  1. Where will these games be played? I know that the higher seeds host the quarterfinals on Saturday night. How does it work for the semifinals and finals?
  2. Bearden wins the other semifinal 61-51 over Hardin Valley.
  3. Does anyone have a list of the players who made all-district?
  4. That's the question everybody wants an answer to.
  5. I have heard a few names mentioned. There should be a lot of applicants nonetheless. It will be interesting how the administration handles this and if they try to handpick the next coach. Coach Blevins travels to the Arby's almost every year. I don't know anything about the validity of the DB rumor, but it would be a great landing spot for him if he wants to continue coaching.
  6. How many losses does Oak Ridge have this year? Have they lost to an in-state team?
  7. I was at the Knox Co. Middle School Championship last night. Northwest beat West Valley by about 18. Northwest had 5 STUDS out on the floor playing an entirely different level of basketball. Assuming these guys are 8th graders, does any one know where they will be going to high school next year?
  8. Bearden is one win away from being the champs! Rico White played a fabulous game netting 27 points and leading Bearden out of the gate early. Ty Greene ended up with 16 and got going in the 2nd half with consecutive 3 pointers. Spencer Peake played absolutely great and made some key plays throughout the game. I cannot understand why Siegel did not give the ball to Hurt every time down the floor. He had a 6'4 defender on him most of the game. Bearden's center, who is 6'6, was in foul trouble the whole game. I think this is all coaching. Run a play for him every time. If the players in the game are not giving him the ball, then put in someone that will give him the ball. When Siegel made a run in the 2nd half and tied up the game, Hurt was doing most of if not all of the scoring for them. Hurt ended up with 19 points, but should have had 40 if Siegel utilized him. Props to Coach Blevins and the Dawgs for weathering the storm and executing some plays to regain the lead in the 4th. They ran some backdoor buddy plays which led to some layups and a few fouls. Bearden will basically be playing an identical team tomorrow. A team that has great guards, wants to play fast, and will get after it on the defensive end. I think tomorrow the big things will be taking care of the ball and free throws. Minimize turnovers and take advantage of the points that are given to you. I think Bearden wins in a close one. In what might be an extremely chaotic, up and down game, I think that the discipline and composure of Bearden will shine through and they will be the STATE CHAMPIONS!
  9. I think quite a few people are predicting things unfolding the same way. Craigmont over Knox West. I would not be surprised if West won this game, but think that Craigmont will prevail. West plays a very physical in your face type of ball and I think this might hurt them at what is a traditionally tightly called tournament. White Station over Clarksville. The favorite handles Clarksville. Bearden over McMinn Co. Bearden should take care of McMinn pretty easily. Siegel over West Creek. Siegel's experience ans size come through against West Creek. In the semifinals: White Station over Craigmont. The Spartans are too much and make thier 4th straight state final. Bearden over Siegel. If Bearden is able to dictate the pace of the game and play fast and uptempo, they should win. Siegel has an advantage with their size if they are able to slow the game down, but that is something that is very hard to do against Bearden. Bearden advances to their first ever state final. In the finals: White Station over Bearden. White Station is too much for a Bulldog team that will fight until the final buzzer. Bearden does not have anyone that can play with Hollins for 32 minutes or matchup with the size of the Spartans.
  10. What is the rule for the draw? I know that Bearden and Knox West can't be on the same side because they are from the same region. Same thing with West Creek and Clarksville. Are there any restrictions placed on Craigmont and White Station or McMinn Co. and Siegel? They aren't from the same region, but their regions are matched up for sectional games.
  11. We have round 5 coming Thursday night between Bearden and West in Region 2. Bearden defeated Central 79-47 and West took care of Oak Ridge 75-66 to set up the matchup. This is a rematch of last year's region championship game. This will be a huge game with a crazy atmosphere at Bearden and the most important of the 5 times they have played this year. Assuming Science Hill wins Region 1, I don't think anyone wants to go to Johnson City on Monday.
  12. In the latest RivalsHigh Hoops 100 there are 4 teams from Tennessee that made the list. Melrose at #34 White Station at #45 Memphis Central at #46 Bearden at #71 Central and Melrose play tonight in what I'm sure will be an awesome game. Does Cameron Clear play basketball too? It's do or die time. 16 teams tonight are putting away the jerseys.
  13. I think the most notable thing going on in the AAA tournament is taking place out in Region 8. Melrose, Central and Southwind are on the same side of the draw. This means that only 1 of these teams is moving on. These are 3 of the teams mentioned in the original post and two of them will be going home. In Region 2, Oak Ridge and Knox West have a potential matchup set for Tuesday night. Yet again, another one of the teams mentioned that is putting the jerseys away. We shall see what takes place during what I'm sure will be a crazy week of basketball.
  14. You obviously just looked at the box score. The game was tied at halftime. It was a 1 point game with 2 minutes to go in the 3rd quarter. And it was a 7 point game with 4 minutes left in the 4th. They did end up losing by 12, but I think this shows it wasn't a blow out.
  15. Yes, I am a Bearden fan, but actually Bearden did win their district. They shared the title with West. They split district games and then Bearden beat them in a Christmas tournament. Thus, 2-1 dawgs on the season. They should play Wednesday in the district finals and I don't think that Bearden will lose on a neutral floor. Bearden is also the team that gave Melrose all they wanted in the state semis last year. There are two players on that team, not on this team, but Greene, White and Fair are a year older and a year better. Three really tough guards make this team go.
  16. I have an observation that I'm sure a lot of people have made, but wanted to throw it out there and see what people have to say about it. I know, I know, you can't put stake in the State Top 10, but these are the best teams in the state and it seems like I'm reading the same teams every week, just maybe in a different order. Of the 11 teams listed in the final poll, 6 come from West TN (Melrose, Southwind, White Station, Mem. Central, Craigmont, and Dyer Co.) and if I am correct only 2 of these schools will be able to make the trip to The Boro. Of the 11 teams listed in the final poll, 4 come from East TN (Bearden, Oak Ridge, Science Hill, and Knox West). Only 2 of these schools will be able to make the trip to the Boro. Siegel is the lone representative from Middle TN. So my question is, let's say the West TN and East TN schools listed combine for 4 spots and Siegel grabs the 5th spot, where are the other 3 teams going to come from? Who might be overlooked or who might have an easy path to Murfreesboro? I know who I want to be playing in the 1st round. A few predictions and I'm done: 1) Melrose doesn't make it back to State. The State Tournament basically starts right now in Memphis. Everyone wants to be the one to dethrone the champ. 2) Either there isn't a dominant team in Memphis (Melrose '10, White Station '09) or there are a lot of really good teams in Memphis. This is the best chance a team from East TN has to make a run in the tournament since Maryville in '07. I think that Bearden is the class of East TN and can do something special. 3) White Station wins it all. We will check back in about a month or so and see how these played out.
  17. I know mostly everyone thought that Bearden and West would be the class of this district which they have been, but I'm still confused. Do you do a coin flip against every team as a tie breaker? They couldn't have just singled out Bearden and West and flipped a coin, could they have? Also, it is going to be a big deal to win this district if Oak Ridge takes care of business over in 3-AAA. #2 is going to Oak Ridge in the semis for an elimination game. I would much rather be playing Central or someone else at home in that game. Should make for an exciting next few weeks.
  18. Why does West get the #1 over Bearden. If Bearden beats Farragut tomorrow they will have identical records with 1 district loss coming to each other. What is the tie-breaker to determine seeding? Is it whoever hasn't won the district in the longest amount of time?
  19. I know what everyone says about rankings, that they are for the fans and don't matter. But I have one question: How can White Station be ranked 44th in the country by rivals and be ranked 8th in the state in AAA!? This makes no sense! They are the highest rated team in Tennessee but according to the writers are the 8th best team in their class. C'mon man! I think the writers don't have a clue, and I have nothing to do with White Station, I am a Bearden fan.
  20. Does anyone know the field for the Arby's this year. I have tried to search for it but can't seem to find it. Thanks.
  21. Today in the KNS it said that the boys tournament has been held in Murfreesboro since 1989- where was it held before this?
  22. Does anyone know how these games went yesterday?
  23. Congrats to the Bulldogs! Good work in the 1st round. Anything can happen tomorrow. Thanks to Jesse Smithey for the twitter updates. It sounded like Rico White was ready to ball today. Its hard to believe all of the success that Bearden has had and this is only win #2 in the state tournament...ever. They have stalled out in recent years at this point in the season. Big step for the Bulldogs. Two more to go.
  24. Does anyone know if this game is being broadcast in the Knoxville area today? My prediction is Bearden 52 Beech 44.
  25. Can somebody that has some insight please explain how the draw works. From what I understand it is pretty simple except for the teams coming from the same region (ie melrose & white station in aaa). Any explanation or a link to the info on tssaa site if it is posted would be appreciated? Thanks.
