  1. First thing, are we ever going to play man-to-man again or is CCHS going to die playing that zone defense. They have been beat now by Jackson Co. mainly because of that, they did not play well, but this definitely was the wrong defense. LA also beat CCHS because Edwards refuses to pull out of the zone defense. Another thing is we have 6'5" guy on our team, his name is Dustin Rich, but apparently no one can see him. GIVE HIM THE BASKETBALL. When you have someone that size on your team, and someone that can play like he can play, why not give him the ball. Believe in the post, and maybe the gaurds can get some more high quality shots, instead of having to shoot shots where they are covered up. If he does not score 15 points a game, something is most definitely wrong. But also I understand that he CANNOT score because he does not get the ball. Two things are most likely to blame for that, one is Rob Edwards does not try to get the post the ball, he does not seem to run many plays for them, and definitely does not urge the gaurds to throw them the ball unless they are WIDE opened. Which leads me to the second point, the gaurds do not seem to want to get him the ball, or at least they don't look at him much, I don't know if they have that little confidence in their passing game, or they just want the points for themselves. Something is definitely up there though, and if they plan on going very far in the tournaments, they need to figure out what is going on. OK, Dawgs have two choices left for this season, one is they can pick their heads up, PLAY BASKETBALL, and stop fooling around, and the second choice is they can get down hearted, give up and get ready to start playing baseball, because at this point in the season, that are the two choices they have left.
  2. My goodness, my goodness, what a mistake it may have been. Maybe this is the time for the "devilfanatic" to put his foot in his mouth because from what I just seen, JC put a good Spankin' on CCHS. Pick it up Dawgs, or there will be an early exit in the region tournament.
  3. Question???? Does it seem to anyone else that Clay County wins alot more games when the scoring is more evenly distributed. All 10-15, not a 27 and a 25, just wondering if anyone else noticed that? Seems they play much better when everyone scores, and maybe they should be focused on getting everyone points, although I am aware that Saylor had a GREAT shooting night. Good Luck to the Dawgs during the Tourney's!
  4. I disagree completely that Edwards did the same thing last year Bibb did this year. One thing Saylor is a returning starter, and Rich played quite a few minutes his sophomore year. Now, for the other starters, Godwin started at Jackson Co., and Casey could have gotten a lot of minutes at any school besides Livingston Academy, because politics is not as big elsewhere as it is in Livingston. Ferrara also got a few minutes the year before last. Nathan Strong got some playing time his sophomore year, but was out due to injury his junior year, so I cannot see where they were down. Jacob Wright got some minutes last year, but not a lot of minutes, Brett Roddy got some minutes last year, as did T.C. Capps, but neither played big roles, and Roddy is not that great, and Capps has come a long way. Brent Logan has also came a long way, and I cannot even remember the other starters name, not like he is not important, but it has slipped my mind for some reason. They have no bench, and Rob have 4-5 guys last year that could have played, had he chose to give them the chance to. I cannot see how last year for Edwards was even close to Bibb this year, and not even the records match up with Pickett only losing six games, and Edwards lost 10 last year, which could still happen for Pickett, but not as of now.
  5. I would say most VB fans are going to say CCHS layed great and lost, etc, not an upset. They showed up and still lost????? When one of the top rated teams in the state is beat by someone that is not, that is an upset. Another thing is they must have not played that good. To end the half, CCHS turns the ball over, and then fouls. Not sure on the first free throw, but one of them was definitely missed, they let VB rebound, and then score a 22 ft. 3-pointer to pull it to 24-22 at the half. With 1 minute and 30 seconds left in the 4th quarter, CCHS was up by 4, what happened after that I am not sure. They then came back to send it to overtime and the rest is history?????If Clay County plans on going anywhere past Watertown this season, they may want to start playing because otherwise they will be going home in the 2nd round of the district. Clay County needs to hold on to and remember that funnier things have happened, and let RBS be an example when Celina put them out 3 years ago after they were dominant in the district, and we were the #3 seed. It can happen, keep this in mind when you go out to Gainesboro Thursday night, and good luck to the Dawgs.
  6. Lol.......Oh, you are Serious??????? Van Buren can pull this out if Clay Co. plays bad and Van Buren plays AWESOME. Clay by 15 at least.
  7. LOL. If I remember correctly someone tryed to take a charge, and kind of flopped, possibly could have been a call either way, but could have also been a no call. Secondly, I don't know how the other person fell, but Tyler Kerr went in there jumping like a deer after a rebound, and landed on someone, rolled his ankle, oh I see it too, totally TC Capps fault. I agree. Give me a break, that's going low to tell someone that it was their fault for getting someone hurt....Shame on you TC you shouldn't have shot..Give me a break and grow up. I also don't see why you were referring back to the LA game, I would try ot forget that game if it was possible. I mean to call someone like that when they just demolished you by 40 pts, that's just not smart. Good job to CC and good luck against the Springers.
  8. Not many people realize how sick Wilson Cates was last year???????? Wilson Cates would not have pulled them through last year. Yeah, they may have only lost 9 games, but the level of competition they played last year was really NOT that good. Cates is a phenominal athlete, but he would not have pulled them through last year, and by getting on here and saying that he would have you disgrace the team they had. They may have been good enough to win last year, but they did not get the job done. Richard Melton has done an AWESOME job at LA, and will for many, many years to come. Awesome job Coach.
  9. This game was really good, but not as good as it could have been. The referees over asserted themselves in this game tremendously. One of the refs names was Anthony, and he was really, really bad, but that is about his usual as far as I know. I am a Clay Co. fan but I think this game was a real rip off for the Bobcats. However, they played an awesome game, and both teams deserved to win this one. Jacob Wright played really good as well. Great job to both teams.
  10. That's a bet. If they were healthy, it wouldn't have made up for the loss at Clay Co., and by the way FCS just won the game at FCS 58-52. First of Clay Co. is a very good team, and Saylor is a good player, but not good enough to have made up for the bad play of the other four players at home. In this game, Rob Edwards got a Technical mid ways through the fourth quarter that really hurt them and probably cost them the game. Godwin- 18, Rich-10. Another thing that really HURTS the Clay County team is the fact that they have a 6'5'' Post in Dustin Rich, but they will NOT use him. HE should average 20 per game at least. GIVE HIM THE BALL. I think alot of people in the Celina crowd get tired of seeing so many bad shots by the gaurds, although there are alot of good shots as well, but they have to pass the ball in to Rich. He can score, but not if he don't get the ball. He played awesome, and scored well against the Christian school a couple of Saturdays ago, and guess what, that was one of the few games he has got the ball consistently in. Clay County needs to hold their heads high, as I can not remember the last time celina won against FCS during the regular season. Come back and get them in the playoffs, that's what matters anyways. Keep up the good work, and good luck against Livingston Academy on Saturday. Should be a good one.
  11. When is this game going to be played and where is it at? I would say Livingston should win this game, but they HAVE to play the second half, they have already lost once this year at least, because they thought they had the game won at halftime, so it seems anyways. Good Luck to the Cats, Cats by 11.
  12. I am going with Macon Co. by 7-10 points, assuming they decide to play ball. Hermitage Springs should have all kinds of problems gaurding Colby Stenson, and if his team helps out any at all, they will definitely win this game. I think Hermitage Springs is hyped up to be more than they actually are this year, assuming they only beat Monterey by a few points, and Monterey has ABSOLUTELY no one. I think Macon Co. has the potential to be a decent team. At Livingston, no one but Stenson could score, and that is what's killing them right now, they have to have someone else to step up and play some basketball. Good Luck to both teams, this should be an awesome game.
  13. From what I have seen this year from these two teams, it will be a really good game. first of all, T.C Capps cannot get in foul trouble as quick as he has been. Jacob Wright and the Logan kid have to shoot the ball in order for them to win. They can beat Van Buren, but it will all come down to how much they want it.
  14. Nice quote!LOLOLOLOL!!!!!! I never thought I would see the day that teams would be "ready" for Hermitage Springs.LOL
  15. Westmoreland and Macon Co. should come out in the title game, if Macon Co. plays like they can. Colby is going to have to put up better numbers than at Livingston though, or maybe his team will have to help out a little.
  16. You are extremely off if you think the defense had nothing to do with 32% from the field. By saying this, you are saying that if there was absolutely no defense, and they were shooting on an empty court, then they would have still shot 32%, and if that is not what you are saying then the Defense contributed. The General is exactly right about the percentages. To think that Cookeville shot so bad and LAs defense did not contribute at all is ridiculous. LA plays run and gun ball and that wears on teams, and as we all know that will throw your shot off, maybe they were shooting bad at first, but they did not shoot any better when they were tired I am sure. Good Luck to LA and Congrats to them and Coach Melton on the victories so far this season.
  17. LA has a ton of good freshman, but Chase Dunn and Devon Ramsey are definitely the class of the field for them in 2009. That should be the best year that Livingston has ever had unless they make some noise before that year. They also have some good ones coming up this year out of 8th grade from Allons and Rickman. They should have a dominating team to say the least. Good Luck to the Cats!!!!
  18. The first starter to go down was Saylor Walden with a foot injury that'll sideline him 2-3 weeks. The second one was Casey Ferrell, but from what I understand he is fine and is not "down." The Clay bench could probably handle Gordonsville anyways, from the way teh last game went. Good Luck to the Dawgs.
  19. I might have missed them but I did not hear many BIG plays on defense by anyone, just good D as usual by LA. Cates Dunn Matthews and Smith all had HUGE 3s in the second half, congrats to the Cats.
  20. Livingston may have had no chance, but neither did they in football, and they just won the state title. If you were listening, you would know they also just won the game. Cookeville is a good team, especially Acres and Matt Hill. They are better then they've been in a very, very long time, but LA is better then they have been too. They should go far this season, and if they do they deserve it. Final scoring (for the game that cookeville was supposed to win) but LA did 55-53.Final Scoring was Hennigan with 15 Hill with 11 Cox 8 7 Stearman 5 Acres 4 Williams 4 Wolf. LA Matthews with 14 Monday 10 9 Cates 9 Dunn 8 I think for Ruble. This game is an example of how any one can lose at any time or win at any time. LA done good, and pulled it out. Congrats to the Cats and Good Luck over Christmas break.
  21. First, Saylor hurt his foot, maybe a sprain 2-3 weeks is estimate I heard. Secondly, Pope John Paul was hall of fame game, and everyone knows they don't count on the record unless you want them to. Therefore, Clay was 7-0, does not matter now though does it? FightClub P.s. to play 4 fun- I never said that the coaches were on coacht hyping themselves...I would hope they wouldnt stoop to that level....fans on here most definately were, (maybe players I don't know, alot of people say we!) but the coaches from pickett and unaka after being at pickett's tournament earlier this year were saying that celina is going on and on about how good they are going to be this year and how they don't think anyone will touch them...those are FACTS-- deal with it or blame it on my illusions if you want to continue living in denial. Like you said, to think Clay Co. coaches would do that is pauthetic. I can't really believe you got on here and put that. At this Pickett tournament they supposedly said, or did not say these things, I am REALLY sure that clay was not playing at PC this year, coaches may have been there, I don't know. But, I bet they weren't engaging in the things you are saying they did. Besides, one loss is not the end of the season, they are not overrated, and as far as the "hype" goes, it was not the players or the coaches. Now, if we want to talk about "hype", go through and count all the boards on coacht, you will find two things, one group complaining, and one group "hyping". ON EVERY board everyone is talking about the team they have, etc, but Clay lost one game so far this season, so they are the ones that are bragging. I see. Good Luck to the Dawgs, you should kill G-ville by going out and proving a point early.
  22. That's agreed. THey will definitely have a practice to remember today. I think it's unfair though that you get on here as soon as the game is over and say tehy were overrated. Yeah, they lost one game WOW. They have won about seven times that many. Let them lose a few more before they cancel the season and throw in the towel, I think the overrated CRAP is a little early in the season. Don't you. Good Luck to Clay next week at G-ville, should be a blowout again.
  23. I have not seen the players on here hyping themselves up. I know the coaches names and have not seen them on here. Maybe this so called "hype" is a figment of your imagination. You have got something that you say Pickett coach said, they call those Urban myths he said she said I said we siad. BULLCRAP. we lost, i bet that disqualifies us from state, huh? Are we over rated? should we quit? What are your EXPERT suggestions, I mean coming from someone who only knows the score, what would you think we should do? I am very interested to see why people think Clay is overated, OMG they lost ONE game. I'm sure thats a dissappointment, but gees guys, come one, i also dont remember clay saying they were invincible, theres those imagination figments again. There has to be some drugs for that. Maybe some psychological medicine or something, maybe you should find out.
  24. I agree that is a really impressive schedule. I got a good idea, let's just cut the a Gold Ball in half, and we will let Mitchell have half of it, and Bolivar have half of it. I mean no reason to play the rest of the season, they done know who is going to win the state tournament. ONe problem! There is a funny thing about rankings, every now and then, on any given night, the number one team LOSES. College basketball is a prime example, there are 4 #1 seeds in the national tournament, and I would say it's a DARN GOOD bet they won't all win it. I would also say I got a one in sixty-four chance that none of them do. So Bolivar can be rated #1 in the country and Mitchell #2 or whatever, and I am not saying that Livingston will beat them, but i am definitely not going to say they DO NOT have a chance. I can't see why we even play a regular season, I mean with the CoachT experts, we should just take their rankings, and give all the teams a seed and play the tourney starting in November, I mean that's waht you are saying essentially. How about we let the players decide the tournament, not a bunch of BIG MOUTHS that can type on a keyboard, I can get on here and say Livingston will win state, and at this point in the season, they have as much of a chance as Bolivar, Mitchell, York, or Macon Co. There are the same amount of teams in AA so they all have a 1 in how ever many teams there are chance. Livingston may not win it this year, but give them two. Then we'll be talking a more suitable state team, once these young kids have experience. Good Luck to the Cats and coach Melton.
  25. Congrats to the Blue Devils. Don't hang your heads PC, you got another chance at home, should be a good one. Congrats to the devils though.
