  1. Now, now RebRaider- you know that Bearden didn't win a championship in cheerleading. It was in the Scholar's Bowl.
  2. I hate to start arguing with someone that also pulls for the Cats, but you need to read my post again before responding. I said that Knox County schools accept transfers and they are quite often denied. (the decision is made downtown, not at the school) Does Central and other schools recruit and then pull strings to get transfers? Anyone that says no is naive or just plain dumb. Is Maryville's decision on who to accept as a tuition student ever depend on how the kid did in middleschool ball? I'm sure sometimes it does. The fact is that as long as there are sports, people will try to recruit the best talent for their team- it happens in 4 year old flag football. And what about competing against private schools such as Catholic who entire student body are "tuition" and "transfer" students? Bottom line is that regardless of how they are made up, the 2 best teams (who are very evenly matched) in 4A ball are meeting Friday night and winner takes all straight to the Boro.
  3. You're right, it's not fair- we rightfully stole, I mean recruited, I mean "got a transfer" for Reggie Cobb (Central and UT alum) back in the 80's and now his brothers go to Fulton.
  4. Central has had about 1400 kids for at least the last 15 years. Fountain City is not growing in population and without changing the area of the school zones, Central will stay in 4A for quite some time. The area of rapid growth in Knox County is in Powell and Gibbs zones. (and of course west K-town, Karns/Farragut) Powell would be the only school mentioned that would probably have to move up to 5-A due to growth, but I don't know if their school is physically big enough to handle that many students. They might have to adjust the zone areas. If all 3 schools did move up to 5-A it wouldn't matter. We've already shown what we can do to their "big" teams
  5. Central is a great football team, regardless of who else is in their class. Maryville has just been a little bit better over the years. Your Spurrier analogy is right on the money though. (unfortunately)
  6. Wow, someone from Bearden on a football thread giving advice about respect. What other great wisdom can you bestow upon us from the almighty Bulldog Football program? Don't you have a soccer game to get ready for or something?
  7. Thanks for the props RebNation. And please be assured that Judge is not a Central fan. I say that because the comment about being sick of Maryville being in the Title game sounds like someone whining from outside the Region. If Central can't be in the Boro, then I want someone from around here to be.
  8. Three things- 1) I talked to Knox County School's main office. There are no "open zone" schools in the county, except A-E's magnet program. Students can transfer between zones if approved by an office downtown. 2) Whoever said that Fulton was on Maryville's level has not been around their program much (and no, Friday night news highlights don't count). Fulton has had success over the last 3 years due to an unusual crop of athletes and AAA ball being down a little, but their previous record..... 3) Anyone on here predicting 3 TD victories for either team (providing both teams are 100% healthy) hasn't followed this series long. History says that this will be another close game and I think these are two very evenly matched teams. Any slip up by either side can mean the entire game. I know that Maryville is less prone to being the one that slips up (hence the recent state titles), but it can happen to either side at anytime. I hope that Central can finally get the monkey off their back , but either way the winner will have a fairly easy time with the winner up NE of us (who benefit from very easy schedules) and hopefully go on to show everyone else (again) that the football played around the Knoxville area is just a step above the rest of the State.
  9. Hey Scooby-Doo Good to see you're still around. I thought you'd be at a Kingston basketball game or something. By the way, you don't have to say the same thing 3 times for us to understand it.
  10. From what I saw, Zach came up limping after the first series. Didn't seem to slow him down that much though.
  11. At least we'll all know who the State Champs are after Friday
  12. Are you bragging about beating a team with a losing record????? Like I said, Boone won't go far in the playoffs because they are going to have to start playing some real teams
  13. Just an outsiders opinion- I've seen Hicks play this year and the boy can flat out run the ball, but.....any team that goes into the playoffs as one dimensional as Boone is will not be around long
  14. Hey Kwalker, If you mix those two colors, do you get Maroon?
  15. Thanks for the input ZCAR- I still hate that were not playing you guys again. There's nothing better than rivalry games in the playoffs. Oh well, I guess we'll see you next year on your side of the Ridge.
  16. What in the world are you spouting off about? Did you even read Medman's post? He was nothing but complimentary of your team. And I will even go one further by adding that I was impressed with your fans also. RC brought bus loads and they did a great job during the whole game- but you are definitely making the rest of them look bad. Medman and I were discussing the officiating of the game- nothing more. You say that I am the worst winner you've heard? If I was a bad winner, I would be blaming the officiating on us not winning by more- but I didn't. If I was a bad winner, I would have told you that you're lucky we turned the ball over 6 times or the score would have really been ugly- but I didn't. If I was a bad winner, I would have directed you to the basketball threads on Coach T's website where you can try to impress others with your ignorance- well......... I will say that one.
  17. There's not a whole lot more that TSSAA can do with the playoffs other than what they are currently doing as far as the seeding goes. What I would like to see is for them to mix up the schedule as far as the regions go. Right now after the first round most teams are back to playing the same schools that they just played one or two weeks ago. I know that most schools cant afford to be traveling all over the state during the playoffs, but at least have them playing teams from 2 regions away.
