  1. Congratulations to the Owls. That was a quality win against a quality opponent. You proved youth and lack of experience doesn't necessarily have to dictate how this season goes. This was a good foundation to build on for the rest of the year. I have nothing but respect for the Rams. You never quit...never gave up. You showed a lot of heart. You'll be fine the rest of the year. I expect to see you in the playoffs. Good luck the rest of the way.
  2. Will somebody with knowledge of the team give a forecast for next year? What positions are going to need to be filled because of graduating seniors.... who's gonna have a breakout season next year... etc...
  3. I don't know Coach Monroe, any of the assistant coaches, Brady Reed, Jacquez Smith, the Owl mascot, or the guy selling popcorn at the concession stand (although it's pretty darn good). I say that to make the point that I'm just a casual fan and an outsider. I played back in the late 80s - early 90s when we were winning 1 or 2 games a year so I have thoroughly enjoyed following the Owls the last 8 years or so as they have been playoff contenders every year. I usually bring my family to a couple games a year and listen to the rest on the radio or watch on TV. As a casual yet dedicated fan I don't know what the politics are around the team or what non-tangible things have an affect on the success the team has during a season... I just would like to see the owls make it to the championship game. All that being said, I have 2 questions: 1. In general, what is or has been the main stumbling blocks for the program? Please avoid using player names here... that's not what I'm asking. I just would like to know - in general - if it is a mindset thing, talent thing, community support thing etc... 2. What is the forecast for next year? How many seniors are we losing and will there be a lot of positions to be filled?
  4. Losing to McMinn Co. may have been the best thing that could have happened to the Owls. Hopefully this will be the 'wake-up call' they have been needing. I hope the old adage that a wounded animal is a dangerous animal applies here. Should be a great playoff game given the recent history of these 2 teams. Go Owls!
  5. Game Day!!!!!!! Getcha Popcorn Ready! (and Fish Sandwiches) Go Owls!
  6. Hey... so what about that game huh?!? Should be a barn-burner! There's a 40% chance of showers Friday night. Which team does that benefit? Also... just my own curiosity here... has Wayne Turner and Benny Monroe ever coached against each other? Go Owls!
  7. Good luck to both teams! 2 predictions for Friday night: Owls put a hurtin' on the Rams. I put a hurtin' on a fish sandwich.
  8. I'll be listening on my computer at work.... Go Jackets!
  9. thanks for posting this, zone. congratulations to all these young men. way to go, Jared.
  10. Congratulation Patriots... You definately have a championship caliber team... good luck next week! Owls... don't hang your heads. The whole community is proud of what you've done. This is not the end of the story for you. Ooltewah will be back. Go Owls!!!

  12. GO OWLS!!! Take us to the Boro!!! Birds of Prey All the Way Baby!!!!!!!!!!
  13. You're right.... thanks for the correction.
  14. We'll be leaving Chatt. @ 5:00 after I get off work... It takes 3 hours to get there and we gain an hour going, but with rush-hour traffic and all we'll probably be there after kick-off... probably middle of the 1st qtr... hopefully it won't be over by then... I want to see a ball-game!!!
  15. Silverdale has a lot of positive things happening for them: They had their first winning season last year. Last year was their first year making the playoffs (they've only been playing varsity football for about 4 years). They played their first game on their newly finished field this year. Coach John Allen has done a great job instilling a winning attitude and teaching the boys about playing with character. They're only a year or two away from possibly being able to compete for a region title and a deep run in the playoffs. That being said, I think the deck is stacked against them this week against the Jackets. SBA has had some tough road games (@ Gordonsville in the playoffs last year, @ South Pitt) but they've never played anywhere like the Creekbank. The Seahawks will give TC a game, but TC 'should' win this one easily. My family and I are looking forward to rollin' up on Friday to catch the game and see some of our TC family. Good luck to both teams.
  16. I'm stuck at home handing out candy! Does anyone have a score? GO OWLS
  17. never mind... just saw it was postponed
  18. owlfanatic..... well said. You're a good ambassador for Ooltewah football. Go Owls... I wanna see you play next week!
  19. WHOO HOO!!!! 70 hour countdown!!!! Getcha Popcorn Ready!!!!! Go Owls
  20. I'll paint anything on my car.... I'll eat an any burger joint... I'll wear whatever you give me to wear........... as long as I don't have to see #1 Jackets fan in his scivvies.
  21. It's good see what a great program Ooltewah has. I played during some of the 0-10 , 1-9 seasons in the early 90's (I think I remember a 48 - 0 loss at the hands of Coach Monroe's Blue Raiders)...those were the days when the band left at half-time and the only fans were parents of the players, band-members and cheerleaders. Everyone used to schedule us for homecoming. I believe my senior year we played in 5 homecoming games... ours and 4 others. Ooltewah football used to ba a punchline to a joke years ago... BUT...Not anymore! Now everywhere you go in Ooltewah everyone's talking about the game Friday night! The whole community supports and is behind the team. I love it! I know Bearden is tough --the class team of Region 1 for sure-- and it won't be easy but I think the Owls pull this one out in a close game.... maybe an overtime or 2. Go OWLS!
