  1. and the Bratman beat goes on...........
  2. I agree!!! Is this a message board for the fans or the coaches? If it is just for the Coaches, state that and lock it down. If the site is for fans, things are going to be said as long as they are not vulgar, they have the right to say it.
  3. how bout a snickers (cleveland?) observation, in another thread the number 5% was discussed with respect to referees. I think you could say the 5% also applies geographically (not sure why).....as in the extreme 5% western part of the state and the extreme 5% eastern part of the state. Hard to get anything at all out of Memphis and other than Sullivan South very little from the tri cities (especially the schedules and results posted on coacht). If a result is posted, South was most likely the opponent. I will give Kingsport newspaper coverage an A and Knoxville's a D. Consistent coacht participation is a function of being in the hunt? At least until it becomes a habit in its own right.
  4. one other comment, explain the volleyball action on that picture......... #3 missed the block, #9 is preparing to dig, and the lady that just spiked, why is her arm in the air? Think about it, you spike and follow through, why do you throw your arm back up in the air that quick.........based on where the ball is her arm should be pointing down. Clousseau is on the case and will have it solve ed in due time. I knew something about that picture was peculiar............Just an observation. Slo nite
  5. to add my two cents and from a slightly different take on it, I am glad it wasn't someone we know that was selected to be put out on display on this thread as an example of inapproprate dress for all to see and discuss. Maybe it was someone not from around here (Tennessee) or maybe at least over 18???????????
  6. Stone Memorial is a first year program but not first year players. They play very similar to AC......I am very surprised they haven't taken a game or more yet from AC.
  7. Bratman, hope you get to read this. I am not sure how to stay on topic in this thread but I am guessing jibber jabber in a jibber jabber post is consistent. This message board has become a sports page more than an editorial page so I will keep it sportsy. The a/aa brat/pat thread is no more.........alas....probably shooda been called a/aa pats in retrospect. Your no comment on Dupree returning to AC next year is either speaking volumes or you haven't seen my speculation.......... Your young lefty MB will be a real good one in time. Two AC players kinda collided tonite, hope they are ok. How did Clinton get so good to beat Maryville, Karns and AC? Hard to believe based on our scrimmage with them early on.
  8. I believe one great purpose spandex serves is to preserve modesty. When a player is all sprawled out on the floor diving for a ball, without spandex, their tidy whities are vulnerable/exposed to view. I would find wearing shorts over spandex to be too hot, especially the first month or two of the season........see choo choo's team camp for their heat index.
  9. KYDigs, I started this thread so I wouldn't drift off topic in any other thread. Just out of curiosity, what is the danger of bobby pins/hairclips that requires them to be removed when worn by a vb player? May fall out and be a step on and slide hazard to others? I really would like to know. I wonder if bratman, nature boy, snraiderfan and arnwine are one and the same? Or does bratman have access to a lot of passwords. Are there any AAA powerhouses in Chattanooga? or just DII? do each of the AC coaches have over 500 wins or is that enron... i mean bratman accounting. will phargis continue to ignore my posts while commenting on everything else in the world.....at least say something without really saying anything. ND with Partridge is powerful but without Strozak this weekend vulnerable? Which is the valuable one? AC playday, wasn't norris middle school available? AC A/AA all state players. Laura Brock is a dynamite vb player, lacking only height. She is going to MTSU. How valid is 39 all staters from AC if Brock isnt major DI caliber. Brittany Carter was pretty good by no one else from ac approaches those levels. A/AA in east tn the last twenty years must have been pretty non-competetive. ND and KC have the advantage (according to others) of being private schools, but other than the fact they are private and primarily Catholic, the advantage is???????? I guess everyone knows Catholic's are better athletes than other religions or public students. KC's 500ish students have the advantage over ER's 900ish students and AC's 960ish students because ????? Bratman, next year, KC and AC are the picks to win A/AA after Brockridge leaves and Partridge and others leave ND. Just clearing the air of things I had in mind..........feel free to add yours or just let this thread be my own private idaho.
  10. and just in case, to beat someone to the obvious punch..... I could be PU. Patsfan utterances
  11. To help the uninitiated and probably to correct some guesses I might have missed, volleyball acronyms include: SR serve receive AE attack errors SE serivce errors K kills any others? I'd like to propose one in honor of a longtime and very knowledgable poster.... Bratman. When he issues his opinion, predictions, commentary, analysis, etc, we can just shorthand refer to it as Bratman's statement, or, just BS
  12. To begin with, I think you get to enjoy some exciting volleyball tonite....have fun. For the private schools that don't give scholorships, it can be double edged sword. At any given point in a match KC could have 5 players on the court all from the same middle school team (the middle school probably only had 45 girls in it). An additional 4 girls were on that team that couldn't afford the private school tuition and are playing VB at public high schools. Public schools have an advantage because all the girls from one school can go to the same high school. Just hit a brick wall, don't have the energy or inclination to pursue this again. KC will need MB's when the current ones graduate.....anybody know where we can recruit a couple?
  13. My guess is Anderson County schools have a policy that would allow out of county students to attend but pay a premium (because they don't contribute to to county in the form of property taxes, etc). Would you then deem the regular AC students to be receiving assistance?
  14. I am not Catholic but I believe part of the explanation is that tuition for Catholic High School (to use bratmans numbers for the basis of discussion) is $5,200, not $7,800. If non-Catholics choose to attend Catholic, they pay a premium above and beyond the regular tuition. Similarly, the University of Tennesse sets the amount for tuition for in-state students. Out of state students pay a premium. In both cases, Catholic familes or state of Tennessee residents are paying the base tuition, outsiders pay a premium.
  15. If you can find 15-20 guys willing to play, find a sponsor in your area. You must have school board approval for any sport. If you have sponsor in place and the school will not have to incur any cost, it should pass. It would also help to have a member of the school board really interested.
  16. It was not the intent of the players to present it during the season. The Coaches, AD and Principal found out and decided to have a meeting to determine who started it, who signed it and one other question I cannot remember. They could have easily said, Hey guys I know about the petition that has been started. We have worked hard as a team all year long lets do this for 3 more games for our seniors. At the end of the season, we will discuss your concerns. But no, ego got the best of them and how dare anyone start a petition. Take a deep breath and you will realize the kids did nothing but exercise their rights. Coach U actually teaches Civic and Government. He could have used this as a perfect example of first amendment rights. If your child is mad at you, he/she may say they hate you and don't want you to be their parent anymore. Do you kick them out of the house at 14, 15, and 16 just for saying that? Of course not. Its just an expression of an opinion. You see it for what it is. If you have no idea why he/she said that, ask.
  17. Not everyone that signed the petition was dismissed from the team. That is causing a lot of the controversy. A major thing is being overlooked. Yes, I know this is football country. Yes, I know it is the good ole boys club. I know it is also the USA. Students and football players have freedom of speech. A lot of people say football players should not voice their dislike of a coach. Football players do not forfeit their 1st amendment rights. The football players are still kids. The coaches should be the adults. It may disappoint a coach when half the team signs a petition but they have the right to say it. Also, if half the team is saying something is wrong, someone should listen.
  18. One of the players started a petition. More than half the team signed or gave verbal agreement to sign the petition. The administration found out. Each player was taken in one at a time to be interrogated. Three players refused and were immediately dismissed. Another player refused to name names and when asked stated he was with his teammates. He was immediately dismissed. Seeing this happening one of the five seniors on the team, quit to follow his teammates. Four other players admitted to signing the petition. There will be a meeting tomorrow to decide of they are to remain on the team or will be removed. If during the interrogation, a player said who started the petition and stated they did not signed, they were allowed to remain. A team of 36 is now down to 31 and may be down to 27. Needless to say, several were not honest. These young men have a great work ethic and are very disciplined. But enough is enough!!!!!
  19. If anyone cared enough about JCHS football, they would ask the players without the coaches or the Athletic Director. It is not because of hardwork or discipline. Freshman dress out with varsity on Friday nights; however, first game, they were not even allowed to eat with the varsity. At half time, freshman are not allowed in the locker room. You cannot force team spirit. The sad thing is no one in the administration will recognize there is a problem.
  20. The prayers of Jefferson County are with the families and the community.
  21. I am new to Coach T so I might misunderstand the purpose of this forum; however, I don't believe the intent is to put down any team. I would like to make a couple of points. 1. The officials are not chosen by JCHS 2. OR has a good team. Review the film find out why the penalities may have been called and learn from it. Simple mistakes can be very costly. Fans of JCHS wish OR only the best for the rest of the season and the playoffs. 3. Those that do not know the situation at JCHS should not speculate. NO ONE has cared enough about the program at JCHS to ask the players. A 5-A school should have more 10 - 12 grade players than JCHS. 4. I will say that those who are saying it is because the players do not like the discipline and hardwork of the current staff are insulting the football tradition at JCHS.
  22. For a Junior, Rabbit Lowery of JCHS is a leading player. Actually he is 5'11" at 214 pounds. Will be working on speedl Also, for a 10th grader I dare anyone to find someone with more determination than Jacob Giles.
  23. Christian McFall will be starting for JCHS. With less than 40 players, there is no choice.
  24. Who are the best linebackers in East Tennessee?
