znagglepuz, Carter's QB has thrown for a lot of yards, but have you seen him run. Like a water spicket, all in one spot. I am surprised his daddy, qbsdad, has not been on here al summer. He sure does like to talk up the stats. He will prolly have another good year, but I would suspect moving down to AAA might be more difficult than one would expect. bbs

Justin Cox from Knox Halls - has played DL for the past two years, in addition to playing rb, tite end, OL, but not all at the same time. 6-2, 265, runs well for his size.

In East Tn. it has to be Helton from Central. 5-9ish, quick, sees the field, better than average speed. bbs

Cooter, Gotcha on little Black. He is a feisty little player. Wish we had more like him, just wish he was bigger, faster, stronger. But everyone wants their players, bigger, faster, stronger, don't they? IMO when you have someone with the heart and attitude of Darren Black, you can't go wrong. The Meyers kid, IMO wanted things handed to him on a silver plate. He tried to quit last year but Coach Shepard talked him out of it. Never reported to weight workouts after January, but KJ let him go through spring practice any way. Now my inform. may be right or wrong, just reporting what some players told me. I know this, if Shepard was still thereduring spring, NOWAY would Meyers have practiced. He may have been to 'old school' for todays players. KJ will do a good job IF he will not cow down to the parents. He must go lsomewhere between LL and Shepard. Speaking of Shepard, has he moved yet. Was watching TV last week and saw where he was working the Chad Penington Camp at Weeb. Drove thorugh his neighbor hood and saw his truck in his driveway. Just wondering if you had any inform on when he was moving or if he was keeping his Knoxville home and just going bakc and forth? bbs

Good players will go a l ong way in getting Ryan back to the top. But that is the same every where you go. Good players make good coaches, IMO.

Cooter, I agree on the spring QB, but he is the one that quit this spring/summer. I was just told yesterday he quit the night of the DB scrimmage. Wing T is what we shuld be running. Easier blocking rules. One of the big fb was a kid that started in 2003, Justin Reese. The other was the starter from the latter part of last year. The Reese kid came back and was liftingin Dec/Jan, before Shepard left (I think this is right). We shuldn't make mistakees when you run between the tackles. The Ward fella is one of the most respected coaches in or around the K-town area and he has been there since the late 60's or early 70's. Yes, he is Chip Ward's dad. Yes there are quite a good number of kids in the camp this summer. It looks like more than last year, I think last year they had close to 100. Now Coot, up until now you have been right on with all of your comments - but surely you kow the difference between Jason Julian and Keven Julian (current Head coach at Halls). Jason is the young borther. bbs

Now you know why Vandy can't win games in foosball - they have idiots in there that won't let STUDENT-ATHLETES in school. This is seconed only to Ron Mercer - the only difference is Mercer would have beeen on scholarship and Herndon was only wanting a CHANCE to play.

cooter, I agree with your comments about Lucas/Lockwood. But, if Julian does not have them and the rumors are that the backup qb quit early this summer, then without your start qb and rb, my debils might be in trouble. One positive is that Coach Ward has decided to coach again, and he will be running the offense. Great guy to have around your program. Julian is a good coach, but how much does he know about offense? Seems he only coached defense that I can remember. I do know this Shepard, like him or not, new what he was doing. He played close to the vest, but like you say, no real playmakers on offense. Saw them play west last yeaar and was shocked they won the game. Lucas seem very unsure of what he is doing or not doing. Like the kid, but he seems nervous at qb. D. Black was a contributer anywhere the coaches put him. He missed his junior year with some type of injury, knee I think. I remember Lockwood playing defense his sophmore year, but not last year. don't know if that was Shepards idea or Julians. Have you heard any rumblings about seniors not showing up for summer workouts? Holler back with any news bbs

medman, Mark my words, Halls will be a force. We should have 7 starters on defense, lost 2 lb, 2de. On offense we should have 6-7 starters back, lost 3ol, 1 wr, 1te. Last year we played quite a few linemen because of injuries. I'm not counting anyone as a returning starter that started 1-2 games. Now this is also counting on Lockwood and Lucas playing. Big rumor going around the debils community now is alot of seniors are not showing up for workouts. This is not a good sign. If I had known about this when I voted, I prolly would have ranked them down 3-4 spots. Julain let some kids back out for spring that our former coach would not let play for the same reason, lack of committment to working out. I am ansioux to see how Julain handles this situation. Will he have the @#$%& to show them whose boss, or will he let parents run the show. Anywho, I will be there with bells and whisltes to see what happens. bbs

footballscout, When you say someone runs in the 4.7 area, what exactly does that mean? 4.7 to 4.79, I would guess. My next question would be if the young man benches 355, and he says when the shoulder gets better. Showtime5 did you squat 605 with a bad shoulder? Next did you PARALLEL squat 605 or did you just get it off the rack, move a few inches, then put it back on the rack? bbs

Best HS game I ever saw was in 97 (I think), when Maryville beat Halls at Halls. Halls took the lead with about 2 minutes left in game. Maryville moved down the field and kicked a FG with under 30 sec. in game. Was for the region championship. If memory is correct, Maryville won the state that year. Had an excellent little receiver, Sweatland (?). bbs

Looks like Buck has won the title of recruiting guru in Knox Co. Title originally was won by LL at Halls, then Clark Duncan at Powell, next came Joel Helton at Central (with the help of two volunteer coaches), latest in line, Buckaroo Coatney from Fulton. All Buck needs to do now is figure out a way to get Darroll Smith from Powell to move over to Fulton and no one would ever touch the Falcons. signing off - bbs

here's my 2 cents worth: 1. Maryville - as usual. Better find a quality QB - if it's the kid from Halls, they could be in trouble - He has too left feet 2. Central - to be da man, you got to beat da man. Central has not beat Maryville since the quarter's in 99 3. Halls - last team to beat the rebels in regular season (I think). New coach, new offense, lot of returning starters. Don't oberlook my debils. 4. Powell - Could pass Halls for third if they win at Halls. Home team in this game usually wins. 5. Lenoir City - Will shock people when they move up to 4a. 6. Knox West - Could wind up 4th, if they can find a QB and RB's to replace their dynamic trio from last year. 7. Clinton - Nobody really cares - but they do have the 2nd best athlete in the region returning at QB. 8. South Doyle - Same old story as last year - worst team in the region, makes no difference if 5a or 4a. signing off - BBS

Why not let the schools show their spirit - wave flags, clap, cheer, chant (ala a local baseball team). Seems to me the administration has fumbled the ball here. Wild rooster, You say you heard Burnette kid lives in Halls. Why you know he lives in Halls, man, who you kiddin? You have been on here and talked about Halls, Central Powell, Lee Smith, Barron Huber, Kevin Catlett, etc. You must be trying to be incognito when you speak. How are the debils going to be this fall. I heard they have a new coach, new offense, new defense, etc. Do things look up for the debils? I heard Lockwood, Lucas are not playing football this fall. Any truth or is that just a rumor. Also the other QB, Myers came back but then quit again during spring practice. When I saw he during scrimmage last spring, he looked better than decent to me. What is the deal with these youngsters?

The debils lost 13-3 v. Overton, then lost 2-0 v Collierville. Good year, but not the end that we wanted. Credit the coaches and players for making it to the big show again - don't bash or blame them for leaving early. The two teams that Halls lost to might just be there at the end.

Hey Halls fans, Let me get this right, Lockwoods arm is a hurtin? Didn't he pitch last Friday against D-B. Today is Wednesday, he is pitching on 5 days rest. Now don't be thinking I'm bashing, but I agree with an earlier post, grow some (you know what) and PITCH. Sounds like Lockwood might be making an excuse for getting shelled.
