  2. The Honkey Tonk Man sez its getting deep in here... RUDY! RUDY! RUDY! RUDY! And the same backfield, David, you and Sensabaugh, Seabolt, and Steele. Now-w the success of any team men is based on team-play -- the same as you've shown all year --: Sacrifice; unselfish sacrifice! These are the fellows they say are pretty good; but I think we're better! And I think if we get ourselves keyed up to a point, and when we're confident of that ... why-y-y the results will take care of themselves. All right, now. On the kickoff -- if we receive, the zone men will drop back to the receiver and block long -- that old DB style. If we kickoff -- which the rest of the teams want -- let's run down fast -- just as fast as you can run. And then we go on defense. And on defense -- I want the center in and out of that line -- according to the situation. Use your old head! And I want you guards charging through as far as you can go -- on every play. Expect the play right over you every time --. And the tackles -- I want you to go in a yard and a half -- and then check yourselves. Spread your feet -- squat down low -- and be ready with your hands and elbows, so you won't be sideswiped. But I want the ends in there fast every play. Every play, but under control. And you men in the backfield there, I want you to analyze it before you move. If they throw a forward pass, a zone pass, wait ‘til you see the ball in the air -- and then go and get it! And when we get it, boys, that's when we go on offense. And that's when we go to ‘em -- and, don't forget, we're gonna pick on one last one tackle that is weak. We're going inside of ‘em, we're going outside of ‘em -- inside of ‘em! outside of ‘em! -- and when we get them on the run once, we're going to keep ‘em on the run. And we're not going to pass unless their secondary comes up too close. But don't forget, men -- we're gonna get ‘em on the run, we're gonna go, go, go, go! -- and we aren't going to stop until we go over that goal line! And don't forget, men -- today is the day we're gonna win. They can't lick us -- and that's how it goes... The first platoon men -- go in there and fight, fight, fight, fight, fight! What do you say, men! Shake rattle and Roll Tribe Roll!!! Haw Haw Haw
  3. Only thang I'd be wunder'n bout wuz when is she gonna git in tha kitchen and russel up some dinner!! Haw Haw haw!! Lookin like the Tribe got a few sitting out tonight. No show no play. Dees boys gotta be learned to foucs and be committed to tha plan. There was I sitting at the Farragut game watching some DB players a leaning on the fence talking with the regular folks in the stands. Saw a player come off the field then go and take a rest on the bench. Boy I aint use to seeing a DB team do that.
  4. The Honky Tonk Man noticed at one of last years state playoff games PF was doing his impersonation of a gunslinger. Pointing finger , shooting then blowing the smoke off. I guess if you are throwing smoke it's ok, no class but ok. So no suprise, it was below their standards. Haw Haw it aint easy being #1 but the Honky Tonk Man never forgets the little people.
  5. The Honky Tonk Man was wondering if you covered this with the coach? And if so is your kid still playing? Science Hill has a very good farm system don't fool yourself. Freshman JV 101: Winning does not matter to the coaches. All that matters is they find a player / or get a player ready for Varsity. Getting a Varsity player matters.
  6. The Honky Tonk man sez.. Clint Freeman (Crockett) might just be the best stick in the Big 9, not to mention the man has skills in the outfield. Hudson ( Volunteer) has power. He can hit the ball further than most of the Hawkins County Farmers can spit tobacky! Haw Haw Haw.
  7. The Honky Tonk Man sez... You have heard from the rest now hear from the best. The One and Only Big 9 pre season baseball poll . 1. Science Hill Chances are they will repeat in '09 but haw haw haw don't spect a perfect run in the Big 9 this year. The bigger you are the harder you fall. Just ask me & I'll tell ya. 2. Dobyns Bennett The numbers don't lie folks. They have more numbers than anyone in the state. Shake rattle and Roll Tribe Roll. The boys of summer had one heck of a rootin tootin summer going 17-2 including the 1 run beat down of an all big 9 allstar team. like the Litt'l girl said..."they're back" 3. Tennessee High J-Rod in tha house. That boy is a real crowd pleaser at short. This team is aweful. Aweful full of athletes that is. 4. Davy Crockett King of the Wild Frontier. And they will be baseball fans. King of the Wild Frontier but not the asphalt jungle baaaaaby! Poised to be the conference sleeper. Welcome to the Jungle Baby , we got fun and games. 5. South With all do respect the South aint gonna do it again in 09. The pride of pactolus had a hard time getting to 9 so they will be bringing up some boys from the grid iron. They do have a few that might have Robby The Robot warning Will Robinson, but I doubt there will be many suprises. 6. Volunteer The Hony Tonk Man has been tough on The Falcons in the past, but he is here to tell you these boys will have a few of their own shining moments on the diamond. 7. Boone Good fellers , nice field but The Honky Tonk Man don't see em winning as many as needed. Blondie should get the Trail Blazers 4 or so in the W W W column. 8. Central Anything can happen in the District Tourney. And Central has that on their side this year by hosting. 9. East Out 358 not quite to Hickory Tree but if ya hit the gravels you gone too far. ? Somebody had to finish last. Them some good ole boys out that way. Gaby is one heck of a player but I don't think he can carry the whole deal all season. The Honky Tonk Man One and Only pre-season poll. Get on down with ya bad self. It don't matter baby it's all good and it's all right! /cool.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="B)" border="0" alt="cool.gif" /> 0 ???I??™m cool, I??™m cocky and I??™m bad.??? The Honky Tonk Man sez come on back now..ya hear? When the Falcon Roll quits stompin on others threads with no falcon intrest The Honky Tonk Man will be glad to stay out of Haaaak-Ns county. 11. The Honky Tonk Man sez that iz funny, I don't ker who u r!
  12. The Honky Tonk Man sez.. If you get beat in the "Hogie-Heegy" district you sure don't belong playing in East Tennessee! At least go play GC or PV! As The Honky Tonk Man laughs..What wrong? Couldn't the Falcons get a game with St. Marys school of the blind this year? /roflolk.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflolk:" border="0" alt="roflolk.gif" />
  13. The Honky Tonk Man sez... 21 minus 7 equals 14. 14 equals a couple of touchdowns. If you want to get on here like you are the "Staff" coacht writer , please read what you attempting to articulate. So's I wont'z have to re·cip·ro·cate . The Honky Tonk Man sez...The South paw from Boone passes for a buck 80 and 3 td's!
  14. The Honkey Tonk Man sez .. Little Fish in a little pond. Cry us a river. Get him a hanky he is crying so much the water is coming out of the banks of the Doe River.
  15. The Honky Tonk Man sez..wait just a minute. I don't havz no menz. didn't know you South Boyz kept 'em. I am sure Waco iz co-rect. You South'ers have been spendin time in the Man Cave.
  16. The Honky Tonk Man sez .. Gaby left, Gaby right by the time the 4th quarter hits under the Friday Night lites the Falcons will be too tired to fight. Easy East 28 Faultering Falcons 17
  17. The Honky Tonk Man sez.. Sometimes it is better to not post and let them think you graduated from South than to go ahead and post and prove you did. Haw Haw Haw ...
  18. The Honky Tonk Man iz confused. Is you or is you aint wanting to talk about him and DB?
  19. I agree D-No should have 'em lined up to watch him in a couple more years! Upper East Tennessee has some talented Freshmen playing at a high level right now. On the defensive side Norris is pitching very well for SHHS. Mullins is playing great at a tough 3b position and Snyder is pretty good behind the plate for Tennessee High. DB has Bellamy playing great in CF and Millsap doing a good job behind the plate. Ball is pitching well for North. Volunteer has had a couple of freshmen forced into playing time and doing better. On the offensive side.. Lockhart is batting over .400 for south Connell has a HR for Boone Norris has been consistant for SHHS Millsap and Seabolt have had some clutch hits and RBI's for DB I know I have left some names out but there is a wealth of freshman talent in the area.
  20. Science Hill still controls the district even with the bad weekend in Knoxville. The rest of the Big 9 looks like it is up for grabs. This could be one of the most interesting (wild) District touraments in the Big 9 in a long time. While DB seems to be peaking at the right time the rest of the district looks wide open and anybody could make make it to the next round. Once in the next round it's vs. a k-town team and that looks really tough for anybody up here.
  21. Dogg... Who has won the middle school tourneys over the past few years?? When Crawford was in the 8th grade Robinson had the best record, again the next year Robinson had one of the best records in the district , then the following year Robinson was put out of the 1/4 finals by eventual champs Science Hill. This year again Robinson does have a very good team. I do not dispute the coaching abilities in the middle schools but there are some players in the current group and comming up. DB lost 2 key players to Basketball this year that had been expected to play this spring. With only 3 Seniors this year...they may be down but not out. Regardless of the indoor program, with no field they are extremely limited. Especially practicing situational plays. But hey man the turf will be awesome when done. No doubt Science Hill has a great program and excellent pitching. And a very good system in place. As far as rec ball goes and record numbers of players there is lot to be said about the development of talent. Kelly and Lance are doing a good job down there but all and all the better athletes tend to end up playing basketball or football. Time will tell.
  22. While it may be a rebuilding year at DB, Ritz is still a very capable coach. He is the only one around ranked on a national level. Over the past couple of years very few times do I remember seeing any of the local HS coaches at the Middle Schools during the season. Most of the time it was their assistants .. Why?? It's the same as every other coach in the area their team is either practicing or playing. (BTW most all of the coaches are buddies and they do keep up with what is going on)... so watchdog if you got a chip on your shoulder about Ritz pick another angle. DB is expected to be #1 or #2 every year and if not then something must be wrong. Not the fact that baseball as a whole is having a tougher time year after year funneling more kids in to the sport. This current group of players @ DB will do well over the next couple of years. They are young and do have some injuries needing to heal. Given them time on the road the first 1/2 of the season then a chance to build some confidence at home and they will do fine.
  23. Over the past 3 years there has been 2 strong "travel" teams out of East Tennessee. The Junior Toppers out of Johnson City and the East Tennessee Select out of Kingsport. Both teams have faired very well both in state and on the national level. These teams had kids from the Science Hill, Tennessee High, Daniel Boone, DB, Greenville and South school districts. Most of them are freshmen this year at their local high schools. I would expect to see several of these guys get some playing time this spring. Three strong left handed pitchers out of these teams one at Science Hill who is one heck of a centerfielder as well, one at Boone and one at DB. A very good 3rd baseman and pitcher at Tennessee High, couple of good catchers in the group and a couple of good infielders. The group includes some good hitters too! It should be a good year for several freshmen this year.
  24. Oh heck yeah! Several stepped up for sure. Some well deserved props for the defense. #2 ,33 & 24 took advantage of some prime ops tonite. Great effort by all at the goal lines. #32 pounds it again tonight.
  25. CS will turn 19 in November of his senior year. TSSAA states no player can turn 19 before August 1st.
