  1. If it was up to most of the people in the community we would have but because there was a lame duck principle in office we didn't.
  2. Either or. Mainly continuing from the one that got shut down yesterday.
  3. I think he meant figuritivly. If you count the 205 Championship game his teams are 13-9. All the previous coach at Oak Ridge have come to the booth to do an interview with David Clary after a loss or after any game for that matter and his first season at Oak Ridge he only cam up half the time and that was a winning team. He doesn't come up after losses and do interviews. He doesn't show up at Crunchtime to do a show for the season wrap up. He forgets to feed the kids lunches on trips to Ooltewah and Kingsport D-B.
  4. First of all Oak Ridge wasn't 14-1 the year we made a state championship run we were 13-2. Stanton Stevens had nothing to do with how well that team played i would know i played for him and Coach Lussier. Coach Stevens didn't even get tapes of Ravenwood from the two teams that beat them that year because he "didn't like the head coachs of Franklin or MBA." That is just crazy. Second of all if you count the Championship game his teams are 13-9. Lastly I would like to thank Mr. Green and Doctor Bailey for hiring the worst coach in Oak Ridge Football history. Joe Gaddis at Henry County has gone to back to back semifinals and Gary Rankin at Alcoa has won two state State Tiltes. What has Oak Ridge done? Face it we are a basketball and cross-country school now; football has taken the back seat.
  5. I wouldn't be surprised to see the streak go over 100 games. George Quarles is 123-9 all time and Maryville shows no signs of slowing down.
  6. I'd just like to send a congrats out to Coach Gaddis and his boys they have worked so hard and come so far in just a few short years. Just wanted to let you know that some people over in east tennessee are still pulling for Henry Co.
  7. Irby is a great kid with a great arm but for some reason he can't ssem to throught the fade route in a game. I would take #7 Tyler clark at quaterback this week, he throws the ball well and has a soft touch for the fade route and crossing patterns. This is always a close game and rivalry, usually comiing down to the last minutes of the game. DB steps it up on both sides of the ball when they play OR and OR always keeps it close. I'm taking Oak Ridge 24-17 in this one.
  8. I called them middle of the road because they usually start good be fade toward the end of the season costing them a playoff spot or a lower seed. Also as i said before WB has had better teams than OR in the past and have come into a game favored but up until last year they hadn't beaten OR. Plus WB was picked forth in Region 2-5A out of 8 teams, in my opinion thats middle of the road.
  9. I think this game will be closer than most people think. McMinn consistantly has a good team and they have alot of talented players coming back. Plus they are playing at McMinn which can be a difficult place to play at. I'ml taking the upset McMinn 24-21
  10. I know Bradley usually has a few good players, but who are their best players this year?
  11. Farragut easily over Heritage. Sterling is to good. Farragut 42 Heritage 7
  12. Coach Lussier has a defensive mindset..... He consistantly has goo defenses where ever he goes and his offenses hold the lead. I take Father Ryan by a touchdown.
  13. We need to work on capitalizing on the other teams mistakes and this game should be a good for us to work on that asspect. Never underestimate an opponent...... Anything can hapen on any given Friday. I still take Oak Ridge in this one 31-14
  14. I never said that the game would be easy and for Bearden or DB... And to clear up my statement i was basing it on William Blounts history. Consistantly WB has started off hot but cooled off later in the season and lost games that they were in contention for thus costing them a playoff birth or higher seed in the playoffs; they are often overrated coming into the season. Many times William Blount has had a better team than Oak Ridge but Oak Ridge, up until last year, had never beaten Oak Ridge.
  15. I have to go with Bearden on this one for two reasons..... First DB was beat by William Blount who is only a middle of the pack Region 2 team and second Bearden has grown up these past few years and they have the all around more complete team.
  16. I understand and i wouldn't expect anything but that from a sports writer for the Oak Ridger. I don't think any Oak Ridge fan enjoyed missing the playoffs.
  17. Tank i accept you apology, It's just as a former player you take pride in the program you use to play for and i can see how you meant well and it might just be sarcasm, to me it came out differently. I'm sorry if i bashed you.... but it hit home when i read that.
  18. The Tradition of Oak Ridge Football has always been and will always be...That is the reason poeple come to Oak Ridge to play football. Andrew Kirkpatrick a current linebacker transfered from Bearden to play at Oak Ridge. Tony Carson a current lineman transfered from out of state to play at Oak Ridge. Not to mention his father was a stand out linebacker at Oak Ridge which goes back to the tradition factor. Oak Ridge has only had 3 losing seasons ever. And seeing as how previous to last year Oak Ridge went to the semifinals twice and the state title game in '05 it seems the tradition hasn't died. As i said before last year was last year and you can't cry over spilled milk. And as for Tank and what he wrote it was obviously his opinion not just chatter around town. The Oak Ridger is a newspaper not a tabloid.
  19. I agree also with the 7-4A standings ,but i also think Coach Gaddis and Henry Co. have one of the best teams in West Tennessee. They made it to the Semi-Finals last year and they have one of the most talented teams coming back. I think they will make a runner to state and give Maryville a run for their money.
  20. IMaOwl I don't understand why you are calling Tadvols a jerk.... Did you happen to read the recent article Tank Johnson wrote? I don't uinderstand how the sports writer for the Oak Ridger bashes The football program by saying "The Oak Ridge football program, after a 5-5 record in 2006, has officially passed away. It was a tragic accident, one that saw the team miss the playoffs, that flatlined Wildcat football forever." I like for one as a former Wildcat am insulted by Tank's words. In his article Tank seemed to ramble on about how terrible this season will be and his story seemed to go no where. He even seemed confused about how he felt about the football team because at the end of the article he said this "Heck, I may wind up picking the Falcons to win, but it won’t be because of jealousy, it will be because I think they are the better team that particular Friday night. But I, for one, am not so quick to think this program is dead. In fact, I am not planning on bringing flowers to the funeral in Fulton Friday night, just my camera and notepad." Yes as a town we are very prud of our football team and its accomplishment and Yes we were upset that last year was a down season and that the Wildcats didn'y make the playoffs, but you can't cry over spilled milk. You pick up the pieces and move on because its a whole new season and anything could happen. Best of luck to both Fulton and Oak Ridge on Friday.
  21. Well, the foul on Quinche that was ruled intentional was pretty bad too so I guess it works out. Bradley will be at the state no doubt and hopefully so will the Cats.
  22. Did anybody watch the Oak Ridge Wildcats on CSS today from Florida? I think they made Tennessee proud and are looking good for the second half of the season.
  23. I understand that football field get worn out over a period of 5 games at home, but Farragut has no excuse for the sloppiness of the field. Oak Ridge use to play their soccer games on Blankenship Field, but it never looked as bad as Farragut's even this late into the season. Stop making excuses and get a sepperate field for soccer. Its not like yall don't have the money to do that over there.
  24. 15 wins in a row in this series, I see no reason why it will end Friday. Oak Ridge may be down but not far enough to lose to Farragut. 17-7 OR
  25. Even if Oak Ridge beats the Owls and the Admirals they could end up playing Sevier Co. at Sevier Co. in the first round; as long as they finish second in Region 1. Oak Ridge has lost a first round playoff game since 1985, but Oak Ridge has won 9 straight over the Smokey Bears.
