  1. For seeding info - go to this link - Mat Control Seeding Info Weigh ins @ 7:00 a.m. and wrestling to be approximately @ 9:00 a.m.
  2. Okay boys (and some girls) - there is a lot of what ifs on this thread - so enough already. We all got to get through Regions and then at that point you can really begin your predictions!
  3. Don't know the score, but Ravenwood beat Franklin...
  4. It is my understanding that Coffee is now on the varsity line up @ Centennial @ 215. The schools & TSSAA have taken all the facts into consideration and have made a decision. Evidently PJP, CHS & TSSAA all agreed to this outcome. It is done, let's all move on!
  5. Zarbo was on the mat last night against EL & BHS looking good!
  6. 1st off I'm surprised that BB is longer than FB. 2ndly - the only thing I like better than a good basketball game is a basketball court covered in wrestling mats! The BB season is probably longer to make up for those nights that the court is covered in wrestling mats - you know it's always the wrestling teams fault that there are problems in the gym!

This program has improved each year and have a super coach. I've loved watching them evolve into a stronger team each year.
  8. Wrestling will improve your performance on the grid iron! Get on the mat and get after it!
  9. Pretty Boy Kenny - no suprise that he is consumed by women! LOL! If he red shirts for a year, it means he has 12 months to get even stronger - such a hard head, like a few other 189/215's that I know but won't name. I saw Cox tonight at his lil' bro's match - he looks good and still loves wrestling. Of course him and the other (seriously getting bald) guy had to hang out and mess around on the mat like they were still in MS & HS. Just had to laugh at them!
  10. hey Hamm, you know who I'm talking about... We still watch the taped matches with Kenny from time to time. Some of the best matches were with Kenny. How's my Oklahoma boy doing? If he is missing working around horses and in the barn, give him my number... I can hook him up real quick like. I was out that was last month and there will be some that need to be broke come spring. You know - Kevin Cox over at Centennial made that cut to 189 after wrestling 215 for 3 years too.
  11. Okay I think I know who you are - didn't you cut to 189 your Sr year like another Williamson Co Wrestler? I hate to hear that about Centennial - Coach Hambrick & Peck sure had a good program going there for a while. Yes, Stuart can do it! Remember that BGA was in this same situation a year or so back with just barely a handful of wrestlers. If his coach will stay with him and get him & whoever else they can find the mat time and in tournaments, he can do it. Stu needs to finish his Sr. year. You know so many of the old Freedom guys end up at Centennial and you should all finish the 4 yr wrestling plan regardless of your HS. You know I kept up with a Freedom boy that ended up in Maryville HS & now we have a Freedom boy ref'ing! I'm sure I'll see you guys mat side during the HVAC season!
  12. Well I can think of a wrestler not so long ago in Reg V that wrestled 215 for 3 years and every year by the time regions rolled in he was down around 195. This means that even though he could easily cut down to 189, he was certified at 215 - so he gave up 15-20 pounds for 3 years. His Senior yr he cut to 189 early so he could certify at the weight he knew he would be at naturally by the end of the season. This had nothing to do with avoiding anyone at 215 - as a matter of fact by going down to 189 he was going up against tougher competition. To make it even more dicy during the Sr. year - his coach would wrestle him at 189 or 215, which ever was the tougher wrestler. Just because someone is cutting weight, does not mean they are always avoiding someone in a weight bracket.
  13. Watch for Barnes from Ravenwood - he improves with each passing year. Josh does a good job with his program... I know that FHS has to be proud of this alum! Yeah, Franklin has some studs in the barn, but they have some youngsters too. I expect to see about half of their team to qualify for state. Watch Independence, they have a new program and their coach is building a good program. He had some freshman show well last year at the Freshman Grand Championships. They also have a great feeder program with Heritage. Another one to watch is Fairview - again they have a been building up steam and could show well. Haven't heard much out of Page or Centennial. Does anyone have news on them. We will sure miss Coach Pair! There was some scuttle going around that Centennial may not have a full squad this year - does any one know for sure. Joe always brings some hosses in over at Brentwood and he has a bunch of HVAC champs that could really boost them up this year.
  14. I already knew that Parsons was at BGA. It is unfortunate that FHS lost him... Coaches may not win the game, but they sure do inspire & push the athletes to win it. Just because you have athletes doesn't mean you win the games. You have to have the coaches to pull it all together.
  15. BDD - I agree completely on Coach Parsons! He is one of the few men that I know that will go out on the practice field from work, take off his jacket and jerk some kids face mask in dress pants, white shirt & tie. It's not so much that he jerks the face mask, but his voice is much bigger than he is. He gets your attention. You know there are a few other coaches in that new school house that should be out on that field! 2004 - sure were a lot of fun tailgaters back in the day! Wonder if these mommas will wear tiaras like those mommas did?!!!
  16. Ok, someone get me caught up - What has happened to the Franklin HS Rebels? I've gone through the first three pages and I don't see no bragging! There usually a ton of those rebs on here talking smack... Is this going to be their down year?
  17. Regardless of WB or FTL format - you are going to have some quick pins in the first round and possibly 2nd round this year - look at who has qualified from various regions. For the STUDs out there - be gentle on the fresh meat - we don't want a lot of injuries! Then you have 10 region champs going into a 32 man bracket - it's gonna be a very strange year for TN wrestling! Big Thanks to TSSAA - for keeping it interesting!
  18. I could, but I shouldn't, but I want to, but I won't, oh h3!! why not! Where the state tournament is held... Where the state duals are held... Weight management... Bad referees... Ejected athletes, coaches &/or fans... TSSAA rules & regulations being fair or not fair, being supportive of wrestling or ignoring our sport entirely... My team, district &/or region is mistreated or not respected...
  19. John Cross has some great pics from the State Duals! Check them out!
  20. If TSSAA has already denied the appeal, chances are not good for this kid. Many coaches schedule 2 extra matches during the week after state duals specifically for this reason. If the coach tries to get those matches in tonight, it probably will not help - as they were not on his schedule that was submitted to TSSAA at the beginning of the season.
  21. Based on what I've seen of TSSAA regarding appeals - you should have stayed on the mat and fought it out with the officials and TSSAA at the time it occured. Whoever the parent was - tie them into the stands next time. My son made it very clear to me that I was not to step on the mat regardless of what was happening. Reviewing tapes from both schools of the same match has not made a difference to them in previous instances. I've seen principals & assistants who requested time on the agenda to speak and then get bumped off without notice. I hate to see this happen to kids regardless of what tournament or where in the season - it is unfortunate. Good luck to both wrestlers, you can rise above all this muckity muck!
  22. Was Franklin or Franklin Co a no show? Just curious...
  23. Sonic is 2nd weekend in December. Camp Jordan is weekend of March 25th.
  24. That is so awesome! Glad to see a TN boy doing well in Cowboy Country! I'm headed home in a few weeks, so let him know that I'll be in the area. I understand he is coming home for Christmas.
  25. Yeah BDD - you know of any sleepers that may come out of the mid state area? See you mat side!
