  1. It is nothing to do with politics. It is all stats and how each player did against different teams. Like in the DII, the west and east teams are really unable to see how each other play, so they cannot make a real decision on who should really be all-state. I don't know about DI, but if you lead everyone in goals that should be an automatic all-state bid unless it was all against sub-par opponents.
  2. I am so happy that Ravenwood was able to pull off the state championship this year because, as someone has said earlier, it is the perfect example of grassroots to greatness at its best. I hope with all of my heart that Cookeville will be able to do this one day. I agree with Redtwin that most of the DII teams should move up that put up a good showing this year. Franklin, Cookeville, Brentwood, and possibly the two Knox teams should move up. I know for a fact that Cookeville will be having a huge rebuilding year this year, but as someone else said "the only way to get better is by playing the best teams" This will also lure the better athletes of the school to the team. I can only speak from what goes on at Cookeville because I do not really know the other teams, but lax is still considered a 2nd rate sport by most of the coaches, only excluding soccer that I know of. All of the Cookeville lax football players are ragged so hard by the coaches for playing lax that they basically ostercize them for it. Lax has to find more ways of getting more publicity, but that is especially hard in rural areas like Cookeville where football truly is king. So to sum up my rambling, Cookeville, Franklin especially, and Brentwood should all be in DI next year. It will be tough for a couple of years, but that will be worth it for them because they will have to fight to get to the top instead of just destroying the weaker teams of DII.
  3. Snider doesn't coach the middle school team completely anymore. He has subsidized it to some of our college coaches, but basically everything still goes through him. He did coach every other year but last year. I am not trying to take away anything from what Hirsch has done this year; I just believe what Snider has done this year is more deserving of coach of the year. It is the same case as with what happened with the Ravenwood coach last year in D1. He just showed that his team can finally compete in the division and push for a state championship.
  4. Yes, I realize that I am posting this with so much bias, but there is no way you can vote against Kurt Snider(cookeville). Yes, Franklin repeated as state championships, but they also had something to the effect of 21 seniors on the team. Cookeville only had 9 seniors. We only have something like 25 players on our team, of which only about 17 really play. If you compare the teams, Kurt has done so much more with what he had. (I am not saying that our team was terrible by any means. I would not trade this season for anything.) Both Franklin and Cookeville both had great senior leadership, but Cookeville definitely had to overcome much more to get to where we are now in lacrosse. We were a team that didn't even make it to the wild card last year, and are the same team as last year. Franklin won the state championship with the same team, so there really wasn't anything new that they could have implemented to not get the same result as last year. I just don't know how you can give it to anyone else but Kurt this year.
  5. Congratulations to Franklin on an amazing season beating every team in D2 with no doubts as to whether the game should go the other way. I wish all of the players the best after the season and with their endeavors later in life.
  6. It is absolutely propostorous that the D2 championship is at 10 in the morning on Sunday. This especially terrible for the team that has to play at 8. Our game will not start till at least 830-45 because we have to warm up and wait for the other game to end. That means it will not finish till 1030ish. Then neither team will be home/hotel till at least 11-11:20. Then we will not fall asleep till at least 1230-1, only to wake up at 7 extremely exhausted to play another game. I do not mean only Cookeville when I say we, Brentwood will have the same problems. Cookeville has to miss all of our graduation celebrations to be able to go to this, and two teams are going to miss Baccalaureate services. That is just a crappy reason for such a freaking early game. The championship game is just going to be a competition of which team wakes up first.
  7. You want ultimate fighters? This doesn't seem like a team that I would ever want to play for or against if you are wanting them. Maybe you mean the heart or toughness of an ultimate fighter.
  8. Wow!!! I definitely did not see the game that way, but congrats to Webb on the win. It isn't that easy to beat Franklin unless you are Ravenwood or any other of those top tier D I teams.
  9. Both of the Webbs have good faceoff guys, but I was refering to Knox's face off-scoop duo. They just killed us on most of the faceoffs, and congrats on the win vs. West
  10. Cookeville-13 Webb Bellbuckle-6 or 7 We were down by 1 going into the 4th quarter, and came back with 9 unanswered goals stemming from a 3rd quarter goal.
  11. You cannot call someone underrated when they are an allstate player or someone in the top 5 in state for pts. and a shoe-in for allstate this year. Webb's face off guy is pretty good. I haven't seen anyone better at faceoffs except for the guy from the Florida team that we played. Franklin's dpole (62 I think) is freaking good too. Patterson from West Knox should also get some credit his way just for the shere number of goals.
  12. Cookeville's defense is just going to be too good to beat in this one. They have had some mistakes, but every single person on that team just wants to beat Blackman more than any other team in the state. They may not have been at the top of their game against Gallatin, but they will come back much better and will in a 3-2 thriller. There will also be a huge crowd on hand from what I hear just to rag the old goalie, so there may be some extracurricular activity on the sidelines that may require the local S.R.O. officer. Remember that there was a fan that was arrested last time they played. I am looking forward to a repeat of this. GO COOKEVILLE!!!
  13. I will hopefully be playing for UT next year.

    Next Year?

In D2, Cookeville will be very strong. We had no seniors at all, and we will have upwards of 18 seniors. We will all have been playing togeather for 3 years. We will have to see how it will turn out next year.
  15. I know that this is a bit biased, but Kurt Snider of Cookeville deserves at least an honorable mention if anything. He took a team that was 1-11 last year to a team that actually had a winning record. We even beat Franklin, who is apparently favored to win state in D2. The team did not have a single senior. The 1 senior that was on the team quit mid season. We lost to PJP last year. That is how bad it was, and this year we were actually a contender for the playoffs. A botched game against West Knox in double OT kept us out. A team with a 2-8 record made it before us. The man did a great job. The Franklin coach had a playoff team from last year. Kurt had the 2nd worst team from last year. Just keep that in mind.
  16. There are 3 former Centenial players that coach at Cookeville. Is your brother Jamie (Frank), Matt, or Alex
  17. We beat Franklin who beat both Cordova and Brentwood, and our team isn't even in the playoffs.
  18. Tenn Tech Univ. in Cookeville will have a club team next year.
  19. The socks were just a team bonding thing. I don't think that there was a better game all season except maybe our game with Franklin, but I was not there for that game, so I can't say anything about it. Cookeville will be back next year with 18+ seniors. Swanson played a great game. He got us bad early in the game, but didn't really score in the 2nd half that I can remember. Good job West Knox. You are my pick at winning it all in D2.
  20. Cookeville is 5-3 at the moment at TSAA play. I am not counting a game that was called off against Centennial because of faulty lights or the games in Florida. Cookeville is competing with Centennial for the Wild Card spot, but can also make the playoffs with a win over West Knox.
