  1. coming from nashville you will take i24 east towards chattanooga. Get off at the old hickory blvd exit, also starwood. off exit take a left towards AHS. The school is about a mile down on the left approximately 2 miles from AHS.
  2. Good Point McNine. I can tell you that it looks like Antioch MS and Marshall will feed into Caneridge and Apollo and JFK will feed into Antioch HS. I know its weird that AMS will not feed into AHS but that Metro for you. I can also tell you that Antioch MS has just as many athletes as JFK and that Apollo typically sends AHS a couple of good athletes every year. The good thing about JFK is that the "athletes are a year ahead the athletes from Antioch MS and Apollo. Coach A uses the same terminology, the same schemes, the same sets, etc as AHS. Thats probably why it appears as though the athletes are coming from JFK.
  3. It probably means that Caneridge would be a lot better than coaching at Hillwood. Sure Hillwood is a head coaching job, but its a horrible situation. Most of your good athletes from the area go to private schools.
  4. I think its pretty much agreed on that those teams are great teams. However to say that east tn is dominate is ridiculous. I think that the only thing that you might say is that Maryville, Fulton, and Alcoa had dominate individual teams this year. But I wouldnt even say that much. Maryville was undefeated of course but they had close games. The other two had losses. Plus in order for you to say that east tn is dominant that would mean that all of the other teams from east tn were dominate and that simply put is RIDICULOUS. Their are dominate teams all across the state but no particular region is any more dominate than the others. How long has it been since an east tn team won the 5A crown?
  5. McNine---I was wondering how long it would take before I saw you on this one. You have a lot of the same feeling that I have. This should have been done years ago and it probably should have been done in the Crossings which still has tons of unused land. Like you said the land that the school will be on was the cheapest. I like a couple of names that you threw out there. I dont know what Anderson will do. Really I dont. Overton is home to both him and Trent but who knows. I know that Caneridge would be his first opportunity to build a program, which he hasnt done. I also know for a fact that Trent wont be ready to take that step until the elder Anderson retires. Coaching against his old man would probably take too much out of him. I also like Eric Felts. He is a great guy, a good coach who is young and excited, and he's an Antioch guy. I would also say that there could be a chance of some assistants around the area either at OHS or AHS along with Baskin that may be interested.
  6. I think that the better question is who will apply for the job? I know the principal is coming from Glencliff so will Abner apply? Will Baskin apply to get out of Hillwood? Will some of the quality assistants from metro try to take a stab at being head coach? Maybe even some middle school coaches might be interested or coaches from another area. I know that Antioch Middle's coach applied for Antioch High. How will the new school affect AHS?
  7. didnt know that they had a new surface. and if you're right about the forecast then i would go with ravenwood. good luck to both teams.
  8. Obviously you didnt realize that i was giving an example. I am smart enough to realize the distance between maryville and middle tn. I am also smart enough to know that they do not pick their schedule, except for non region games of course. Did they put in their third teamers against Alcoa and Brainard? I bet not. And you say that against alcoa they were without some of their best players. Do you not think that all teams have games when some players are hurt, missing, etc? Its part of the game. I will give maryville credit for winning against alcoa without those players but thats besides my point. Point is that if maryville was in a traditionally tough region they probably wouldnt have been as successful as they have been. Maryville is a very good team. Are they the best in the state? Who knows? In my opinion no. Buts its an opinion. I would say that maryville is a top five team but not the best. And neither is Hillsboro which would not be in my top five.
  9. yeah i know that the field is turf, I graduated from MTSU. I just know that both teams are very evenly matched and a big factor in this game will be if the raptors offense can be successful in wet weather or even damp conditions on the surface. being turf is almost worse because the turf will be like a slip n slide.
  10. So you're telling me that Maryville could turn the ball over five times and beat Brainard who they only won by 4 and Alcoa who they only won by 3? Could they turn the ball over 5 times and beat east tn's ooltewah or McCallie? How about Smyrna or Ravenwood? I dont think they could turn the ball over five times and beat David Lipscomb or Goodpasture much less the teams I mentioned or BA. And would also bet that if they turn the ball over five times this Saturday Hillsboro will be sending them on a long bus ride home without any gold.
  11. I'm going to go with Ravenwood if its dry and Smyrna if its wet. Im sure some of you will laugh at this but others who have a clue will know its logical.
  12. First of all whoever said that Maryville makes everyone look like middle school teams need to remember two games---M 17 Alcoa 14 and M 30 Brainard 26. So by your logic Maryville must also look like a middle school team that is just barely better than these two schools. Second---this whole argument doesnt mean anything at all. Its all speculation and opinions. My opinion is that I dont care. Whichever team wins will be the best team that night in that game. Are they better than the Ravenwood/ Smyrna game. Who knows? Are they better than BA? I would say that if any of these school played each other ten times the results would be 50-50. Sure Maryville is good but they havent exactly played the hardest of schedules either. Put them in region 6 5A and see how many of your gold balls they have. Or put them in Rutherford Co. and see how many they have.
  13. first of all thanks for correcting me. It always kills me to know that there are so many english majors on here. second, no I dont follow a traditional power. In fact my team actually broke tradition this year and made it to the second round. It is my hope that we do become a perennial power but we're not quite there yet. If a good team wins no matter where they play then why the argument. Someone said it earlier this is stupid. Its a system. It works. Its TSSAA not bush league. Get used to it.
  14. For the schmoes who make it once in a blue moon it should be a goal to become a perenial power and therefore your point is mute. For any team to have a goal to make it once in a blue moon is ridiculous. Give the perenial powers credit for being just that. For the schmoes out there why should they be given home field advantage when they havent done anything except for one year? Maybe they had an easy way to Murfreesboro by playing sub par teams.
  15. yeah and then you have the Pittsburgh Steelers situation. Did you call heads or tails?
  16. Im a fan of neither team, just football. Overall it was a good offensive game. If you like big plays with not much in between then this was your game. Both run games were horrible. The lines werent creating any holes at all. Smyrna did a pretty good job keeping Gray clean though. He only had to scramble about once a quarter. He also had a couple of good sneaks to get first downs. Wilks made some huge catches(hope I spelled his name right). Definately the best athlete on Smyrna's team. He also made a couple of touchdown saving tackles on defense. For Ooltewah their passing game was decent too. The had one or two deep passes over the middle where there was obviously a breakdown in coverage. They also ran a middle screen really well. They hit Smyrna with it two or three times and it was always for big yardage. Smyrna couldnt stop it all night long. Ooltewah's OC did a good job taking advantage of Smyna's heavy blitz packages. Some other tidbits that I noticed: Ooltewah was not in any hurry to get the play off. The QB went to the sidelines to get the play each time. They didnt have any kind of hand signals. Then the QB would trot onto the field taking his time. Ooltewah got flaged for delay of game at least six times I bet. Also, Ooltewah's kickoff return guys didnt look too confident fielding the catch. They bobbled it several times. I also noticed after Smyna's first score two of Ooltewah's players had to be seperated by the coaching staff. Dont know what that was all about. It just seemed like Smyrna was the more disciplined team tonight. Well thats what I have. Congrats to both teams and to Smyrna for proving everybody wrong.
  17. Actually it makes perfect sense and its not bush league at all. It has been set up on a rotation system. Its fair and it works. What would happen if you had two 13-0 teams playing? For instance in 4A both Maryville and Morristown West were 13-0. Who would have had to travel in your bush league? I would guess Morristown West since Maryville has had the longest win streak. Or maybe it could be at a neutral site so both teams had to travel. Come on its a system like it or not. It works.
  18. Wow, I didnt realize Pigue had that much success! Big Country you know a lot about Metro football. I know its incredibly early and probably too early but what do you see happening next season in metro? Any possible coaching changes, who are some of the best assistants, and what teams do you look for to improve or stay the same? Who are some of the young and up and coming coaches who may make a bid for Caneridge when it opens in 2008?
  19. Are you sure he has more wins than any football coach in metro? Anderson has to be up there. I know he has more wins than any other active coach.
  20. Great Post!!! I think the state of metro's football coaches is as good as it could be. We'll start with Hillsboro and Blade. Dont know much about the guy but the burros have not lost a step. I think they get beat this week but thats a different thread. Brunetti has also taken PC and ran with it not losing a beat. Both should be proud of the job that they have done. Richard Campbell is a great coach and has a great staff. Look for them to be strong again next year. I'm still not sold on Law but he has done well so far, same with Jason Smith. I think that next year will be the deciding factor for me. Bobby Baskins is a very good offensive coach, he is just in a bad situation. Good Luck Bobby. I am also still not sold on Broom or Thompson. Take away their athletes and are they really any good? Who knows but their players make them look good at what they do and they win ball games. Finally, Terry Anderson and Mike Woodward. Two coaches that I have the utmost respect for. I know Anderson very well and I can honestly say that the man has taught me everything I know about the game. I stive everyday to be the kind of coach that he is. I was honored and fortunate enough to get to know Mike Woodward this season. He has a lot of knowledge and his work ethic is great. His staff that he has put together is as solid as any around the midstate. I have also learned a lot from him and his staff. He has made great strides this year in getting that program where it needs to be. Look out for the bears next year. All in all I think metro should be proud of the way their football teams are being coached and the results started to show that this year. I cant wait to next season.
  21. McNine---We had another solid year. We are like my screen name, a work in progress. This year we made it to the championship game for the first time ever. We were undefeated going in but lost the championship to Moore. They havent lost in over five years now. So our goal for next year is to win it all. I was proud of our kids and they showed a lot of character and pride in the way that they played. The new campus was tought for the football team. I had to get my CDL so that we could travel back and forth everyday for practice. The new doesn't have a field yet. But we made it work. Thanks for asking and I hope all is well. I havent seen you on here for awhile until this thread came up. Back to the thread, I think it is ironic that this is about the character of a young man and yet some of the posters aren't showing character themselves. Nununu is a great person who truly cares for the kids. I promise you he is not in it for the money or fame. We dont get paid nearly enough for the job that we do. For someone to attack him on here is ridiculous. Kids are going to be kids. They will make mistakes. Adults make mistakes too. We all just have to learn from them and live with whatever consequences come from them. If Buc did some of the things mentioned on here, which I did not see, then hopefully he will learn from his mistakes. He is a good kid and a heck of a DE. Once again good luck to Ravenwood tomorrow.
  22. I would say that you all may get all you want out of Smyrna this go around. I think I would have held that comment until after this week.
  23. I am not doubting this at all. I saw the game, I taped the game, I saw the tape. I wasnt looking at this one play other than to see the play itself. When I tape the games my eyes are on the play itself, not the after-play antics/huddle, etc.

  25. Some of what you said doesn't even make sense. I didnt see Buc hit an opposing player when he was down trying to take a knee. Maybe it happened, I dont know. And no that would not be acceptable at all. And who have you seen play over several years. What older boys played at Oak Ridge? And what have you never seen of what warriors? Are you awake yet, go get a cup of coffee and explain some of this mess you're talking about.
