  1. Thanks. A great watch and well put together. Keep an eye out for upcoming episodes. You will see one that covers Buford's first loss of the season; in a Holiday tournament to Murfreeboro Riverdale
  2. Ok, all you rules educated, TSSAA fearing, board dwellers.... tell what the rule is!! Was at a girls game last week and a ref made a ruling regarding a team and their head bands. You know the little elastic bands or rolled up pre-wrap they use to hold their hair back. Won't taint the answers by describing the call. Just wondering what the RULES are.
  3. I would consult the TSSAA on this matter. I know of an 8th grader that moved up and played for her high school team. Same school (name) two seperate campuses. No connector, actually several miles apart.
  4. Interesting note cascadebbmom. As recent as two seasons ago there was a young lady referee that worked in games in District 9a. I believe her last name was Womack. Turned on the TV last night and there she was on the big stage in Knoxville calling the UT v FL womens game. The good ones move on!!!

  6. So I guess you would say Evander Holifield was a wimp for letting the fight be called when Tyson bit his ear? I've seen incidents like this on the streets turn into felony charges very quickly.
  7. Congratulation to Adonis Thomas. Tennessee's only 2011 McDonald's All American. Will enjoy watching him play in Chicago in March.
  8. You would think it would have happened the other way around.....you know "veal"...."meat"!!!! But seriously, I can believe it.
  9. That is what I am hearing. Anybody got a final on Eagleville and Boyd?
  10. Might very well be....but my bet is FEW will see it!
  11. What I've been told is: 7AAA District is at Blackman High School. 4AAA Region is at LaVergne High School. 8AAA District.... I don't know

  13. Anybody from down Huntland way care to list any good places to get a good meal in that area!!!
  14. Let me guess: Cascade at HOME; MTCS at HOME; Moore Co. at HOME; Alot of young players that aren't very consistant. Hey is the District Tourney gonna be at Huntland this year?
  15. I'm sure a complaint can be filed. Will it change anything? NO!! At the very least these refs should lose their CHECKS for that game. The only way to get refs out there that are serious about their work and not out there to simply make a little extra money is to hit them in their pocket!! IF YOU DON'T KNOW THE RULES YOU DON'T GET PAID
  16. I'll tell how the coach knows that. That is the coach's "OUT". If the year does not go well.... "One of our top two players was hurt (or never recovered from injury)" If not for injury we would have been sooo much better. See ya next year, Coach.
  17. Oct 21st MTCS - 31 Eagleville- 24 Oct. 25th MTCS - 47 Moore Co.- 33
  18. There are some good thoughts on this thread. Let me add some food for thought. I have been involved in TN high school basketball for a looong time. Yes things have changed a great deal. Are all coaches out there good? NO! Believe it or not..all coaches are not there because they DESIRE to be coaches they just need the supplemental income! (Yes it is true!!) Why are parents so involved and willing to stick there noses into the JOBS of coaches. Simple...they have more invested than the coach. Think about those GOOD OLD DAYS when coaches actually developed players. Now coaches simply DO WHAT THEY DO. They implement their system no matter what talent they have. Why is this. I submit it is because they are not allowed the time to develop players. The TSSAA has limited the coaches contact with players to the point that they can hardly prepare them for a game. Look at schedules now. Teams begin practice on Nov. 1st and most have scrimages on the 6th; playdays on the 13th, and games begin on the 16th. Once the season starts there is no time for developing a player. I have always bought in to the opinion that players a made in the summer and perform in the winter!! (read some of the work of Wooden, Smith, Donovan, Williams, Self, and K) Once the season is over TSSAA requires a dead period and then what 10 or 15 days to practice in the spring!! That is why parents get so into their children. The parents now spend the summer finding ways to improve their student athelete (camps, clinics, trainers, travel teams) while the HS coach does NOTHING thanks to the TSSAA. I believe that is why now there are so many coaches that lack the ability to actually COACH.
  19. I agree a good read and very good presentation of this one aspect of the coaches relationship with parents and fans. For one to take this as the be all end all of discussions of that relationship the writer assumes that ALL coaches are the picture of perfection. I can assure you that in Tennessee this is not the case. As a former coach and parent of players I have seen my share of over the top parents as well as coaches that have lost sight of the responsibility of the profession they chose to enter. I won't waste time listing example after example of such coaches, trust me for each of your "out of control" parent stories I can give you a "lost coach" story. You are right though when it comes down to the administration being responsible for the PROGRAM. Whether it be for a defiant parent or an out of touch coach the admin must stay the course ..that is the development of student athletes. As for the "Coaches Rules" this is only true because the coach has the authority. Just like you stated these athletea will soon report to a Boss. When you have a boss you don't mesh with are you stuck with that boss for 4 years?....NO! You continue to develop youself as you look for a better environment. I personally think that in TN the TSSAA should allow a student athlete one school change in their four years of high school without any penalty. How could a coach disagree...they can be rid of "that" parent and the student athlete can find the environment they feel best for thier success. WIN - WIN??
  20. Don't know..... but another great fall league is the Tennessee Prep Hoops fall league over at CPA. Some of the best players in the Mid-State competed last year.
  21. I could see maybe two players able to put up those numbers. MD remember this is for different classes. Ensworth only has to compete in DII-AA. This is not a top teams but a top team in their CLASSES!!
  22. All those "great" players......and they choose to go play in a division where the only people who care are their parents!!
  23. All of this is interesting reading. I guess the one thing I can't figure is: Clark leaves a strong MTSU program where it looks like she is in a position to be the lead assistant. She would have the most tenure there I believe as assist. Why was she out looking without informing RI and why leave without a position already secured?
  24. Really folks......public school education is free? If you want to get technical ALL public school kids are receiving financial assistance for their education. Public school education is funded by the tax payers. So every time you pay your taxes you are paying the "TUITION" for your small county school students. Report that to the TSSAA!
