No sir Peyton doesn’t fit the culture . We don’t like country music at AE

Dang good hire for the Kees! He’s a players coach and as long as the players buy in to what he’s bringing to the table , I foresee him being a darn good fit and a long stay in South Knox ! who do you SD fans want to see him keep on staff or do you want a brand new coaching staff ?

First of all, Stanton Stevens will only come back to a local school that has an Assistant Principal/AD position available. Central just hired a new AD this year, I don't see Stevens going to Central because of that reason. Plus AE is currently open as well so if anything Stevens would return to the school he won his championship at in my opinion. Stevens and Graham at AE again would win that community back in a heart beat. Central needs to go ahead and hire Lane or Headrick bring Helton's boys back to coach.

Is it an Alumni?

We didn't play any "Inner city" school last year. Maybe 2 years ago we did but not last year. The QB is Cherry, he's a basketball guy and haven't played football until this past season. He haven't decided yet if he's playing again his senior year. Whomever gets the job will have to talk to him and other players that didn't play last year to come back out. I'll say AE will hire someone by February.

That question has been brought up in AE's last search. I mean, a lot of people were screaming Josh Jones was the best candidate for the job back then but he landed at Bearden and AE hired its defensive coordinator in Mays. So I understand the gist of the question but like I said, AE's AD will make best hire because he's a football minded guy. Have your brother in law to apply if he can relate to the players and school in general, he'll fit right in. Anyone that gets the job can win and win in his first year.

Poston was a very good coach I honestly didn't know he coached at AE until I did some research. I knew he coached at Rule though.

AE's AD is a white man who is a football guru. His specialty is football. He will make the right hire no matter the color of the person who gets it. He wants AE to be a top notch program in every sport, so just sit back and watch him work his wonders.

These players go to whichever team is winning at the moment . Fulton is in the same situation. These teams in West Knoxville are coming in promising these players things and then they give them a few minutes in one varsity game so when they try to transfer back to their zoned school they make it hard on them because they now how a varsity record. But the AE youth coaches are pushing AE High School in their youths head now adays. Most of the coaches whom are coaching the Youth programs are all former AE High School players and are volunteer high school coaches. With that said, the youth program is growing and hopefully, the high school program will do the same. AE will be back very soon.

Yea, you can tell you don't know much about Austin East nor its youth program. For the last 3-4 years, Austin East Youth programs has been running the city/county in all aspects. This past year, they finished no lower than 2nd in each division in the YAC and finished runner ups in the 8th grade MAC league losing to undefeated Farragut and Winning the 6th/7th grade division . The problem is keeping these players in the High School program. Yes, we're losing players to Knox West, Bearden, Powell, Catholic, etc.... However, like most of you said, "with the right coach, this will change!" That's why I'm saying this is an attractive job!

Just had this discussion yesterday with an Alumni, but Yes there have been. Bob Poston was the football coach at AE 1968-1969 and went 16-2 as the coach of the Roadrunners. . Poston left after that to go to rival Rule High School

I know he's in college at ETSU and Rosser is at BC I think. Those are names I would like to see at AE. I know they won't give up the college money to come back to High School.

Austin East HIgh School in Knoxville, TN is now open!

Being an AE fan for a very long time I would like to see the following and no particularly order; Stanton Stevens Bryson Rosser Kwayu Graham Troy Flemings Don Colquitt Jay Graham Teddy Gaines Cedrick Wilson All are former High School coaches, some are at the college level , but all are potential coaches that can come in turn this program around and get them back to the winning side. AE's AD will have his hands full with this hire and this could make or break him as an AE. However, the AD is a football minded guru and he will hire the best guy.

Why you say that? Any job is an attractive job, AE has rich history of winning and they'll get back soon.

Why start this thread if you're not willing to help these refs? I mean, there's shortage all over the state but there's 1,000 or so "refs" that sits in the stands every game but never sign up to be one.

AE's Mac's team defeated Alcoa's MAC's team 2 times this season. Both AE's JV Mac team and Varsity Mac team made it to the championship game. JV team won and the varsity team lost to undefeated Farragut by 4 points. You posted the 10 year old team, AE didn't fill a 10 year old team in the YAC league. However, the rest of the YAC teams made it to the Championship with AE winning all of them but 3 titles. Our YOUTH program is on the right track we just have to keep teams coming in recruiting our players.

That could be true but as of November 2023, 90% of them said they're going to AE. Fingers crossed though

The fact that the remaining players were FRESHMEN and sophomores for AE as well though. But your incoming freshman class haven't beat AE's incoming freshman class so you better start recruiting now.

They have a good JR Class, they should make some noise if they can stay healthy
