  1. I dont know where I read my information but it was obviously not correct. Maybe my information meant 2A for all other sports. Hogan any chance you would want to coach at Summit?
  2. I am sure Dyson is a great person. I know he obviously had talent playing the game. However, being a great player and being a great coach are two completely different things. Dyson will learn from his mistakes. He will get better with time. The bad thing is that you will not notice because Summitt will be opening and the talent will be divided. My guess is that Indy will move down to 5A and stay in the same district. I think it was stated that Summitt will be in 2A. That could very well be a goldmine waiting to explode. If Summitt can get a good coach, and I believe they will, then look for them to be very competitive and for Indy to go straight down hill. The new principal looks like he is a family guy wanting to start a community school. Kirby has already been named AD and Head Baseball coach. That is a good hire and I am sure he will have a say in the Head Football Coach. Maybe he can lure Rector back to Williamson county.
  3. I think its really simple here. Smitty started program. Principal at the time really like Eubanks and brought him over. Smitty saw writing on wall and left on his own will. New principal comes in. New guy has man-crush on Dyson because he was 1yd short....I mean used to be a Titan until he was 1yd short. Eubanks now sees writing on wall and he leaves. Dyson and principal both get what they want. Its win win except for the Indy kids. They lose because of bad politics. You are right about both of those two. I think Webb probably saw that Dyson was going to have too much power and didnt want to be anybody's pawn and scapegoat so he declined. Smitty is doing just fine at Moore Co and Webb is doing just fine at BGA so again its the kids at Indy that lose. Indy has really taken a step back on this one. Bad hire by the AD. Shame on Dyson for hiring himself. In this case when an AD is applying for the open position a committee of players, former players, parents, school staff should have had a voice. To my knowledge this did not happen. Just my opinion. Its only going to get worse with the opening of Summitt.
  4. Coach A won a gold ball at Hillsboro with the wing-t.
  5. There are lots of ways to go to schools that one is not zoned for legally. Take a class that one school offers that the zoned school does not. Apply and recieve a special transfer for a number of reasons. Also, you can pay out of county tuition to go to other schools in a different county than the one where you reside.
  6. Take the advice of shadow. Run---All is well. Both schools have potential but I cant help but wonder what if there was only one of them. I pull for them both too. The bears more but there are several kids that I know going to both schools. Overton looks strong. QB play is the weakness along with depth. With Williamson County being down this year they could go far. How are things on campus?
  7. I could see wins against the first three. Hillsboro could be tough. Its really hard to tell with them. Overton seems to be the team to beat in Metro along with a couple of teams you have already played.
  8. Who does CR have left and who do the Ravens feel like they can beat?
  9. I too was at the game the other night. I couldnt help but wonder how much better the east school would be if all were still on the same team. CR has at least 100 players and the east school about fifty I am guessing. The east hc does a great job with what he has to work with. CR opening has really hurt the east school. I have a feeling a lot of CR players are probably zoned to the east school but choose to drive that extra mile to go to a new school that was "supposed" to be better. I wonder how many of those kids are wishing they had went to their zoned school? I do agree with Craig though on some level. The kids are all about me, me, me. But as a coach you have to find a way to get the me's to work as a we. There is also a big difference between preaching and teaching. You can preach all day long and the kids not learn a thing. If you teach all day long the kids are typically at least going to learn something. If they learn one thing a day then by their senior year they will have learned a great deal. Just my opinion.
  10. I am sure your post was meant with good intentions but Im afraid you are leaving yourself open to a ton of negative comments.
  11. Better hope they dont have any injuries over the bye week or you could be right.
  12. Wow....you have no clue. Sounds like you are a bitter player not getting playing time or bitter parent whose son is not getting playing time. What do you think all coaches do? Coaches find what works and then they run the heck out of it until someone finds a way to stop it. Last year Oakland did it with Mayberry, this year Blackman is doing it with Mathers (he already has over 1000 yards), and all across the state the same plays are called with the same players. As far as Coach A's decision it was his to make and he made it. Was it the right choice, in my opinion yes. Could others agrue differently, sure. If the kid had made any of the kicks and Riverdale won no one would be talking about it.
  13. If Overton plays like they are capable of then this one will not be close. If the bobcats do not show up to play and put the felines away then it may be closer than it should. Either way I see Overton winning the only question is by how much. Centennial will probably come in fired up so the bobcats better be ready for a wired team.
  14. I dont think anyone would have a big problem with Dyson if it had been handled professionally from the beginning. Everyone knew the job was Dyson's even before Eubanks left. Indy held interviews and I guess the AD couldnt find anyone better than himself. OH wait......how about Webb? How about Smitty? Glademom Smitty is doing just fine down in Moore County. Why on earth would he want to come back to Indy and rebuild what he already built once.
  15. Your Oakland boys and Smyrna will battle for #1 and #2. Sad thing is someone from this region will be well deserving of a playoff spot and not get in while someone will be undeserving from another region and will get in. The playoff system stinks.
  16. To all of your people that you talked to that felt the same way and yourself.......if the kid made the field, any of them, would they and you think the same way? I think Coach A was playing to win. He had confidence that his kicker could get the job done. Plain and simple. People always look to the coach but I didnt see a coach botch a snap or miss a field goal. Both teams played great. Both have things to work on. I agree with you on that.
  17. For all the posters who said that Indy had the best coach and most famous coach in TN.........you still want to brag about that? This is one that Indy should have won and if your team and coach were so great then what the heck happened? I would love to know names of who all applied for the Indy job that were either turned down or turned down the job themselves knowing that it would be Dyson's before long. I am sure that Dyson is a great person but the way that this hiring went down was too shady for me and now the kids and team are paying for it.
  18. Great game by both teams. Probably going to go down as one of the best of the year. OaklandPatriots (poster not team) it sounds like you are just trying to start stuff for Riverdale. Coach A said before the game that they needed to get to about the 25 yard line to be confident in the kicker. Each kick was inside the 25. It was not that Coach A didnt have confidence in his offense. It in my opinion was that he did have confidence in his kicker. And it wasnt all the kicker's fault. There were two bad snaps. You kick on third down in case something happens you still have one down to go. Plain and simple. No need to start stuff after such a great game. Both teams should be proud of the heart and effort displayed. This is what high school football is all about.
  19. Indy should win this one. For all the Indy fans saying how great Dyson is this is his chance to prove that he can lead his team to a win against the schools Indy should be able to beat. If Centennial wins, which I think they will, then it is quite possible that Indy finishes last in the district this season.
  20. I understand both you and old dad's complaint and Im sure its a bitter sweet pill. Bitter in that you still want to be in the top ten, sweet in that at least you have a lot of tradition of being very good. My complaint with dad is that last year Riverdale made it to the semis and he wasnt happy because they didnt get a gold ball. He constantly shows that he does not like Coach A's coaching abilities and knocks him for being a former metro coach. Then he gets on other threads and knocks other metro schools. What old dad doesnt realize is that Rutherford County has seen and is still seeing rapid growth. This is evident in the fact that Rutherford County went from Oakland, Riverdale, Smyrna, and La Vergne to those plus Eagleville, Siegel, and Blackman with Stewart's Creek on the way. The talent is thinning out and Riverdale lost a great coach in Rankin who saw the writing on the wall. Old dad criticizes Coach A and puts most of the blame on him. In my opinion that is not fair and all of the negative comments towards coach A and other schools isnt necessary. He has his right to his opinion but a true fan, such as warhawks, supports the team through good times and rough times. I am sure dad is a good person and all I just feel his negative comments can do nothing but hurt his teams morale. The kids read this stuff and when a kid hears a parent or supporter doubt the coach the kids may do the same. Its cancerous. No need to apologize for butting in, thats what these boards are for. Good luck to both Riverdale and Oak Ridge.
  21. Thank you sir. My point is that a lot of teams would have loved to have made the playoffs last year. A lot of teams would have loved to have made it to the semifinals last year. Old dad should be proud of his team and coaches for their accomplishments, not knock them because they didnt win a gold or silver ball or because they are not in some top ten poll that means absolutely nothing.
  22. I agree. Who cares where you are ranked right now as long as you are near the top at the end. I agree Donkey. Old dad only remembers the past as long as Rankin was there. Old dad --- how did Riverdale do before Rankin????? I have asked you this multiple times and you have yet to answer the question. I wonder why. Maybe a lot of Riverdale's success had to do with Rankin being a great coach and maybe it had to do with the fact that at the time Murfreesboro only had two schools. Old Dad why dont you just go support Oakland or something since you are turning into a cancer for Riverdale. Most of Oaklands staff has Riverdale connections.
  23. Are you really saying that beating Cookeville is something? Come on man.
  24. Hillsboro gets a big win over WC. Congrats to the burros. Whats up with WC? I thought they were supposed to be really good this year with all that talent. Did Hillsboro just play a really good game or what?
