  1. I'm willing to bet I'm the only one troubled by this, but I'll state my case anyway. The Chatt. paper reported last week, CSAS "topples" Temple. This week it's similar: "Grace Topples Temple." In order for someone to be toppled, don't they have to be on top? As I see it, Temple has not been in that position this year. Maybe the reporter is just referring to their being first in the state last year. Or maybe I'm too obsessed with semantics. It just bugs me a little that the media is so enamored with anything Temple. Anyone?
  2. TSSAA should have a rule that a player's parent cannot keep the offical book or clock. How hard is that? Absolutely. I totally agree. I would be so angry if this were my team who got "beaten" in such a fashion. Even if parents are trying to be fair, there is too much of a conflict of interest for them to be completely objective.
  3. I think he meant to say "no extra incentive." That would make sense since the next statement mentioned money.
  4. Grace 58 Ooltewah 51 Lots of turnovers, some odd calls, but Grace made a nice comeback.
  5. I am just gonna guess that there are some grammar teachers in those public schools who would be surprised to see that some people think they don't exist. Ouch! Anything else to say about the ball game?
  6. We must be desperate for something to talk about. . . .
  7. It's awfully quiet tonight. Do we have a score?
  8. So, how did it go? Any surprises?
  9. Temple--77 SBA--49 Grace--79 Copper Basin--42 ----according to the paper.
  10. I'm assuming you mean they peaked. I don't know, maybe they did a little peeking, too. : /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />
  11. Getting a little shrill, aren't we? Take a deep breath. I suspect your blood pressure is up a bit.
  12. These three seniors (Foster, Hughes, and Turner) bring a lot of knowledge and maturity to the team. Their unselfishness is valuable. (This is not to take away anything from the rest of the team, but only to comment on the names that came up.)
  13. Grace has 220 high school students. Since this is a sports forum, we might want to restrict our comments to that subject, but since it has come up: Grace students can compete academically with anyone in the city--CSAS included.
  14. Well, that's no fun. What's the problem? Still healing?
  15. I'm not making any big claims, I just think if you say someone dominated for the last 6 or 7 years, you ought to be accurate. We could also discuss whether or not both teams were truly "at their pinnacle." That seems to imply it's all downhill from here. I don't think anyone wants to believe that's true.
  16. Have another look at the 2005-2006 season--just for the record.
  17. Final: Grace 75 Silverdale 72 in overtime
  18. I believe East Ridge travels to East Brainerd Friday night. It's a mistake to frame this game as a battle between two individuals. The team that plays together best will win. I'm guessing that's Grace.
  19. Congratulations. You have made the whole region proud.
  20. I guess whether or not it was "much of a game" depends partly on where you were sitting. The actual score was 65-36. The points were pretty well spread around. I haven't seen the paper to know for sure, nor was I keeping score myself, but it did seem that Grace had a lot of people doing well.
  21. It was never winnable for DBCS. # 10 is Hughes.
  22. This is supposed to "help [us] out"? Let's be real.
  23. Grace Golden Eagles: Go to the school web site and follow the Athletic Schedules link. You have to pick the sport and the schedule comes up.
