  1. Cascade should be impressive after returning everyone, but most of those are seniors this year. Community will be "better" this year. Pickett had a young team with 4 sophs and 1 junior last year and still made substate (although that region is the weakest this side of knoxville) Van Buren County had two impressive sophomores that started for them last year. Temple returns almost everyone off a substate team that self destructed in the substate. Nashville Christian returns everyone except one starter off a substate team.
  2. I'm just thrilled that all the west people are reading about what this post is about before giving us their 2 cents. This is not apreseason top 8, but rather a ranking of the top 8 that will meet at the boro in march. therefore, there can't be a million teams from the west in the ranking.
  3. I'm so glad you're back refuge. Your screen name really should be comedy central b/c your posts are always so hilarious. Your boys would be in a tussle w/ VB if not for one lost player? Haha You were more than one player away from contention... even with 3 more years experience. I wouldn't be so confident about finishing ahead of MTCS either. And Forrest being better? I mean it is very possible, but not probable after losing two players the caliber of Ezell and Minor. And Eagleville's bench was strong? C'mon they pretty much used the one player (the shooter) and he is one dimensional. Am I saying they won't finish 3rd- not at all, they are very capable, but your take is laughable. And if you paid attention you would know VB was not lacking speed. I did not attend a lot of their games so I don't know why they lost so many close ones, but I bet if VanBurenEagle gets on here and lets us know it pobably won't be lack of speed. Cascade has to be everyone's team to beat until proven otherwise.
  4. That's all great & good, but at the beginning I asked everyone to put who would meet in the boro and then rank those 8. Unless they have changed the tournament format 4 teams from the west can't make it.
  5. Okay here we go: Lets see who everyone thinks will meet at the end of the year. This is not a Top 8 of all of Single A. Tell me who you think will come out of each sub state to meet in Murfreesboro & then rank those 8 accordingly. 1. Union City - In my book they are the champions until their first loss to another A team. After that, we'll see. 2. Lake County - loads of returning talent from team that has been on the verge for 2 years. 3. Temple - return everyone of importance: how will new coach work out? 4. Nashville Christian - 4 starters return plus Montessori transfer will help take load off of Frasier (rich get richer) 5. Pickett County - everyone back from sub state team: weak region helps. 6. Cascade - Returns everyone off of solid squad: Hall is a beast! 7. Oliver Springs - lots returning: young, good, energetic coach. 8. Cosby - best in the east last year, will make return trip. My own personal opinion: Finals will be Lake County & Temple if they aren't on same side of bracket.
  6. Is that the melear from Crosby? The same one that was like 0 for 30 in the state tournament? Anyways - the single A spot will go to culleoka's pt grd (sorry, forgot name) or temple's skogen.
  7. Alright here we go again. My thoughts right now: 1 - Cascade - gotta be with everyone back until someone else beats them. 2 - Forrest - Shankle, boyer, and gentry lead way 3 - Eagleville - Fast pace and zone keeps them in it, but just lost too much 4 - Van Buren - Lost a lot, should compete with 2 & 3, but not w/ cascade 5 - MTCS - well coached team lacks a little, unless they have transfers 6 - Community - should compete w/ mtcs and sweep Boyd 7 - Boyd - will lose every game. Player of the year - 3 horse race between shankle from forrest, smith from van buren, and hall from cascade
  8. Why do the rankings (strength of schedule and otherwise) not take into account games played against higher classification teams? I noticed this during the basketball season and was just curious. If a A team plays a AA team it seems to me that it would help their ranking more even if their win percentage is weak. Is their not a way to weight these games (sort of like a weighted GPA in academics) so that a game played against a .500 AA team is worth more than a game against a .500 A team? This is in no way meant as a complaint. I think coachT is great and you do a great job, I am just curious.
  9. This was not a quarterfinal game. UC, Humboldt, Clay, Grace, Wayne and ER were all better than Cosby. Wouldn't have had problems? Forget the West (they are oviously the strongest region) if Cosby and Cloudland would have been in middle tennessee they wouldn't have made it to the boro either. Pickett, Temple, Columbia Academy, and NCS were all better than those two. Not to mention a few others (Cully, Summertown, etc.) Congrats on all of your accomplishments, but if some of us could have played in the east we would accomplish the same things. No- they were 20 points better. Officiating was fine. You scored that many because of the style of play. If you had played the middle tennessee teams they would have slowed the pace down, contested your shots, and you still would have lost. Not to mention the fact that these teams probably would have scored more against that 2-3 than they did against the others who actually play defense.
  10. according to coacht they won 13 games 2 years ago and 23 last year. Not sure how many seniors they lost in between those years. Probably none to see that kind of improvement though.
  11. I don't have a team and have the upmost respect for what JC has accomplished. It's just my opinion that they won't be THE favorite to win it all next year after losing so many talented players. RBS would have to be the early favorite only losing 1 and returning so much. I agree whole heartedly that JC will be ONE OF THE FAVORITES as you stated in the 2nd post, but not THE favorite that you 1st posted. There is a huge difference in the two. As far as my predicition about the boys- I was wrong. Big deal- you've been wrong a bunch on here.
  12. My apologies. I was sitting pretty close and I guess my ears decieved me. The people I was with thought the same thing, but our mistake. Good luck to Forrest.
  13. I would not be so proud of myself if I were you. With that chant of bull_ _ _ _ you lost my respect completely. I went to the tournament to cheer for your young ladies, but it was hard not to cheer for RBS after that stunt. You made your whole community look bad as well as some fine players who didn't deserve that.
  14. No- they are not. You live in a dream world.
  15. This pickett bunch MAY make a state tourney appearance before they graduate, but i doubt it. And it definitely won't happen this year.
  16. Clay is better at home because of the officiating but I won't go into details about why because that might get this board closed, but people in the midstate know why. Officials won't come from around here though for the game tonight so I don't look for clay to have too much of an advantage at home. Temple IS the better team. They will win. But like i said before: at least clay's seniors get to end their careers at home right? That's got to count for something.
  17. Congrats to Clay on a fine season. It's nice they will be able to end it it Celina in their own gym this year.
  18. Okay watched this team play Van Buren and Eagleville and here's the skinny: Don't let #4 touch it as much as possible, when he does force him left. He has no right hand. Eagleville couldn't stop him, but they play all zone and aren't great on ball defenders, so? #3 is a spot up shooter and a good one if Van Buren had guarded him at all in the first half NCS would already be at home. Make him put it on the floor. #52 is their best post. He works hard for boards, but isn't a great scorer with his back to the basket. Bottom line is stop the outside shot. This team is well coached, they play smart (especially #22), and they are hard to force into turnovers. Physically though, they can be overpowered.
  19. First I was shocked to see anyone from either side have anything negative to say after watching the game. Both sides played brilliantly and like some have said neither deserved to lose. #54 for forrest and #42 from vb are both good posts (even i believe). The difference was that vb concentrated on doubling down on forrest while the rockets elected not to. That is why 42 played better. I wouldn't call it tripling though because really it was just good help side defense by the eagles. After two games both decided by three points and one in double o/t I am not sure how anyone can say these two teams are anything but equals. I am so glad i chose this game in middle tn to watch last night. It did not disappoint. #24 played huge for forrest. It took a scramble for a loose ball for him to get another chance at that 3 he hit in the 1st o/t but he hit it when he got the chance. Please no more negativity about these two good programs. And can anyone tell me how eagleville beat vb. I've seen them play and regardless of what goforthegoal says don't think they are as good (cascade either for that matter). I realize they are second in the standings and that is what matters, but i have a hard time believing they beat them again. Just an outsiders view though.
  20. I THINK that East Robertson is ahead with East Lit. and White house heritage right on their heels and Jo Byrns is running 4th. It would help some if these schools made sure there scores were posted as it's often hard to tell when there is nothing on here or in the tennessean about the games.
  21. 1.Wright 2.Walden 3.Wright (although he and Godwin probably lead the world in "carries" or "palming" 4.Rich 5.Capps 6.Wright (Ferrell is not in his league) 7.I haven't seen them play, but this has to go to someone left over from the meador days at RBS- I mean that's all they did was pass. 8.Rich and it's not close 9.Walden (like Dawg05 said: see the FCS game) 10.I am going with Rich, but Godwin will get the votes from the coaches
  22. Eagleville scores in bunches because they run up and down the floor like crazy and just heave at the first sight of an open look. They play no defense whatsoever. Forrest is well disciplined and plays on both ends and will win this game. Fresh- these are not the best two teams in the district. Van Buren and Cascade will finish above eagleville and possibly even MTCS. I have seen all of these teams play and any one is capable of beating the other but right now Van Buren and Forrest are the two most talented teams in the district.
  23. After deciding to attend this game (who knows why) I must say that HS was much more impressive than I expected. Also, the game was a little more out there than they are claiming. It was not 6 with a minute and a half to go and it did "end up" being an 11 point win not 9. VB had stretched the lead out late, but it ended up being a little closer. That is not to take anything away from HS though. They will definitely make some noise this year, and for these RBS people who continue to bash them- I just say to the HS people to be patient. Because you will get yours against them this year. You are fundamentally sound and very patient on offense which are both good tools to work with. It will remain to be seen though how you respond to pressure though as VB never really got after you.
