  1. Nope. Won't work. TOO simple AND you forgot about the T$$AA's bottom-line...you know, the real reason it's screwed up in the first place! No DII. I say if they're members of the prevailing governing body, ALL privates must play in the highest classification (6A..or 5A, whichever is the highest AFTER these simple changes ).
  2. ? I'm : Team A beats Team B...and Team B is seeded lower than Team A? Uhhhh, yeah, that'd be right, wouldn't it? As my 5 year-old nephew said, 'I don't think your sayin' what you're thinkin'.' Am I the only one that read this...correctly (it IS Solomon, ain't it)?
  3. He's probably the only guy on y'alls bench that can hurt you. The only 'true' blue devil is a Duke Blue Devil.

    CPA

For the record, 'The Show' is from Greenbrier...but now plays for CPA.
  5. You ever heard that the Devil is the author of confusion? Well, I'm confused... Are you FOR or AGAINST?
  6. It's strange to me that people who seem to be or claim to be a Christian sometimes become the Devil's advocate... Hmmm... Anyway, I'm no Biblical scholar, but I do know that Christians and our God have been under attack since Adam and Eve. So, in my opinion, the issue is not 'this insane insistence on public prayer.' It's about being a Christian soldier and fighting for what's right. And if this ain't about our Christian God, either, I've missed the point of the debate. We could certainly argue about this, but I won't. While fighting temptation, I'll just reference I Tim. 2:5, Matt. 10:33 and Psalm 33:12. Posting Scripture on a public message board is a good thing...unless it's being done to argue against public prayer (again...hmmm?). God bless! PS - Sorry, but if you'll indulge me, one more...for arguments sake ...Matt. 28:17-20.
  7. Really? So, some south Texas Mormon and Catholic students, alumni and their mothers - so-called Christians - filed a lawsuit because at the 1994 Santa Fe graduation ceremony the senior class president delivered this invocation: “Please bow your heads. “Dear heavenly Father, thank you for allowing us to gather here safely tonight. We thank you for the wonderful year you have allowed us to spend together as students of Santa Fe. We thank you for our teachers who have devoted many hours to each of us. Thank you, Lord, for our parents and may each one receive the special blessing. We pray also for a blessing and guidance as each student moves forward in the future. Lord, bless this ceremony and give us all a safe journey home. In Jesus’ name we pray.†How petty and silly! The Court should've thrown out the lawsuit as frivolous. But, alas, it's yet another documented example of our government wasting OUR tax dollars (and people wonder why there's a credible Tea Party movement...). May students pray? ...Students have the right to engage in voluntary individual prayer that is not coercive and does not substantially disrupt the school's educational mission and activities...Students may engage with other students in religious activity during non-curricular periods as long as the activity is not coercive or disruptive...It is also critical to ensure that the religious activity is actually student-initiated, and that no school employee supervises or participates in the activity...Any school promotion or endorsement of a student's private religious activity is unconstitutional. Can there be prayer before or after athletic events or activities? A school district's policy of permitting student-led, student-initiated prayer before football games is unconstitutional. It is also unconstitutional for a school official, including a coach, to initiate or lead a team in prayer. Nor may a school official ask a team member or any other student to initiate or lead a prayer before, during or after a public or school-sponsored athletic activity or event. It is also unconstitutional for a member of the clergy to offer prayers before or after public school athletic activities or events. Voluntary prayer presented and led by students without official permission or sanction may be constitutional, provided that it is not coercive in any way. © 2010 Anti-Defamation League. All rights reserved. The Anti-Defamation League is a not-for-profit organization recognized as tax-exempt under Internal Revenue Code section 501©(3). Confused? I am. What's 'coercive' or 'substantially disruptive' about a Christian prayer? If the announcer gives the score, is that forcing me to agree with it or can I approach him about my disagreement...if I don't like it? And can I sue him? These two paragraphs confirm that these so-called ADL constitutional experts/lawyers are also nutcases...along with the ACLU and apparently our Supreme Court. WHEW! I still say...and I LOVE THIS!...'put their fingers in their ears' if they're offended. You go!, girl (Ms. Thurman). Ephesians 6:14 (I can attest!).
  8. Do corporate prayers mean more than personal ones? Certainly not. Just like I can't save you, I can't say your prayers for you. My God is personal, but I believe He embraces public prayers, too. I'll pray for ya, but I ain't into vigils and marches. I like to confront the problem when it happens or at least when something can actually be done about it and a decision can be made...like at a ballgame (where the majority repeats the Lord's Prayer, maybe) or to a school board member (where you can look 'em in the eye and give 'em your opinion as a legal citizen, a taxpayer AND a voter). I have to say, too, though, that our PA guy for Greenbrier HS football games - Mr. Savage - in addition to being a great announcer, prays in Jesus' name. Go ahead, brotha!
  9. So, majority rules? Well, heck, this ought to be easy then. Have you seen the latest religious 'poll' in America today? If so, I guess it's OK then...to also pray in the public square, the Supreme Court, the Oval Office, etc., etc. because America, today, is overwhelmingly Christian, thank God. Anybody that does even shallow research on this country's origins will be highly disappointed if they try to say our government was founded on any religious freedom other than Christian. Sorry! And a token drive around small-town...heck, or even big-town...America reveals that there are certainly many 'denominations' of Christianity. But, Hindu, Muslim and the proverbial 'other' on a large scale? No. Sorry, again. Regarding the bolded statement: Uh, yeah, reality says they obviously do. See Murfreesboro, TN and NY, NY. A few more thoughts... Why do we try to get publicly elected Christians to 'check their faith at the door' or deny their Savior (sin of omission and commission)? Not being able to pray over the loud speaker at an American high school sporting event just because you happen to also be the principal...or a teacher or a student or the mayor...is ridiculous! You can't separate and compartmentalize your life. Bill Clinton tried it and see what happened (I remember a few naïve people saying that what he did in the Oval Office 'was in his private life,' not his 'political' one; that's an absurd statement!). I don't know about you, but my faith is supposed to come first. Now, that's not to say he couldn't have confessed, privately, and been forgiven, but, to say politicians have two lives is hogwash, in my opinion. They're human beings...some of 'em, at least, LOL!...and most of 'em ( ) have one soul, one heart and one brain. It galls me sometimes when I'm at a game and there's a 'moment of silence.' Wonder what Jesus thinks of being politically correct over skipping a chance to promote Him? I usually get funny looks when I don't participate. Oh, I pray, but it ain't on the speakers' schedule. Sometimes I'm still praying when he begins to speak again and sometimes I'm lookin' around, no matter what 'others' think. JOY (Jesus, Others and then Yourself)! That's how it's supposed to be, in my opinion, even though I'll confess to messing the order up sometimes. Anyway, we'll either stand for something or fall for anything. As for me and my house, we're gonna stand! God bless!
  10. Rhonda Thurman is my new hero!... http://timesfreepress.com/news/2010/oct/20/national-group-demands-end-prayers-soddy-daisy-hig/
  11. Then you ought to be able to add and subtract...and know your own birth date. Do you know how long you've been out...or do you even remember escapin'?
  12. GREAT rebuttal! and a very good 'outta-tha-box' idea regarding transfers. With this attitude, you should be runnin' the T$$AA...or, at the very least, STILL be coachin'. On second thought, a person with your common sense probably wouldn't mesh too well with (or suck-up to) lazy, apathetic and incompetent administrators that continue to allow programs to stagnate and even digress.
  13. ogor, Cowards exist in every walk of life, but sometimes it's magnified in sports (if you'll look at the film close enough you'll also see where their #75 cheap-shotted your own son WAY after the whistle on a play late in the game; of course, he responded...after he got up...but then, as usual and as he has been raised and coached, he walked away; smart and classy...and yes, what goes around usually comes back around, so...'heads-up,' 75). Treavor Thaxton is just another in a long line of unbelievable football players for Greenbrier. Just an athlete! SO sorry to hear about another heartbreaking injury for him. I wish some college(s) would see his 'upside.'
  14. Even though the truth hurts, it's still the truth! Westmoreland was VERY well prepared for us and certainly came to play. This was a TOTAL team failure: Players AND coaches. We were flat, not prepared and had absolutely NO spirit! Their QB and their O-line ate our lunch...and watchin' film wouldn't tell you any more than you already know, if you're honest. Use this week to suck it up, get ready for GP (don't lose this game BEFORE steppin' on the field) and finish strong!
  15. Excellent point. Just ask Michigan St. and my Dukies about Butler last year. Gonzaga, Xavier and Memphis are also very strong so-called mid-major programs.
  16. Dear Jealous, The name is '5-sport,' not '1.' Get a clue, genius. I'm not in tha family like that...although I'd claim him in a heartbeat if he really was my son, and not because he's a 'baller, but because he's a good, smart kid that will one day be a contributor to society, unlike you...homie ( ). 'Metro,' huh? Figures...as your ritin' skils be lackin'. Let's talk about that!
  17. Told y'all! These chumps on here that say he's 'mid-major' better aks somebody!! Heard he also dropped 41 (including 2 dunks!) at a Top 1Fitty camp a week or so back... I'm tellin' y'all, he's not as big, yet, but he's got John Jenkins' talent. AND, if he gets betta, WATCH OUT!!! He's BAAAAAD! I know Kendren's goin' to Vandy, but Stallings should keep this one in mind, too...for real!! *Good steal on DM/CPA's part. Gonna miss 'im...AND the Rhoten's...in GB, though. Talent drain/just ain't the same...UHH!
  18. Muff, Shut us up!... And if you're 'one,' I wouldn't wanna be!
  19. I don't know 'cause 'I wasn't there,' but I'll bet y'all only won because of...TURNOVERS!
  20. My thoughts EXACTLY! Also, I remember playin' golf with ole Doc Froedge at the Macon Co. CC ( ), if you could call it that - as a 'member,' it only cost him a quarter to play 9 - years ago, when he was a broker for JC Bradford (it was good economic times; he always said he'd go back to doctorin' when times got too bad). I'll bet he'd be real proud of his kinfolk, too. Where y'at, ogor? And come on, bulldog, join in. Although I just can't bring myself to say, 'Go Page' (it has something to do with some of your volleyball posters), I consider you a charter member of the Roger Herndon CoachT Memorial Club, so... (by the way, I had the privilege of talkin' to his father at tonight's game; he was there all by himself; I kinda felt sorry for him, but he was in a 'I-still-support-the-Bobcats mood,' bless his heart). R-E-S-P-E-C-T, MC and TC ain't gonna give any in that part of Tennessee!
  21. Macon (and TC tongue-waggers) lose BIG! And since you like to talk so much, you boys WILL NOT be called upon to pick winners in the future. Whiners? Yes. But, WINNERS...I don't think so. Good luck in the future...HA!...psyche!!! GO Cats! PS - Hey, geo! LOSERS and CRY BABIES move one>>>
  22. Off to the game, but these guys - seven, scaldy, snowy, scooter - y'all be trippin', for reeal. Scooter(?!) - no kiddin', y'allve got a 'scooter' up there?; heck y'all don't even know what a fraternity even is and you've got a 'scooter'... now that's funny rite ther! Where's shorty, shooty and stupy? Seriously, WHO has TC ever played? Tell us, oh knowledgeable ones? You guys dominate(d) because you ain't ever played nobody! And what else do y'all do up there in that itty bitty county 'cept spit, cuss, put aloe on your necks, grow 'baccy, ride 4-wheelers, jack-up trucks and practice football? Why don't y'all get frat-boy 'Scoot' to call up his buds over at MBA and set up a REAL game? Skeered? or would y'all be a l'il bit un-com-furtable hangin' wich da rich folk? I'll holla back after the game...and you better HOPE we don't win...oh, lawwwd!!!
  23. Me, too. That last drive will live in GB football-infamy for-e-ver! Good luck. Like that other dude said, it don't get no easier for y'all. Beech looks to be gaining momentum every week since the Smyrna game and Haymer is the 'real deal.' You're right. That's why I was so surprised at you lecturing me. Heck, I'm probably older than you. I only stated facts and I've been around long enough to know that butt-whippin's go both ways. Believe me, I'm very aware that WH still holds the advantage in wins, but this thread was only about this game. Me, too. Hope they (we?) take care of biness at CC.
  24. Huh? I don't get your post. I certainly don't think I've appeared upset or cocky. Both teams played a great game, as I said... "...Really, you have absolutely NOTHING to be ashamed of. BDP showed up and just got beat by a pretty good team. No shame in that, the way I see it." In fact, it was probably the best high school game I've seen. Good weather. GREAT fan support on both sides. And the refs, well, they made the first worst call when BL got flagged for legitimately hitting a player still in bounds and plainly trying to gain more yardage. Now, I will admit the last two calls against WH seemed like make-ups, but that ain't our fault. Again, GB won fair and square. GBCat2, quit tryin' to play ambassador. It's a rivalry for heaven's sake and it sounds like none of us like losin'. I KNOW I don't. And, Rock, uhhh, I think I'd have picked another screenname. I'd rather be a 'scrub.'
  25. I'm for UT today vs. Florida, win or lose, but I don't do predictions. I am a GB fan...with gonads by the way...and will always pull for 'em. What difference does it make how many times I read this thread without commenting? Who are you, the 'comment' police? So, pick up your flag. No foul. Props to 'our' refs? That's funny. Why don't YOU get some balls and admit you got beat...FAIR AND SQUARE. Also, 2 of those I mentioned are juniors...for the record. 28 - 21, baby. It don't get no better.
