  1. Farragut has 4 championships since '03 ('03, '04, '07, '09) Bearden has 3 since '01.. ('01, '02, '06) Both, are usually ranked nationally according to different spring rankings. The fact that both are in the same district, so close to eachother, and happen to be bitter rivals, just adds to it. Both have a "national championship"... I think they are according to espnrise? I think Bearden's was '02? and Farragut's was '04? If you want to include private schools into the discussion, CAK is certainly the best in the area out of them (private schools). For what it's worth, I'm not sure on the date so someone can chime in on that, but before maybe '05? only 1 team advanced from the region tournament? Meaning, if Farragut and Bearden played in the region tournament championship, only 1 would advance. Since they changed it to both teams in the championship advance, Farragut and Bearden have played in the state championship game. Farragut won 5-4, in one of the most exciting, intense, nerve racking games I have ever seen. It was nice this season the teams played multiple times, as they usually do every year. I can't exactly remember the scores, but I believe this is how it went down. Bearden won the regular season game, Farragut won the district tournament game, Bearden won the Region tournament game, and Farragut won the state championship game 5-4. So, they tied the series that year 2-2. So, just comparing championships doesn't really make another better than the other, because they do play multiple times, it usually just comes down to who wins when it counts. Granted that is what makes a team good. Personally, I think Farragut is better, but that's because I went there. From a totally non biased approach, I just don't see either one being better than the other honestly. From what I have noticed, people seem to praise the talent for Farragut's success, where people seem praise the coach for Bearden's success.

  3. You like my arrogance , I can totally be the stereotype when I want.
  4. Canes, I'm all for parity in sports. I'm glad someone else in the district is stepping up. It gets boring, even being a Farragut fan, only hearing about Bearden and Farragut.. or only having to worry about Bearden etc.. I've always wanted the district/region to get better. Over the last few years teams have stepped up. West beat Farragut in Regions a few years ago. Did it stink that Farragut lost sure? But I was glad that it was to someone that hasn't really done it before. It's nice to see weaker teams step up and perform. I mean, heck, in Boise, football season is even boring. The WAC is turrable. Luckily we are changing, but the only worthy teams are leaving. With the Butler thing... People view basketball entirely different than football. Basketball has a tournament, so most people, in my opinion, when they see a midmajor doing well in the tournament, it's because they are good, and earned where they are. Where as football, is all subjective, and based on polls and voting and opinions. It's a 13 game season, with no tournament at the end. You still have to earn it, but the opinions on earning it in football, are different than in basketball. Basketball you can do well in the regular season, then get on a run at the end and be in the final four. Sure it takes talent, skill, and the players capable of doing it, but it's just totally different than football. Lose 1 game and you're done, unless you are LSU or just in the SEC in general, or Ohio State. Boise loses 1 game, in overtime, and we're in the Las Vegas bowl, when 2 weeks earlier there was BCS talk. People don't think we are worthy, but at the same time, won't really let us prove anything.. Basketball, you are guaranteed a chance to "prove" it. Football, not so much. I, personally, have just always grown up with everyone dogging Farragut. Warranted or not, it gets old. Sure they give us "props" for winning, but trash us at the same time. I'm not saying everyone does it, but if you've read the boards long enough, you should know it's true. They bash us for being "classless" when celebrating a win.. or as you say "talking the talk"... But I have seen it encouraged, several times, on here, and in person, when someone beats Farragut. Generally, by the same people that get mad when/if Farragut does it. Obviously, as a Farragut person I might just pay more attention to it than others... just because of my Farragut glasses. Same with Boise. If i read/hear someone giving us a compliment, Farragut or Boise, all I can see is the bad in what they are saying. I'm sure that's mostly my fault, but I am also aware that it's there, where as others see nothing wrong with it. It's all just opinion sure. Also, with what others on here have said, without being there. I just can't see the players doing it, for any sport really, not just at Maryville, but in general. I haven't seen too many unsporting athletes at the high school level since I've been around them. Some have their moments, but as whole they are generally well behaved. Congrats to Maryville and maybe there will be a rematch in the tournament.
  5. How so? By pointing out how ridiculous you people are? I'm not freaking out because Farragut lost to Maryville. All I did was point out, how people think it's ok to do things, unless Farragut does it. Your comment on Maryville should be able to talk the talk since they walked the walk, proved it. You never see anyone say it's ok for Farragut rub a win in the other teams face. Or brag all about it and act like they want to riot. Why? Because everyone thinks Farragut is a bunch of spoiled rich classless snobs. Like I said, the fact that everyone hates when Farragut does something, means they've done something right. It's ok to be jealous. Most people are jealous of something at some point. I see the same thing here in Boise, well more of see it when I go other places. People HATE Boise State. Not because of what BSU stands for, but because their football team can't be BSU's. They don't win like we do. They don't play like we do. Their only option is to hate us, and rub a loss in our face because they finally have 1 thing to hold over us. This is a similar situation with FHS/MHS. MHS finally beat Farragut, and now everyone thinks its ok for them to be immature about it. Same thing with the Boise/Nevada game. Nevada won, and all you saw was everyone rubbing it in Boise's face... but Boise beat Oklahoma and all you heard was fluke, and how we didn't deserve it, and this and that. People still finding a reason to bash us. It's all jealousy. so can you explain a bit canes? don't let em shut it down just so you don't have to explain yourself. Besides, all this thread has been about is Maryville beating Farragut. How did I validate that? That was already a fact.
  6. When Farragut walks the walk and talks the talk, they are bashed for it. They are called arrogant rich snobs that are classless... I love double standards. They are so much fun. Just lets you know that when people only hate when you do it, you've done something right.
  7. I was mostly just kidding about the conspiracy part.. at least when it comes to athletics (we all know the KNS has a love obsession with Farragut and only wants to cover them). the academic part I completely believe, because I read something before they built Hardin Valley talking about their budget and how they wanted to even out all of the schools academically. I don't see any of the other schools getting better. All I have seen is Farragut getting worse, by losing classes. How else can you make your schools even when one is generally regarded as being far above most of the others? They can't afford to raise the others up. The only feasible option they had was to lower the bar (Farragut) so the others could catch up. Farragut wasn't that over crowded to begin with. They need to change the zones back to the way they were, because here in about 5 or 6 years, Hardin Valley will have over 2700 students, and they'll be in the exact same situation. Heck, I wouldn't be surprised if HVA already has more students than Farragut. I mean, was HVA not built for 1700? They had that when they originally opened the doors. Anyways, back to athletics.. The part about Farragut not competing, most people didn't expect them to win a state championship this year. I personally don't expect them to make it out the district tourney. The fact that Farragut was not a favorite to win a state championship, is what I mean by "not competing".
  8. I mean, this is probably the worst Farragut team in over a decade no? I'm sure it's a conspiracy with knox county. They didn't like Farragut winning at stuff so they took kids away. I mean, they took some of the classes away from Farragut that they didn't have at other schools didn't they? Farragut had them because of the amount and type of kids that go there. Taking them away meant there was no need for the classes anymore. They had to even out the schools in the county. They can't be raising all the schools to Farragut's level, because that would never happen. Their only option was to bring the top down. Just sayin... Anyways. with soccer, I just think it's tough to lose as many people as Farragut did and still be a championship team. You just won't see it happen too often at the high school level. The experience isn't there. I kind of figured Farragut would be getting better as the season goes on, but they are also playing some tougher teams as the season goes, so it's hard to say. If Maryville fans did celebrate too much, I can't say I blame them that much, but at the same time, it'd be like Farragut freaking out and rioting if they beat a Maryville football team that had a losing record and no real shot at competing that year. It's still great that you beat them, but it's not like you beat them when they were good.
  9. IF he did add the alumni game specifically to take up the last game suspension so he could coach the Maryville game, that's kind of TSSAA's own fault for making them count an alumni game as a season game. Taking advantage of the rules? certainly. Saying the rules don't apply to him? not really. Because this is a rule that it be counted. It's their own fault. Does it seem sketchy? A bit. In the end, should it really matter? nope. If he is totally with in TSSAA rules for adding a game late.. it being an alumni game, and using it to take up a suspension. He is totally with in his obligation to do so. Like I said, if anything, all this does is showcase another ridiculous TSSAA rule.
  10. guess Farragut's 1 loss without their coach really hurt...
  11. http://rise.espn.go.com/boys-soccer/team-rankings/spring-2011-rankings/Spring-2011.aspx?pursuit=BoysSoccer 8. Hendersonville 28. Brentwood 29. Battle Ground Academy 32. Maryville 35. Bearden 36. Hardin Valley 39. Farragut
  12. Thanks guys, I saw Farragut's schedule and didn't see any Palmetto games listed so I was curious.. I don't see why Farragut would not go simply because they lost a bunch of seniors. If anything, I'd think that's a reason to go to get experience.. Even in a down year, I just can't see Farragut being so bad they'd turn down games. I could see it being a scheduling conflict with a district game or something? And based on looking at the schedules, that'd be the main reason? Bearden game listed as being on the 21st, would be the last day in SC.. Either way, doesn't really matter anymore.. How is Farragut looking this year? Are the young guys good? Did they get a lot of playing time last year? Do we think they'll compete for the 'ship? State? or even DoD?
  13. Why did Farragut withdraw from the Palmetto Cup in SC? Seems like that tournament has really helped them out in recent years.
  14. I think it is both honestly, I just hear more people complain about coaches than the players, because in the past I have seen it as the coaches giving up in the playoffs and not the kids. Or both. It's almost like they get tired of it come November/December and don't want to do it anymore. Either they are worn out, or "it's too cold". Either way, I think the past several years except maybe 1, Farragut has had a team capable of winning a championship and they folded in the playoffs. Ultimately, whether you want it to or not, it comes down to the coaches. Sure it's not fair, but that's part of being a coach. My only real issue with any of this, is that people seem afraid to talk about it. They don't want to degrade anyone or make anyone feel bad. Which is all fine for me when it comes to the kids and not specifically calling them out, especially on here, but I don't see why everyone is afraid to talk about a coaching change, or even just their thoughts on the season. It's almost always positive. People just want the positives out of everything and will be fine with it. Which goes back to what I said last post. top 10 ranking is awesome and all, but at what point to demand the championship? Farragut's been to the qtrfinals like 4 or 5 times the last 7 years right? So at what point do we demand more. Sure we want it now, but when do we decide to make a change to actually get it? 8 years in the quarterfinals? 12? 15?
  15. I didn't say it didn't make a difference, My point is, this isn't the first time we done worse offensively/defensively in the 2nd game. I think it goes back to stuff I hear from a lot of Farragut fans. The coaches don't make changes a lot of times. The gameplan appears to remain the same the 2nd time around, and the opponent, makes changes to stop what worked before, so we just keep running it, while it doesn't work. I mean, sure we are playing generally good/"great" teams in the playoffs in these losses, but I don't get why there is such a significant difference between the regular season game, and the playoff loss. Sure this year there is a reason. What's the one for the Bearden loss? Or last year vs. Maryville? Or the Oak Ridge one? I'm not saying Farragut has bad coaches because they don't. Courtney has done an awesome job, as have the others. Shoup was a great coach as well. The problem is, they can't get them over hump. It's great making the playoffs every year sure. And the quarterfinals the past several seasons. But when you fail to get past that point, when every time you've lost in the qtrs it's to a team you already played, there has to be something said about it. It's like a team from the MEAC in basketball makes it to the conference championship game every year and loses.... At what point do you demand more? 2nd place is awesome, but you need to be able to get to #1, not just be happy with #2. For example, here in Boise, all we hear is how we should be lucky that we are even ranked where we are. The problem is, we want more, and can actually get there. Sure a BCS game is awesome the first couple times, but now we want more. We think we "deserve" or have "earned" more. We aren't just going to be happy being left behind, and 3rd/4th or just a top 10 ranking every year. Especially when we think we have the team to win a championship. Much like Farragut has had a capable team the last several years to win a championship.
  16. And maybe the fact that this isn't the first time it's happened. Losing to a team in the playoffs that the Ads lost to in the regular season seems to be rather common the last few years, often times the games ending up worse or just as bad the 2nd time around. Farragut is 0-6 the last 7 years when playing a team in the playoffs that they lost to during the regular season. Where as the Ads are 7-1 when playing teams they beat in the regular season in the playoffs.. '10 1st meeting: 24-17 Maryville 2nd meeting : 41-10 Maryville '09 1st: 35-32 Maryville 2nd: 35-14 Maryville '08 1st: 31-3 Ooltewah 2nd: 21-14 Ooltewah '07 1st: 35-28 Farragut 2nd: 28-14 Bearden '06 1st: 30-28 Ooltewah 2nd: 42-14 Ooltewah '05 1st: 39-0 Oak Ridge 2nd: 28-7 Oak Ridge '04 1st: 21-14 Oak Ridge 2nd: 48-0 Oak Ridge Just saying, no surprise here. Last 7 playoffs losses? 29.7pts against 1st meeting, 34.7pts against 2nd meeting. 17.4pts for 1st meeting, 10.4pts 2nd meeting. Basically, Farragut gets a TD worse, and the opponent gets almost a TD better... Opponents win by 12.3pts in the regular season, and win by 24.3pts in the playoffs.
  17. Should be a great game. I am leaning towards predicting something similar to what has happened the last several years to Farragut in the playoffs. Play a team you had a hard fought regular season game with, only to lose by a few TDs in the post season. Maryville by 14+ I'm as big an AD fan as any, but I also look at it realistically, I don't see a reason to be overly confident and full of myself/team to predict us to win every game. Especially when the team has had to go through the things they have this year. Great year for the ADs with an awesome schedule, several key injuries, and the passing of a great coach/mentor/teacher.. They've done great things that a lot of people didn't expect them to do. Great season. good luck to both teams, and hopefully no one gets injured. Hopefully I am wrong..
  18. Just remember, he can run on you, and you still win. That's what happened when Bearden played Farragut. He ran for over 200yds I believe, but still lost. Don't worry too much about his yards, just find a way to keep him out of the endzone.
  19. Congrats Ads.. look forward to next week, except, wait. I won't be able to listen! stupid Idaho game... Why do colleges have to play on Fridays? Told you the offense can still score...
  20. As I always say EG, Thanks for what you guys do. You all do an awesome job every week, every year. You put in the work for the great pregame analysis and overview of the Farragut game, as well as other local games. The game it's self is some of the best in high school football I've heard on the radio anywhere. The post game and interviews are always great as well. Keep it up and hopefully I'll get to tune in for at least a few more weeks. I think Farragut can win this game, even with a new QB, who has made what 2 starts? I think a lot of this game is going to come down to the defense. That has been Farragut's weakness this year in my opinion. They seem a little inconsistent at times, giving up unreasonable numbers vs. Riverdale, but then being able to shut others down fairly well. The offense, even with most of it on the sidelines, can still score points. So, I think the D really needs to step up huge this game, and get a few turnovers like they have in a couple games. Getting a quick turnover and lead might be very beneficial to the D to give them some confidence the rest of the game. The Ads have the benefit/disadvantage of the tough regular season schedule. We'll see tonight if the scheduling tactic hurt or helped the Ads. Farragut by 3
  21. It's always that way with Farragut. At least in my experiences. Even in the playoffs, for the most part, fans just don't travel. Unless of course it's Bearden or Oak Ridge. Plus it is also fall break in knox county yeah? I think that's what they said on the radio. I have no clue. I'm not there.
  22. Farragut 3 Maryville 7 Didn't take long for Maryville to answer.
  23. Maryville fumbles the opening kick off Farragut gets ball at 20.. Farragut 3 Maryville 0 FG from the 2 or 3yd line..
