  1. If it's the kid I think you are talking about, Yeah, along with going to Webb, Catholic, and any other school his parents want to shop him around too. His parents have been doing this ever since he was in little league. Funny thing is he has a brother that is pretty good and you never hear them shopping him around. This same kid cost his team a championship because he has a bad attitude. Got suspended for two games for kicking a player for takling him. Not the first time he's been warned about it.
  2. Does anyone know what side of the ball are the expecting.
  3. His son is going to be a sophmore. From what I heard he is a good coach, but a lot of it revolves around his tactics to gain favor in trying to become the coach when Gaddis left and later when Lussier left.
  4. It would be great to see Graham added. Don't know about Gray, heard there was not so good feelings between them when Gaddis left.
  5. I get if you break the rules, you may have to forfeit games, but it can reck havoc when seeding for tournements start. I remember a case where the first place team had to forfeit a bunch of games and got seeded last. Well guess what, the second place team ended up playing them in the first round and losing. How is that fair, a team works all year to get to were they are and now must face the regular season first place team and the other teams have an easier road. I know schools have a lot to focus on but too many times you find schools looking they other way to skirt the rules. People talk and in a lot of cases they're somewhat aware of the situation.
  6. 5A, man still trying to get used to the ring of that.
  7. Good post. I agree with Gaddis coming back, but also agree that for him and the program to be successful it must move forward. If the kids like the new decals then let them stay. It's hard to believe that everybody got the coach they wanted and people are worrying about what decal is on the helmet.
  8. Gotcha, I knew who Upton was and I remember the play. It was at the far end endzone. Yeah I was there and saw it. As far as the no head coach experience. That's part of the problem. All coaches start somewhere and lets face it, we are a little biased, but OR is not the OR of old. We need the best candidate who will bring back the community excitement and be here for the long hall head coaching experience or not. Even GQ had to be given a chance.
  9. I like it the way it is. In the end it usually balances out. Every now in them some body creeps gets hot and creeps in. I think it also helps balance out the districts. It would be a shame to let only the top 2 teams in when they play in a tuff district and allow 2 other teams in in a week district.
  10. Who is Matt Smith, and what credentials does he have for you to make such a strong statement?
  11. I agree. I say the same thing about the big guy Nick for Oak Ridge. I don't understand why Greene doesn't play him more at times. At least he would give them a bigger presence at times. I've seen him go in, give Oak Ridge a little spark and never get back in again. An example was the first Halls game. He came in early, scored, got some rebounds and blocks, and the never went in again. I think sometimes coaches get stuck on their system and refuse to adapt to what maybe working at that time.
  12. Didn't get there until the end of overtime, but really, I can't see any fault in the Refs. Powell still had chances to tie the game all the way to the last shot. You even really said it. Maryville gets the re-tip and scores and the rest is history. It's not Maryville fault the Powell didn't do anything after that. For playing the big guy, I don't no the reasoning. Since he's just a freshman, he may not have a lot of confidence in him. He came in against Oak Ridge in the district championship late in the 2nd qtr, scored 4 pts. and never returned. I did see him play against the OR JV and 1, he didn't start and 2, he tended to fumble around the ball and miss easy shots. OR end up beating them by 20.
  13. My experiences it not that bad. With the unlimited wait there are usually provisions that limit what positions those kids can play. Many leagues limit that to the line from tackle to tackle.
  14. To be honest with you, I was just asking. Never was a Hitch fan anyway. To me he was one of those people who just likes to hear himself talk. Sort of like that Mike guy on comes on Sports Animall 99.1.
  15. Congrats to Mike. I played against him in HS and with him in college. If i remember right he also was a good wrestler at Farragut. He is a competitor and will do a good job for the Vikes.
  16. Does anyone know what defense Bearden primarily runs. Are the man-to-man, zone, or mix it up. The one achilles heal OR has had is team that play zone defense.
  17. Maryille vs Powell Oak Ridge vs Bearden What are the predictions? Will there be a Oak Ridge vs Powell 4?
  18. I wouldn't mind seeing Joe back, Yes, what happend didn't have anything to do with football, but when you are entrusted to lead young impressionable young men, it does become their and their parents business. Like it or not, when you are a public figure, everything seems to become everybodies business. With that being said, it is time to move on. Joe and his family have. I'm confident that if Joe had to do it again he would have handled things in a different way.
  19. Huh? May be I missed something but those were'nt CC fans. There may have been some from CC, but most were from OR.
  20. OR better come prepared. Clinton has been playing some good ball. OR has been lackadaisical lately. Heard they even got sent home early from practice yesterday. Green just ended it and told them to go home, to much whinning and lack of effort.
  21. I've seen Science Hill play also and to say no player on Powell's team would be a starter is crazy, expescially the way the way SH plays. Lets say none wouldn't start, they would still play alot. SH tends to sub 4-5 players at a time. SH just barely beat DB in double overtime last week, and from watching them, they are nothing specials. OR killed DB both times they played them, so I think OR, Powell, and Karns would have a good chance of beating them. SH is good, but they are not the team they were 2-3 years ago.
  22. I agree with you to a point. But at what point do you start blaming the players. Have you been to any of their practices? If not you should go and watch. Their coaches preach and preach fundamentals. They can shoot 1000 free throws a day, but if they can't make them under pressure, how is that the coaches fault. That is Oak Ridge's problem, too many people want to blame the coaches, well I've been around Oak Ridge athletics from the little leagues to the high school, and I continue to see our kids get out worked. Some of that starts at home. We have good athletes but we don't have any phenoms, so quit patting little Johnnie on the butt and making excuses for him. We simple have gotten out played, out hustled, out executed. Every game they have lost they have led by 9-10 points at one time.
  23. If you're going to make a statement at least get it right, he wasn't fired, he resigned.
  24. I have to agree with you. Against Oak Ridge the other night, the coach just sat on the bench and looked like he would be someplace else.
