  1. I don't agree. CAK is way better than many teams above them. My top 5 would be: 1. Alcoa 2. Maryville 3. Smyrna 4. Greenville 5. Webb Alcoa or Maryville could go either way. Both teams I think improved over the year, and it would be another great game.
  2. From an Alcoa fan, congrats Greenville. As for Trezvant, they were the epitome of classless. How that team made it I will never understand. Great job by Greenville of not reacting. I was surprised to see starters in all game the way it was going, but if the record is that important then so be it I guess. Congrats again, and shame on Trezvant.
  3. Good game, and as expected. We should be able to give the silver ball to CAK, but Goodpasture earned it winning the bracket they were in. Make no mistake, Goodpasture is not on CAKs level and the championship was 2 weeks ago. Awesome job Alcoa! 7 straight, 12 total.
  4. We won't win BECAUSE we beat CAK. But after we beat GP it will be clear that the CAK/Alcoa game was more of a challenge than Goodpasture, and the Warriors would have the silver if it weren't for being in the east. The team won't have the same attitude. They are going to earn their 12th title and 7th in a row. I hope for a clean, injury free game. I hope it is a good one to watch.
  5. I wouldn't say touchy, I get bored with it. It grows old fast. If you can't beat them, downplay them I guess. If you want to believe Alcoa scours the 4 corners of the earth snapping up tallent, so be it. In the meantime Alcoa will continue to win and develop players, both in and out of zone. Alcoa will build upon success, tradition, and hard work. The best athletes will still come from the city limits, and the people who want to downplay it and forget Alcoa was open zone when they were losing will keep on. Plus for a team that recruits, we pick some undersized players.
  6. So give us reasons. I would love to hear why you are confident in your assumption. Alcoa has plenty to back up our predictions.
  7. Who is your team again? GP correct? Plenty of other threads for the OOZ garbage, no need for it here as well. You talk about Alcoa being cocky, but you are promising a win aren't you? How would you like your crow this year?
  8. One day everyone will realize that the people on this board are not representative of the team. Sure we like to talk, and are confident (some cocky). Our football team is not. They will not take any game for granted. They will arrive ready to play and Rankin ready to coach, much to the dismay of GP. Alcoa will walk away with this one. I expect a tough game, with the usual results.
  9. We had enough respect to call of the first string and save what could have been a real ugly game. I always say play a full half all the way, especially in the semis, but then we would be jerks for being up 56 0 by half. I heard Rankin telling guys to not return the punt after we got the 42. Just so it didn't get worse. Look, congrats on getting this far. I'm sure it means a ton to your program and every school has a different measuring stick. Still next week shoud be CAK Alcoa.
  10. The second string secondary at that. Betsy did not score on the F5s.
  11. Last update for me unless we hit 50. Betsy has been mercy ruled with 8:43 to go in the 2nd. 3 pass TDs, 1 rushing, 1 punt return. Can't blame refs, Alcoa called for holding a lot. ...betsy just threw a pick. Here comes 42.
  12. Make that 3 long TDs to Isom. 28 0 10:20 left in the 2nd.
  13. 21 0 now, long pass as I posted. Now Betsy has allowed 2 long TD passes. Makes it harder to load the box for the run on them now.
  14. Alcoa 14 Betsy 0 Betsy with a fumble on a punt, and then tried 3 straight passes. If they abandon the run this early it will be real bad.
  15. If you can't beat them, accuse them of recruiting. Either way, you still lose. So instead of making up excuses as to why Alcoa wins, look beyond the "open zone" and look at tradition and effort. Look at what the program is built on. Try to replicate it, and maybe, just MAYBE one day you will see something change for your team. So disparage Alcoa, the results stay the same and nothing will change. Betsy doesn't make it out of this round, and Alcoa will have its starters out after halftime. Honestly, it sounds like you all are making excuses before you lose. At least you plan ahead. I planned ahead as well, hotel room booked the next weekend. Alcoa (Knox area all-stars) 49 Betsy 7 Always interesting that people point to open zone when a school does well, but not when they are down. Take away any OOZ players Alcoa has had and what do you get? A school still playing for a chance at 7 straight, and a team that sends Betsy packing.
  16. Alcoa 7 CAK 3 At half CAK came to play, Alcoa has had a hard time running.
  17. http://content.usatoday.com/sportsdata/football/ncaaf/stats/all-purpose-yards?loc=interstitialskip Here is the link for anyone interested. Way to go Randall!
  18. Interesting thread. As an Alcoa alum and fan I of course pull for CAK. However, I wish Polk would get their shot at Alcoa, just so they can have a meeting with reality. As some fans here clearly have a skewed perception of reality. CAK has seen a smash mouth run team in Alcoa, and I can assure you Alcoa runs the ball better than Polk can imagine. CAK will be ready. Polk won't get that chance though, as CAK will win by 2 touchdowns if not more. Good luck CAK!
  19. Yawn, is it this time of year again. I'm not sure Alcoa does keep a certain record of tuition athletes that start. What I can say is the playmakers and collegiate guys to my knowledge have came from inside alcoa. Many of the kids play together from middle school and before. A lot of the success starts with feeder programs. I find it funny that a school the size of Alcoa is thought to just be busting with tallent from surronding areas.
  20. What a game. Props to both teams for a clean game and leaving it all on the field. Awesome win for Alcoa!! I could not be more excited. I wondered if it would feel less special than last year, but it didn't. This game was a classicc and goes into my top 3 for sure. May be many years before a game like this happens again. Will be hard to speak at 8am tomorrow for work as well. And to think I didn't remember Maryville week till last Friday. Congrats Alcoa! This game was between 2 superb teams, and I see no one in 3A getting in Alcoas way, sure I don't know the rest of the teams but I know the one that matters. I'm certain GQ will correct issues and have Maryville back in the mix to bring home more gold.
  21. I know we have nothing to prove, but sometimes its fun to mess with the trolls, especially the ones that beat on dead horses.
