  1. Told ya. Bearden wins 83-60 and is going back to the 'Boro. I wasn't able to attend the game, so I have no analyis to offer. But at the end of the day you can play harder than the other team, but you got to put points on the scoreboard- or keep the other team from doing so. Hopefully the Dogs will get a good draw (not Melrose or White Station) and be able to make some noise next weekend.
  2. Does Boone have a fighting chance in this game? Bearden has been focused as of late and have been able to come through when "winning time" comes around in the game. My guess is that Bearden wins by 15-20. Greene and White will be too much for Boone. Thoughts?
  3. Bearden wins 69-46. They play the West v Lenoir City winner Thursday at Bearden.
  4. Bearden is up 34-23 at the half.
  5. First off, Jalen Steele is the real deal. That was the first chance I had to see him play a hs game and he didn't disappoint. I don't remember him having an open shot all night and he comes away with 20 points. Great defense was played on him by White, but better offense by Steele all night. The other best player on the floor was Robert Boyd. That kid got anything he wanted going to the basket in the 2nd half and hit a big time shot to win the game. Very impressed by his play. Hats off to Fulton and Coach Wright and good luck at your run for 3. Bearden showed some guts in the 4th quarter in battling back from a 9 point deficit and tieing the game in the end. They are going to have to get someone else to step up in these tournament games besides White and Greene. They are both very good players but they need production from the other spots on the floor. Whether it be Lawson, Winton, Phillips, or someone else, they have to step up and do their part. I too thought it was a good no call to end the game. You let the players win the game not the referees. If I remember right the Fulton defender was straight up and White initiated the contact. But the traveling call on Greene I thought was a bad call. I am glad that it didn't decide the game in the end. Great finish to the game and this should benefit both teams as they will hopefully be down in Murfreesboro in a few weeks.
  6. Did anyone else see UT assistant coach Steve Forbes at the game last night? Any clue as to who he might have been watching?
  7. Where will district 4 and region 2 be held? That region tournament is going to be a dandy with Bearden, Maryville, Farragut, Oak Ridge, and Powell.
  8. Sounded like a great game. I can't believe this game got no coverage in the Knoxville paper. It was obviously the biggest game of the night between two of the best teams in the state in AAA, and the only game they wrote about was Loudon vs Catholic. As said earlier, the Bulldogs might be in trouble when the rematch comes. If Jenkins and Simpson weren't able to carry them to victory last night, it will get much tougher when Douglas is in the middle. The rematch will also be at Maryville on that rubber floor that I hate so much. I don't remember Humphrey putting up the numbers that Damron did last night. I need to see this kid play.
  9. On a side note from the Bearden v Farragut game, the CD switch of the pregame music was hilarious. Bigtime props to whoever pulled that off. I was trying to figure out why Bearden was coming out to the Spice Girls until I got word of the prank. One of the funniest high school pranks I have ever heard of or experienced.
  10. Farragut dominated Bearden from the get go tonight. Bearden was cocky and undisciplined. That is unusual for a team coached by Blevins. I think that will change in the next couple of weeks. Farragut shot the ball great: 34 and 12 especially. For Bearden, after Simpson, Jenkins, and Craig they don't have anyone that can score. I thought that Andy Fennell played a good game tonight, especially in the 3rd quarter. He got them to within 6 at one point I think. Bearden has about 6 kids that should be playing. That will be a problem later down the road. At the moment, Farragut is the better TEAM. I believe that Bearden has better talent with their trio of sophs, but Farragut is playing well at the moment.
  11. What are your thoughts on this game? Bearden (32-4) vs Raleigh-Egypt (34-1), in the opening game of the AAA Tournament. Bearden is led by Tony White Jr. and Raleigh-Egypt is led by Maurice Miller. I have not seen the Pharaohs play, but will say this. If they have any inside presence, the Bulldogs might be in trouble. I think Bearden's Big 3 are going to have to carry them and hope that Simpson and Craig play like sophomores instead of freshman. Hopefully the Dawgs will be able to do what we couldn't do in 2002. Just take it one game at a time. Congrats to all the Bearden players on what has been thus far a spectacular season and could get a whole lot better.
  12. You will turn left off the exit, and then go straight across Kingston Pike. There will be a Buddy's BBQ on your right. Go up the hill a little ways and it is on the left. The gym is in the back of the school.
  13. Way to go boys. Good Luck on Monday. The Dawg House is gonna be rocking. Remember what happened last time we played DB in the Sectionals, don't let it happen again. Keep the train rolling all the way to the 'Boro. You'll deserve it.
  14. I just received a call that Bearden won by 12
  15. What does everyone think the AP rankings will look like when they come out on Tuesday?
  16. Does anyone know where Tony White is getting any looks from?
  17. Who is Austin East's JV quarterback #12? I saw him play yesterday against Webb, and he has quite an arm. He throws a beautiful ball. Half of the time, his receivers dropped passes, or could not catch it because he threw it so hard. Will somebody give me his name and grade? I heard he used to play for Fulton, but I don't know if that is true.
  18. Farragut at Bearden in 2001 Bearden is down 21-7 at the half. Bearden scores a TD with about 15 seconds left and ties the game at 35. Bearden ends up winning 49-42 in 2OTs. This was the best football game I have been to ever, at any level.
  19. With Siegel being a school that is 2 years old, what schools did it draw kids from?
  20. Do the writers not know that Bradley beat White Station in the Arby's? That should put them #1. Their loss was to a really good team out of Alabama. And DB is in the rankings on their name and reputation. They are 7-7 with their best win over an average Science Hill team. The first poll of the season is always a little messed up, but this one is pretty bad. We'll see what happens next week.
  21. Who is playing in the Super 16 at Bearden right after Christmas? Besides Bearden, Fulton, and Farragut who else will be there?
  22. Just because you are going to be making 7 figures next year as a 19 year old doesn't make your post valid. Bosse might have some talent, but he weighs 72 pounds. He will get thrown around like a rag doll tomorrow. With Bearden pressing for 32 minutes, 94 feet, and in about 106 degrees I see Farragut wearing down quickly. Bearden just always finds a way to win, and I see it happening again Friday night. Bearden's 9-1 since these guys have been in school. Bottom line, Bearden owns Farragut.
  23. In the last 4 years Bearden leads the series 10-2. I think that speaks for itself. The game will go as it always does: Farragut will lead at halftime by about 5-7 and in the second half, Bearden will go on a huge run and close out the game at the end. You guys can mention all the matchups you want to and one key one you left out is Dodgen vs. Blevins I believe Coach Blevins wins this in a landslide. Once again the Dawgs will prevail.
  24. Hey Chill, did you mean Bearden was missing their best shooter in Paul Dickenson or that Rhea Co. was missing their best shooter?
