  1. Why should a public HS coach recruit? it's not legal... I know what's going on at SC... but they were denied with one who went to Beech rather than attend Gallatin...so maybe the SC recruiting will get stopped if the board denies attendance changes...after all you can get an academic scholarship to go to college... and probably be better off for doing it!
  2. And that my friends just about sums it up!
  3. hendersonville is horrible and it ain't just cause of coaching hank beech ain't much better - and it ain't cause of coaching either talent??? i haven't seen any talent in either school in 4 years at least
  4. unfortunately this is what we have today in high school athletics - kids aren't mentally tough... can take any heat... everything a coach says should be positive... every one lives in a "barney" world... you know, the purple goober that 3 yr olds like?... and when the going gets tough the coach at the other school tells them how good they are and presto - they are wearing a different jersey the next year??? I think it worse in girls athletics than boys
  5. I don't mean to actually do it - I am just saying have some fun with thinking about it!! HAHA!!
  6. Not saying do this - but what would be some good songs in different situations at a game... example- official clearly misses a call he should have made: three blind mice if you have a great sense of humor, what could you come up with - both situation and song that would be funny!!
  7. going into top of 7 Beech scores 7 runs in the bottom of the 6th to take 12-5 lead...
  8. Beech is the only decent team in the entire district this year - down year for 9AAA
  9. you pitch counters are crazy... every body is different - what one guy can do another can't - go count your own pitches
  10. where r they now? TSWA Class AAA All-State Baseball Team 2001-2002 Tennessee Sports Writers Association (TSWA) All-State Baseball teams: Class AAA Pitchers - Clint Arthur, Munford; Jeff Beachum, Cordova; Matt Scott, LaVergne; Charles Lee, Brentwood; Ryan McClellan, Morristown West. Infielders - Matt Spencer, Morristown West; Boodle Clark, Tennessee; Jared Gaston, Cleveland; Bobby Bratton, Columbia; Cody Crowell, Karns. Outfielders - Todd Martin, Cookeville; Brian Lovett, Knoxville Central; Eric Klinkhammer, Dyersburg. Designated hitters - Tyler Westmoreland, Bradley Central; Travis Simmons, Cleveland. Utility players - John Raymond Hehn, Henry County; Brandon Jackson, Hardin County; Stephen Shao, Mt. Juliet. Coach of the Year - Craig Reavis, La Vergne.
  11. Upper East TN Class A baseball is weak - you can look at the state results of Unaka and see that.. they not only get beat, a lot of times they get killed...
  12. yea, spoke to John yesterday - he has put up a blog at http://tnbaseballreport.blogspot.com/ to keep people informed... I know he's frustrated about it... he said he'd hope it would be back online by today sometime...
  13. quite frankly it is not the coaches job to get little Johnny a scholarship - it's little Johnny's place - you see, if he's good enough he'll get one... if not then he won't...
  14. What happened to Coach Aric? Is he leaving for somewhere else or just quitting? Was he forced to resign (fired)?
  15. It tells me what I already know - East TN football with the exception of Alcoa, Fulton, and Maryville isn't all that good - maybe Farragut - but upper east TN is a step behind that group... that's just the way it is...
  16. One other thing - did you notice all the flags on Beech came from the far sideline? every one of them
  17. Coach Holmes was at the game and the HILL was rockin!!!!!
  18. this score here was uncalled for - Beech free safety watched the guy run by him and catch the ball at the goal line... if you were playing in the backyard you'd go after the ball and he just basically cruised over and watched his corner get beat - he could have picked it off had he RAN
  19. Beech has guys playing free safety that shouldn't be there - Mitchell definitely had some talent, not very weel coached however, contrary to whoever said they were - your wrong - I coached HS football for 12 years and their defense is not sound at all... the couldn't stop the run game with nine men in the box...they have a couple of great athletes.... #74, he his a man!! The onside kick by Beech to begin second half and fake punt were very questionable in my opinion... reason being when your up make the other team go as far as they can to make them score... it eats clock... i mean when you are up 22, why onside kick and give them a short field? The first onside kick at the beginning of the game is not a bad idea... it boiled down to this - Mitchell could not stop Beech from running.... right HSK?
  20. I hear that Columbia is very talented. Mitchell is battle tested ( Whitehaven, Melrose (2), and White Station)are premier teams in Memphis, so to play those teams week in and week out, yeah I would say that Mitchell is more than ready !!! Columbia is not what you think- trust me if Columbia played Beech beech wins by 20 Really now? A few on here making my comments cocy and arrogant. I stated facts about the postseason, in which I said that Mitchell is averaging 50 points a game in the playoffs, which is true. (54 + 54 + 42) 3 = 150. This team has speed at every position on the field. I never said that Mitchell is going to crush Beech or anything , simply stated what they have done this far. Now I did say that if a team can't score 40 pts then it may not be useful to show up, and up to this point that is true as well. I'll say this, whoever wins the Beech-Mitchell game will win the championship... that's my story and I'm stickin' to it!
  21. he laid down when he got hit - runs hard when no ones around... haymer loves contact, breaks tackles... perry doesn't Haymer is really good. Runs downhill all the time. However, I saw Perry all year and I totally disagree with your statement. He will juke your socks off though. Jukes so much he juked himself to the sideline for the 4th quarter while Haymer was getting 1st downs without his helmet on. Close this thread now because there is no debate when in comes to Haymer/Perry. perry not in same class as haymer - definitely agree - perry does not break tackles - "he will juke your socks off" he can, i agree, but when he gets hit he lays down... i don't have to see him play all year - i saw him twice... he lays down when he gets hit - doesn't mean he's not good - he just doesn't like contact
  22. he laid down when he got hit - runs hard when no ones around... haymer loves contact, breaks tackles... perry doesn't
  23. $8 bucks baby - that's 32 per family or so.... lotta people ain't gonna pay that much to watch a high school sport - it should be $5 a head period... the bogus playoff system where everyone gets in even with 2-8 records over the years has turned people off to coming to hs playoffs, its happened in basketball too. there are too many options for kids/parents who don't have a child playing... i say we go back to the top 2 teams from each district, eliminate a round, and drop down to 4 classes - then when you get to the playoffs it means something, if your in the semifinals it means something... i drove to chattanooga to watch gallatin beat red bank in 78 (could have been 77) to win the state title - place was packed... it started changing in the 90's when 4 teams from each "region" got in...
  24. No I'm not a coach. I have seen Mitchell play several of games, but I didn't know anything about Beech ? I want to see how Mitchell stacks up against Beech formations and vice versa. formations don't matter - what matters is the bucs will stuff it down your throat if you don't stop them and if you do they will throw it
  25. The White Station game was the last game of the season and it was meaningless. Why risk getting key players hurt when the playoff format was already set ? You better do some homework first and worry about your team making it to The State !!! The losses that Mitchell had were to 6a White Station and Whitehaven and Melrose, which all are powerhouse teams !!! That's bogus! At least we got a good answer to the question - the other team made adjustments, Mitchell didn't... well what happens if its raining on Friday and you can't pass very well? Beech will run it all night long - and if you bring 8 or 9 in the box they have a couple of guys who can go get it with anybody... it should be a great game... but u better be able to make adjustments in this round or u could find urself sitting at home next week
