  1. I read the article as well, chaos sounds like a good description. What caused the WC penalty before the start of the game?
  2. I agree that parents should back off and allow coaches room to coach. There is a strong culture of losing in wc. there are numerous issues, demographics, economics etc. its gonna take a tireless coach and a complete committment to turn this thing around. i dont know this coach, but i dont see progress within the program. the fact that he moonlights as an arena coach during the spring tells me he is not 100% committed to his day job
  3. obama is a socialist, he has never had a real job in his life. im not convinced mitt is the best choice, but he is a better alternative to that commie potus we have now. his job title in chicago was "community organizer" for christ sake. he knows nothing about creating jobs
  4. unprepared is all on the coaching. this coach is in year 3. i have read he was fooling around with arena football this spring..obviously he should have been focused on wc. This is inexcusable, young team, injuries, it doesnt matter, this should not happen in yr 3
  5. Im guessing wc has at least twice the enrollment of dc. no offense to dekalb, you guys are doing well and i congratulate you, but there is NO excuse for getting rolled 50-0. im guessing it could have been worse. How low can this program sink?
  6. when did the mercy rule kick in? congrats to dc, Reading local paper it sounded like warren was on the upswing this yr. i guess not, but hey we always have that mythical group of 8th graders that will turn things around one day...hope
  7. 4 or 5 wins tops, I heard they really struggled against Oakland.
  8. Karl, why don't you go back to your hole in the back of Bill Cox's outfit.
  9. I went to a couple of games this year. I've seen some improvement from years past, but i am not sure what is needed to take them to the next level. It is difficult for me to see how they can compete with the murfreesboro teams. One suggestion would be to stop changing your offense each year. If they want to be a wing t grind it out team that is fine, but stick with it. Talent level has risen and seems to match their region rivals. No reason WC can't be like Lincoln County..competitive year in and year out and once every 5 years or so, make a deep run into the playoffs. Wishful thinking perhaps
  10. I remember the defense lead by Coach Rankin dominating each game during the 80 season, they had 6 or 7 shutouts that year, on offense Newby would simply line em up and shove Womack down their throats daring them to stop him. It was classic old school football that we sorely miss around here.
  11. FROM SUNDAY'S SOUTHERN STANDARD: Watching the Warriors — who have won four state crowns and finished runner-up five times since 1993 — celebrate their latest playoff win, Madewell drew comparisons between Riverdale’s club, which hasn’t missed the playoffs since the 1990 campaign, and his own, which made back-to-back playoff trips for the first time in school history. “You see them, and they’re at the level where we want to be,” he said. “And honestly, I don’t think we’re that far behind being at that level. “I think we saw several times during this game that we can play with those guys, and be competitive against that kind of team. So if we can keep building -- working hard in the weight room, and working during the off-season, we can reach the level where we’re a playoff team year-in and year-out, and where we’re hungry for it every year.”
  12. Barnes was at WC from 86-90. Great coach and a great man. He was old school and did not put up with any BS. Class act... I wish this matchup would have taken place last year. It would have been nice to see all those Riverdale coaches with the Warren county ties out there coaching against the Pioneers.
  13. Not sure, reduce the playoff rounds or redraw the regions, just make it where a 2 or 3 win team is not going to make the playoffs. Also, 7 classifications is rediculous, reduce that back down to 3 or 4 tops.
  14. Agreed... I like to call it the trophy mentality...Everyone gets a trophy just for showing up, that might be ok for t-ball, but it needs to end at some point. Or when schools do not give out letter grades or bans dodgeball.
  15. it is just a pet peeve of mine. I just think TSSAA has lowered everyone's expectations and standards with this diluted playoff system. WC has shown great improvement of the past couple of years and I hope they continue to get better. I would like to see them be able to compete with the top Murfreesboro schools. We are not there yet, but we are out of the 0-10 dark ages...Progress
  16. That is a good point, LA had an amazing run, but the vast majority of the time the 1 v 4 matchup is not a competitive game. I guess I'm just old school in the fact that I can't understand how people congratulate teams for 3 or 4 wins and declare the season a success just because they make the playoffs. Before, every district or region game mattered, now its 2 wins and you are in.
  17. Good Season?? Why do we celebrate mediocrity? CC has won 3 and WC 4 and we are congratulating them on their great seasons? I remember when you had to actually have a winning season to be rewarded with a playoff birth. I played on teams that won 5, 4 and 7 regular season games and we never made the playoffs. The TSSAA has diluted the playoff system to the point where a 3 or even a 2 win record team gets to the postseason. What a joke. Both teams will get crushed in the first round, but i guess TSSAA will get a few bucks out of it.
  18. Observations from Sparta game: O line is the obvious weakness of this team. Defense is solid, but spends way too much time on the field with constant 3 and outs from the offense.
  19. Chili supper tailgating? Who is making the chili? Is it just regular ole school chili or are we bringing in a ringer? Thinking about heading out to Rebel Hill to check out the Pioneers this Friday or I might wait for the grand showdown with Manchester. If WC beats Manchester we have Wilson Central, but a loss to Coffee means we have to go to Warrior Drive. It would be interesting to see all of those former Pioneers across the field coaching against the alma mater. Kell, save me a bowl of chili just in case.
  20. Has anyone heard from Kellraiser? I know you are out there kell.
  21. Hey Chris Evert..I mean great defender of Pioneer football. You are the one that made this personal with your "illustrious" comment on page 1 of this thread. I am not trying to relive my glory years or disparage this team. I have yet to spew venom on anyone but you. I support the Pioneers and hope they do well. In fact I will go homer like you Martina and predict the Pioneers will win 85-3 on Friday. Nothing I can say on this site will "dismantle" this program and as a former Pioneer I have no desire to do so. So go do your show prep for the 5 people that will be listening to your AM radio show and leave the football talk to the people that actually understand X’s and O’s. Eagle79 it is always good to hear from a former teammate. I hope all is well with you. Former Pioneer you wrote “I don’t care how good you was or was not” in your post. Please tell me you did not become an English professor after your glory days with the Pioneers.
  22. I find it difficult to discuss football with a tennis queen such as you…Bryan. With that said, let us review your quote again: Obviously I am included in the “some” who have “kicked THIS team for so long.” I have yet to kick THIS team, but remember, the season is young. And yes, I think there will be a seat left for myself and “some” of the others because Warren County is 2-1 and has beaten two of the worst programs in the state – not yet world-beater status. THIS team is much improved, I am behind THIS team, but they still have a long way to go. Let’s be real for a second – the schedule is as weak as I have ever seen for a 5A team. And yes, I suppose I would use the word “illustrious” to describe the 1990 season keeping in mind the recent history of Warren County football. Oh, and I comprehend this: Consider your class Bryan – there were only SEVEN football players out of your class of 375+. There must have been some bad aromas in the air, or contaminated water, or maybe too much insecticide used in the nurseries that year to conceive such a pathetic progeny as that.
