  1. I'll agree there. I expect a barn burner here. I don't think either team is doing any overlooking
  2. They couldn't schedule ALL the 1A schools; FC won't play them And I'll vote Mitchell for best 1A linebacker. He's strong as well as fundamentally sound
  3. Not taking anything back. I have no idea what any of these guys go through/have been through in their personal life (except that they've all lived through it), and I certainly have no clue what kind of grades they make (except that they're good enough to play football). And I don't know any of them personally, so I don't know their character. And I don't pretend to. Apparantly, from what ya'll have said, Chad Jordan has shown some outstanding character recently. I really don't know. But I do know that we're (I say "we"; I don't actually have a ballot ) not selecting a delegate to represent the state at a convention, and we're not handing out a high average award for making the best grades. While those things are all well and good, this award is for the best FOOTBALL PLAYER. It has NOTHING to do with character, grades or circumstances. ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!
  4. He didn't say he was a Patriots scout. He just said that maybe Mr. Matlock isn't all that. OPINION mrcballer22, the same thing happened to me on the basketball board when I said Carter McMasters from Grace might not be as good as he's hyped up to be, so I know the feeling. Thought I'd jump in
  5. Although I think Smith wins in a close game, that is hilarious ROFL!
  6. What's wrong with that? And please tell me you're not trying to say that Jordan should actually get the Mr. Football trophy because he's had rougher circumstances (if that's even true; I have no clue) than the other 2??? And also please tell me you're not talking about classroom grades??? But maybe that whole post was sarcastic and I missed it.
  7. Who are/were the "large" private schools you're referring to? I don't recall a private school in TN that was considerably bigger than the publics they were playing against. Or were any bigger for that matter. Actually, most of the ones I can think of were smaller......Jog my memory
  8. I hear some nasty comments coming your way..... And has McNeal been at FC that long? I thought it was more like 7-8 years
  9. Well, I'm pretty sure it won't be Chad Jordan (settle down; not hatin' ) If a running back gets it, it will, and should be Dailey. Look at the stats. He averages 14 yards a carry, while Jordan averages 7.
  10. Tell me more; maybe I'm behind, but I haven't heard about this. 3 teams?
  11. Tell that to Charlie Ward. And I'm sorry, but if the basketball team played defense and pressed, the football team might not pass half court. Pressure defense would frustrate the football players, they'd all foul out, and it could get ugly; the score, that is, even if there were no more points scored other than free throws. And I never said (and don't think) that basketball requires more athleticism. Pro football players are more athletic than pro basketball players (in my opinion). I just think it requires more skill. One's not harder, you don't have to be more "athletic" for one than you do the other. They're two totally different sports. You must be a little stronger to play football, and a little more skilled to play basketball. Nice post
  12. TC vs. FC is nowhere near UT vs. UA. Historically, TC would mop the field with FC. The past few years, however, FC has come on strong and had really good teams, and I really do believe they're here to stay. But until FC gets a few gold balls under their belt (no pun intended ), they're not among the state's "elite" 1A programs.
  13. Maybe you're trying to down football; maybe not. I'm not sure. But if you are, it's not working I'll give you the point about the skill; I've always thought that, even though that thought isn't exactly popular (as we'll probably begin to hear in a second ) The fact is that it takes more skill (ON AVERAGE) to play basketball than it does football. But it DOESN'T require more practice. Only a different kind of practice. Not MORE work, just DIFFERENT work. It's comparable to a student in med school / doctor vs. ditch digger. One's not "harder" than the other, just requires different abilities and sacrifices. I personally love both sports, and am not trying to knock on either of them, by any means. I also think another important thing to mention is that football players (good ones, anyways:) have to have excellent field vision. Something to think about.....
  14. Heck of a game! Congrats to FC (and GV for that matter). Both teams played their guts out. And if I had to pick a team in the state to beat TT, it would be FC. Their secondary is more than enough to handle Skogen. FC is custom-made to beat TT, if you know what I mean. I expect a barn-burner. FC-21 TT-18
  15. They're #1 in the state and your coach is being considered for coach of the year. What else do you want (outside of the gold ball, of course )
  16. I think that was by default, if I'm not mistaken??? They hardly ever kick, and didn't in this game, right? Hard to not give coach of the year to Temple's coach after what they've done recently. Joe Byrns' coach is deserving as well.
  17. Wow! Sounds like a game that will be remembered for a long time! Thanks for the links oldtimeballer. The FC v. GV game was the same way. But hey guys, think about this: I know they picked it up towards the end of the season, but this was TC on a DOWN YEAR Scary, huh? But congrats to Temple. They deserve to be where they are now. In my mind they haven't gotten the respect they deserve. But you hardly hear their fans gryping; kudos to ya'll FC vs. TT should be a heck of a game as well.
  18. Should be a incredibly close game, as was the last one between these two (although Westmoreland won it more than the score indicated). I say it's a crap shoot, but I'll go with SC in a close one
  19. Yeah, tonight in Chattanooga there's gonna be a clinic on "How to Sack a Quarterback", presented by TC I heard they're even gonna have some of their gold balls on display Seriously though, I expect this to be a good game
  20. 141, I'll admit I haven't seen Skogen play personally. I get my info on him from friends. And I'm sure he's an excellent player. But I know Dailey's stats, and they are ridicilous. And much of my reasoning on this comes from the fact that, given a choice between an excellent running back and an excellent receiver, I'll take the running back/quarterback (in Dailey's case). So that's where I'm coming from there. But I don't have a dog in the fight, so I'm really not that concerned about it. I'm sure both young men are very deserving.
