  1. Why didn't he send his kid to Zion Christian then? They are in the same county close to Giles , they have a higher overall school grade and send a higher percentage of their students to college...they aren't very good at basketball though.
  2. Hey ding dong I'm on your side! However, if I was going to argue education I would try to communicate a little more clearly. I'm not 100% sure what you even said.
  3. Test scores comparing public and private is a garbage statistic! Public schools test EVERYONE! Public tests SPED , low income , single parent , kids who have ZERO support at home , kids who have ZERO aspirations for further education , and kids who didn't eat or sleep the night before. How many of those kids do private schools test? Take the top 10 % of students in both public and private and you wont know the difference in test scores. Thats the same thing that irks me when they say New Guinea or some third world country has higher science scores than the USA. We educate and test everyone, the rest of the world tests their best and brightest only! What was wrong with my attitude? I didnt say i would send my kid there or that I approved. You said academics was the reason kids transferred , I said that was not 100% true. You even agreed with me??
  4. Thats the classic excuse for people who have or want to break transfer rules. If there were no transfer rules and Michael Jordan was coaching at the LOWEST performing academic school in America there would be a line 6 miles long to transfer in there!
  5. I will miss seeing Coach Lunsford pace the sideline from across the field. I've only had the pleasure of seeing him stomp up and down the sideline in frustration from across the field once. I knew we had done something special when we had that man frustrated on the sideline. Great Coach , Great Man , truly one of my closest friends in the Coaching profession. He will be missed and I wish him the best. I hope he catches all the fish in Carter County now!
  6. By no means am I taking up for UH but Greenback fans (older woman and man) had to be removed from the game at Cosby and heard from refs that the same two were removed from a game at Washburn. Also a younger set of parents thought it smart to go set in our student section then complain about what they heard over there?? That being said most of the GB fans I’ve been around seemed to be nice people. We all have some knuckleheads I guess.
  7. There has been a uknoit2 sighting at the Eagles Nest! I’ll come holler at ya at halftime. Don’t let no Bulldogs bite me when come over there.
  8. It’s very wet and there are some bad spots near creeks and rivers but for the most part I believe we’re ok. I’m afraid some areas between here and there may end up postponing our game though. I haven’t heard anything yet however.
  9. You're right, Athletically and physically GB is a matchup nightmare for most small 1A teams. #23 (I think) is one of the most athletic big guys around. Your great big fella will send shots out of the paint left and right and if he's having a good night offensively GB is a tough out for anybody. I honestly think we are the team to beat in the region right now but i also think there are 4-5 teams capable of winning it. I'm afraid region 2 is gonna be tough on any of us come sub state time however.
  10. Bring the whole town on down to Cosby this weekend. Hosting both yalls teams. We are playing pretty good right now with the exception of a poor shooting first half in the semis against Greenback! Look forward to seeing you this weekend. I will be at both games.
  11. Who's gonna win district 1? Our 4 district 2 teams headed to the region are already set. This is the best 1-4 district 2 has been in as long as I can remember. Cosby , Hancock , and Greenback are all strong teams and Jellico has one kid who can hurt you and really carry his team if need be. I'm biased but I feel Cosby is the team to beat in District 2 once again. Early it looked like Hancock and Greenback may give us trouble even lost one to Greenback, but we have come on strong as of late. Should be a fun Region tourney!
  12. AMEN! I've said this for years for all High School sports. Train em better , pay em better , retain the good ones fire the bad ones. You're not gonna get or keep quality officials for the pay they make and the abuse they take every game.
  13. EXACTLY! whos gonna pay for em and whos gonna run em? I see it at least every other game, the parent who is running the clock for free admission and a hot dog screws something up on accident and the refs spend 10 minutes fixing it. Also can you imagine the uproar about the ball touching the rim and no reset or vice versa! I wouldnt want to be the person doing that job!
  14. I've never seen kids get eligible right away for leaving because they cant get along with other kids on the team. I'm not trying to be mean and if the transfer was going the other way you know Greeneville would make it work. I'm just saying the young man may be making a mistake if he thinks its easy to just change schools and get eligible right away.
  15. If you dont have a good defensive player who can lock down a quick little guard their PG will wear you out. We have run em out of the gym twice but they do have the talent to sneak up and get about anyone if you have an off night.
  16. You guys have had a couple seasons lately were i thought you had a legit shot at going to Cookeville.
  17. I think the difference between District and Region still confuses a lot of people. Someone asked about Region 1 on a thread a while back and when I commented about Cosby and Northview (at the time) I was a moron because we were in Region 2???? lol. I tried to explain the difference in District and Region but i didnt get anywhere with that! Also a lot of our old school fans still think we are in District 1 like we were in the 80's and early 90's.
  18. We’ve beat y’all twice by double digits! Just sayin..
  19. We graduate a Center/DE who played very little Defense and a couple of WR/DB's who played and contributed. We were mostly sophomores last year with 3 or 4 juniors sprinkled in.
  20. Did you stop in Elizabethton and get those tooth brushes? I know yall aint got any on Roan MT.
  21. I wouldnt pick against Hampton or HV. Hampton has loads of tradition and solid talent every year. HV has had 1,859 kids on the sideline every year so they just keep reloading. I feel like SN and SG graduate alot from last year. Cosby will be better we only graduate 6 kids and only 2 starters. Not sure if were ready to compete for #1 just yet but playoffs arent out of the question.
  22. Did yall soften em up for us? Cause we went up there Saturday and wore em out!
  23. Thats my favorite thing about Cosby, it has a very rural middle of nowhere feel while being 10 minutes from Newport and shopping and groceries and restruants , 20 minutes from Gatlinburg Sevier County and all that mess, an hour from Knoxville and Asheville. We are an hour or less away from basically ANYTHING you could want to do, while still being "in the middle of nowhere"!
  24. At one point in football N.Greene was our closest district game and they're over an hour away. We arent exactly in the middle of nowhere were just not very close to other small schools.
