  1. If this were to be put into place to "help the defense" then it only makes sense that the college 10 second count rule be put into place as well. Before entering the ball into the front court, if the ball is knocked out of bounds by a deflection, your 10 second back court count would not restart (in other words if it went out of bounds on a 7 count, you would have 3 seconds to get it across half court). IMO, that rule needs to be added before the shot clock, as it is a LOT more relevant in every game.
  2. I attached the term that the vast majority of travel programs associate with them. I clearly said that no one can fault them, but it happens. Believe what you want, but across the state, most programs will have a negative connotation to the way they conduct "business." That is not saying that it is bad for the kids they have, but talk to others throughout the AAU/Exposure circuit and see if you don't hear the same sentiment that I am saying. I am not saying at all that is what I believe, BUT that is what the majority would say.
  3. Sir, reread my post. I clearly said "no one can fault them for leaving if they think that is their best opportunity to play college basketball, BUT that is how most programs statewide would feel about it." I did not say they were wrong or right by doing that. I am telling you that's how most feel. People have to do what they think is best for their kid and their family, which I think...is what my post said?
  4. What I mean by "sold out" is the vast majority of these players do not play with the Flight program until 9th, 10th, 11th grade. When they decide to do that, often times they leave a program they have been with since 3rd or 4th grade and often times that leaves that program without their best player or players. Not that anyone can fault them for leaving if they think that is the best opportunity for them to play college basketball, but that is how most programs statewide would feel about it.
  5. Unless it has changed within the last twelve months, there is still a tryout. I can get you the information on that fairly easily if you need it. Why does it make no sense to say "run by Insell" as you said? I never said that was necessarily a bad thing. What I said was that NEB, which is National Exposure Basketball, is ran by the Insells which is 100% affiliated with the Nike Flight organization. If you go to the National Exposure Basketball website and click on contact, it will give you the info for an Insell to contact. That is not saying anything bad about them at all, but just stating a fact that it is closely associated with Nike Flight organization. I said nothing negative about the Flight program either. I just stated that players hadn't sold out to Flight yet, so they were not included on this list. There are some players that stick with the teams they have played on for years, and are plenty good enough to play with the Flight teams, but they have stayed loyal to who they started with. Maybe that is bad for them, maybe it is good. I am not to judge that. Some kids left off the list for sure. Hannah Garrett who already has an offer from Tennessee Tech. Courtney Pritchett who in two state tournament appearances as a freshman and sophomore is averaging 20 points and 11 rebounds per game. Her average for her career is double digits in both rebounds and points and will be so again this year. Same with Hannah Garrett's. That being said, the list includes mostly people tied with the NEB network, which is Flight. Can't fault them for marketing the kids that they have in their own program.
  6. There are a ton of different directions this could go. First, let me say, that I LOVE the fast paced style of play. However, the game is not played to benefit the fans. So, that really should not be taken into effect. The biggest thing this does is takes out ONE piece of strategy for a coach that may not have a team capable of competing for 32 minutes with another team. Now, does that mean that the best team wins every time? Absolutely not. But, that is the cool part of high school basketball.
  7. It would not make more sense without the Flight kids. That is not what anyone is saying, I don't think. Everyone knows there are several high caliber kids in that program. However, to insinuate that those two were the only ones that would have made the list is beyond naive. There are a LOTTTTT of kids in the state of Tennessee that still haven't sold out to the Flight banner that could have. Believe that as fact.
  8. NEB media is run by National exposure basketball, which is basically the Insell brand. Almost all of these kids are Nike Flight kids or they may not be on this list.
  9. Clark range beat LA by 7 points. Final score was 40-33 Clarkrange!
  10. 1/2 Clarkrange or Pickett...depending on who dictates pace. 3/4 Jackson or Clay...Clay probably deeper but can they get over the mental hump of beating Coach Brown and Jackson County. 5 Monterey...just out gunned this year. Key Players to watch for each of the top 4: Clarkrange- Kara Meadows and Hannah Garrett, along with new transfer Reese Stover Pickett- Abbi Buck and Courtney Pritchett, along with a wealth of fairly unknown players that will turn some heads throughout the year Jackson- Kaitlyn Pippin and the new transfer post player from Shelbyville Clay County- Jada Kerr and Taylor Strong, along with Kenzie Arms in the post
  11. UC is correct. After Mills leaves, the boys and girls in that district will be swept year in and year out unless something in that area changes dramatically!
  12. Sub state should be Region 4 (Districts 7 and 8). I believe that is the same region that Moore County and that area would be in if I am correct.
  13. My bet would be on South Greene to repeat as State Champs! I also thing Gibson County, Middleton, Moore County, and 2 of the 3 between Clarkrange, Pickett Co, and Jackson Co. In District 7A, anything can happen, and I could see any of those three making it, though I believe PC and Clarkrange have to be the front runners!! I do not see anyone in the Chattanooga area competing for a spot this year as Van Buren has in the last few years.
  14. 1. Upperman 2. Livingston Academy 3. Smith County 4. Central Magnet 5. Macon County 6. York Institute 7. Cannon County 8. Dekalb County I literally have no clue about CM. I think UHS is clearly the best team in the district, but will be surprised if they get through the district without an upset loss. I would not be surprised to see LA knock them off in the tourney at least once. LA has some kids that can definitely play and can score, but will have to see how they replace Lamb. I think UHS has a harder time replacing Medley, Eldridge and Farris than they think they will have. Smith County returns the majority and I suspect they may beat LA at least once, but not sure they have the horses to run with UHS. Not sure about CM. Macon will be in the running for 4th if Magnet doesn't have a solid group. Macon will be younnnggggg though, playing mostly freshman I suppose. York institute has two of the better players in this district, but it's a mess up there and I could see them finishing bottom of the district before it is all said and done (even with a couple of the better players in the district). I know nothing about Cannon county, so they could be better than I have them picked. Dekalb has the potential to move up the list, but it will depend on how they adapt to their third coach in the last six months. They are mostly young as well, so I can see them getting better as the year goes on if they adapt well to the new coach. Good luck to all the 8AA teams this year.
  15. Is CPA and Webb School both gonna be in Division 2 starting with next school season? CPA is currently Division 1, right?
  16. Middle school tournament at Pickett County High School and Elementary School on November 14, 17, and 19th. Double sided bracket which guarantees three games each. Free to enter. Contact Matt Ferrell at 931-510-8835 if interested in getting in for all the details. Thanks.
  17. That middle school record is very misleading. Hilham is one of the smaller schools in Overton county. Competing with livingston, Allons and Rickman for several years is very difficult. For example, they play each twice a year (6 games) plus usually two of those in the county tourney (total of 8), as well as the state tourney which was at least one loss per year. That's 9 losses most years. On a good year you might could win half those games. The record is misleading in a tough area for junior high basketball.
  18. Ive watched a ton of basketball this year, and every year for that matter, and I would be willing to say that the girl from Boyd is the best I have seen play this year in single A. She's not up for miss basketball but was a nominee for McDonalds all American which shows how political that all that miss and mr basketball stuff is. That's not intended to take away anything from any of them, but the girl is legit. Belmont is getting an outstanding player in her. The lamb girl is also a heck of a player and Pickett will have their work cut out for them in trying to contain her.
  19. Just wondering but it looks like HBIC might have started posting on coachT about the time when Pickett got extremely good...since their first post was October of 2015. Now, we can only assume by the information and tone of the posts that ole HBIC isn't a big fan and most likely wants to distract a group of kids that aren't gonna be distracted. HBIC, let me know if you're headed to Boyd Saturday and I'll leave ya a ticket at the door. Maybe you can enjoy another game with us. Our girls like to play in front of anyone.
  20. The others aren't guesses....go look at the rankings in the state and nation....
  21. I have seen Cumberland County play many, many times. Many, many times over the years with this group. I have seen Blackman, Riverdale, Oakland too. But lets just let the results speak for themselves. This conversation will end itself on Saturday evening.
  22. I thought someone got one in there in the middle of the Riverdale run and the blackman run.
