there are fastpitch games (?) every year in knox county that last only 3 innings and one team gets hammered 30+ - 0. the teams meet only because they are in the same district. let the mercy rules apply in all sports, they are not enjoyable for anyone to watch and the games don't really help anyone. many believe they actually hurt the winning team when they face a better team in their next game.

Yesterdays Knox News Sentinel had All-State Sophomore Baseball Team listed. Nothing today. Fear not, all the awards should be announced by Spring.

A thread that began with twsa all-state selections becomes a ###### match between soddy and gps.................................. How do the writers make picks for all-state? Winner gets ____ players? Runner up gets___ players? Other state teams get ___ players?

this is obviously last years all-state team. some of these teams didn't make it to state this year and some of the girls graduated in 06. and the first line says 2006!

how are the choices made for all-state selections? do they choose by position, by team or overall performance offense and defense? div 2, a, aa, aaa?

We see a lot of discussion about pitchers. What about the other positions? Who are the best in W TN, Mid TN, E TN, NE TN, Chat? 1b 2b ss 3b c lf cf rf

Is the entire tournament and bracket available somewhere?

Good tournament, too bad the rain shortened it again. Between the two parks, some of the best facilities in the state for a tournament. Clean, plenty of parking.

Doesn't look like parks dept is doing much to help with this tourney. We played in first game yesterday, field prep is poor at CR. No maintenance between games. Fields need to be sprayed down to reduce dust. Infield lines non-existent after game 1. Which wouldn't matter, the umps are awful. One window open at concession stand. Overall, parks are nice, teams look like they are matched up well.

That request wouldn't fly at many schools. Certainly won't at the next level. Doesn't Goodpasture have another pitcher?

Can someone explain this to me? A coach has sent info to 4 schools for the seniors on the softball team. One is D1 school (100 miles away), one is D2 (40 miles away), one is private school (30 miles away), the other is Comm Coll (40 miles away). Why commit to the CC in January?

At every game, umpires make "bad calls". Do both teams ever agree with the strike zone being called? If you get the call, you don't think it was bad, if you don't get the call, you think it was bad. Deal with it, it's part of the game whether it's 8u, 10u, hs, college, pro, etc. Unfortunaely, TSSAA only requires 2 per game, so they are not able to see evrything. If more were provided, it would cost us all more money, giving us something else to complain about. Be happy that you kid is playing and encourage them deal with adversity.

what do the fences measure? i've seen 190-210, 4' high and 5' high not seen any go out at 210, seen some close, but none out

seems like the posts are consistent that summer ball gives you better exposure to college coaches, can't argue with that but why uproot your family to simply switch high schools if high school ball isn't important
