, there have been shootouts, and there have been defensive dominate games, can't wait to see what happens.
  15. I am a former player that that stays updated on the situation in Oak Ridge. You don't have to be a great analitical person in Oak Ridge anymore to understand the offense and defense. Heres a little hint for all the DB fans and players when you stop Oak Ridge's running game watch for the offensive coordinater to through the fade route a few times in a row. Oak Ridge isn't hard to scout at all.
  16. Corey Booker held the al time leading rusher record for 2 years and Spencer Gulmire broke Corey's record his senior season. As for what the players see and read on here, if they don't like what is said on here then go out and prove me and the rest of the people wrong. Go out and give DB everything you got and make this game one of the classic games in this rivalry. I hope they take what they read on here and use it as motivation. As for Xs and Os DB looks to have the edge on defense against a weaker offensive Oak Ridge line; Oak Ridge is at a disadvantage with an offensive coordinater who struggles to call plays to sustain a drive let only put points up on the board. DB also looks to have an edge on offense against a weaker defensive line and linebacking core. Don't let Oak Ridge's 2-0 record fool you. Their first game was against a young and struggling 3A team and a weak Bradley Co. team. If DB can control the ball on offense and smash oak ridge in the mouth on defense the Wildcats will be in for a very long night. DB-35 OR-7
  17. I just don't understand where this article came from. I can't really see the KNS calling Stanton Stevens and asking him about these subjects. I mean we are all geared up for another exciting football season and this comes out about race. This article along with many other incidents have occurred unexpectedly in his tenure at a school that hasn't been known for showing its rear end. I feel sorry for the administration for having to deal with this. I am sad to say that as a former player, who grew up loving Oak Ridge football and longing to see the day when i could wear that Oak Ridge jersey; i no longer want to attend Oak Ridge football games. So many players and coaches have worked so hard to build this illustrious program, its sad to see that a grown man can't take responsiblity for his actions.
  18. This is what i don't understand about what you said. first you start off by saying that someone who played with Stanton and he doesn't even like what going on at Oak Ridge? I don't understand how it strengthens your arguement. I played for Stanton, I know first hand what goes on behind the scenes and its not our record on the field last season, but the track record the players are starting to develope off the field and what people don't know that is going on off the field between coaches and players. Its now starting to get out and its piling up and thats what people don't like. Under Gaddis and Lussier (I also played for Lussier) you knew what was expected of you. You knew how to act in public. you knew what to do and what not to do in any given situation at any given time. You don't have that with Stanton. As for your last comment any player how has ever played for Oak Ridge knows the Oak Ridge tradition and what it means to the program. You take on responsiblity to carry that tradition on when you step out on that field. It is an insult to ever say that to any player in Oak Ridge history no matter if you are saying it to the 5th string tight end or Shaun Summers, Jackie Pope, Corey Booker, Mike Caldwell or any player who has won or played for a State Championship. I am deeply disappionted in your lack of respect for this program and anyone invovled in it.
  19. That cumberland co. comment wasn't directed at you it was direct at JetPride. The behind the scenes things that are going on are taking money from the program and players to spend on t-shirts and gear that the coaches wear for his friends in Oak Ridge. The bill exceeded $8,000. The fact alone that he is taking money that is suppose to be for the player is unacceptable. Plus, arguments among coach threatening to fire one of the best and most well prepared coaches (Barry Saunders) on the staff for no reason at all. Let players quit for a week then coming back the very next week and starting them. Pushing and cursing opposing coaches (Clinton coach). Physical arguments with different parents and different player one being at Oak Ridge. And the list goes on.... Its not just the fact that we had a winning season its a multitude of incidents that have piled up not only at Oak Ridge and Austin East. Either way it is grounds for the pink slip. Its just a matter of who has the courage to step up and say something.
  20. I'm sorry i had forgotten that i didn't mean to misinform anyone. However, my point still stands that Bailey could still attempt more than a handful of games in any season if he honestly and truly cared about the student/athletes and how they are being treated.
  21. Bailey is nothing like Mr. Helton was. Mr. Helton knew how to please just about everybody. At that time Oak Ridge was consistantly ranked in the top 100 schools in the nation and since his departure we have not been. Seems a little strange to me. Also Mr. Helton would be seen at just about any sporting event at any given point in the school year. How is it that Bailey only shows up to one or two games of each sport. Same position, same duties, different results.
  22. Its not just the fact that we went 8-4 its all the behind the scenes actions that most Oak Ridgers are upset about and its the fact that the players can do whatever they want and get away with it. The fact that Coach Stevens has had multiple altercations with both players and other coaches is unacceptable. As for the National Championships I would challenge the team that you are a fan of to player an AP Top 25 high school team. Why not Maryville they are in your backyard. I'm positive they would mop up the field with your best team in the last decade.
  23. Its funny how you can read a post and tell who is and isn't and Oak Ridge fan. Yes we expect to go 15-0 every year because if you don't you set yourself up to fail. The fact that some people at the beginning of the season don't expect to play for a state championship shows how much they prepare or even care about their programs of their programs history. You play like you practice and you practice like how you prepare. As for the Coach Gaddis comment, He was one of the best Coach to ever Coach at Oak Ridge or in the state of Tennessee. His losses in the 90's were to quality teams like Kelly Holcome from Lincoln Co. or Fernando Bryant at Riverdale or even Teddy Gaines at Kinsport D-B. All three of those were standouts in high school, college, and the pros. And i don't have to add that we won a National Championship in '58 and beat two teams with players who went on to win the Heisman Trophey.
  24. The people who need to step up and say something to Dr. Bailey and the School Board are the ones who deal and work will Coach Stevens on a daily basis such as the assistant coaches. Their opinions of him carry more weight because they know how he acts one on one with the players and other coaches.
  25. It doesn't matter if anyone runs against them now or ever because the damage has been done and there are so many loops you have to jump through to get on the School Board. In Oak Ridge its not about what you know or your morals its who you know and what you can do for them. Plus all the things that Coach Stevens has done just gets swept under the rug so why wouldn't they continue to do the same?
