  1. Say,is Romero going anywhere to play? I've been impressed with this kid for the past 3 years and I think he certainly has the talent to play at the next level. Has Miller gotten any looks?
  2. Yeah, especially since there's about 1500 calories in every fudge round! But hey, they're just so irresistable! I remember as a teenager when my mother would buy a box my brothers and I would fight over them! But hey, here's an idea-if Little Debbie ever makes LOW FAT FUDGE ROUNDS Roy could be their official spokes person; you know' like Jared and Subway. BTW, the wife and I have started yet ANOTHER New Year's diet, So to all other Coach T dieters out there -good luck I know it ain't easy!!
  3. Hey, catback old buddy. I just wanted to say that I was at the game Friday and want to say job well done to OS. FC was probably the MOST physical team I've seen in a long time and they had a lot of depth to boot. Os hung in there and never quit, so that says a lot about their team and coaching staff. I think that team represnted their school and community very well.
  4. Nice win pirates. Roy, I wasn't at the game, but I did eat a fudge round in your honor!!
  5. Gobey, actually I was asking Old School what England did on the sideline after the game. He said he "showed himself", so I was just curious.
  6. Old School, Wartburg had a kid that quit LAST WEEK? Are you kidding me? Why on earth any kid would quit that late in the season is beyond me!! But anyway, it sounds like the dogs just had a really good game plan and executed it to a tee. For that reason, I think they deserve to be in the playoffs. I think that Wartburg will have their hands full once again with OS' great running attack; but let's just line it up and play and see what happens. BTW, what did the Sunbright QB do?
  7. Well, well, speaking of people who have disappeared lately!! I'll say one thing CY, my seldom heard from friend-NEVER have I ever griped about refs, so I don't know where you get that. Sav-A-Lot? Naw, I do all my shopping down at the Coalfield Quick Mart, or whatever it's called. Sure I may have commented on some Coalfield late hits a few weeks ago, but I generally leave refs out of the conversation. Maybe you should talk to some of the Oneida folks-they REALLY had a lot to say about late hits on their kicker. Well, anyway CY that's all I've got-talk to you in a few years!
  8. Yeah, no kidding-if Wartburg plays like they did last night England will have a field day!!
  9. Gobey, I left early-what did he do? Also, it seemed to me that OS really came out ready to play and were very focused while the dogs were sleepwalking...or something! Wartburg's recievers couldn't catch a cold-I don't know if they heard footsteps or what!
  10. I've seen ole tiger on a few of your lists. Well, I don't know where he is these days and I don't care, but he seems to have disapeared off the face of the earth! I figured with the great season Sunbright's having, he'd be in rare form, spouting off a mile a minute. Maybe he's been nabbed by aliens or something....but then again, with his mouth they wouldn't keep him for long!
  11. Hello Smash, old friend. Hey, after seeing this kid kick at Coalfield, I must say I'm impressed!! Tell me, is he getting any looks from colleges? I honestly think he could be potential D1! What year is he, anyway?
  12. I was very surprised when I saw the OS-Sunbright score! Either Sunbright played like world beaters or OS just didn't show up! It's hard to say how the Wartburg-OS game will go. I guess it all depends on which team shows up to play. I'd be afraid to make a prediction!!!
  13. Hey, it's okay, I understand. Mine gets her way MOST of the time!
  14. Easy there Old School-I questioned some of the cheap shots Coalfield threw a few weeks ago and about got run out on a rail Nah, seriously, Coalfield might have done some late hitting lately, but their also hitting on all cylinders now so I think their getting in playoff form now! By the way, old44, I looked at the box scores in the paper today at Wartburg's win against Jellico last night and I didn't see Laymance's name. Was he held out for injury or what? Did he play?
  15. Say everybody-I had a question. This game IS to played this Friday October 7th? The reason I ask is I've seen some of the earlier Knoxville schedules had this game scheduled for the 14th. I had considered attending this game and I just wanted to be sure. Thanks.
  16. High strung? Well, now that you mention it, my wife does call me that(among other things!) every once in awhile. You know, the more that I think about it, I got a personal foul called on ME against Coalfield circa 1984 when I knocked a running back out of bounds and he literaly rolled all the way up against the fence. Then I stood up and tried to do a Hulk Hogan pose to the Coalfield sideline. When I saw the whole team about to bum rush me, I literaly ran back to the Wartburg huddle! I don't know what I was more scared of:the opposing team or my head coach! Hey, I'm a lot like you; I try to go to big games also and see different teams play too. I guess this whole rivalry thing just still goes to my head...after all these years. I guess if Wartburg had won, none of this would have bothered me; but I just don't see that happening, not for a few years at least. So I suppose I do need to leave all this stuff back in the 80's where they belong. BTW I only cry when my Vols lose.....so hey,it's all good.
  17. "In vino veritas" Johnny Ringo! So, Goldmember; an OS fan I presume? Whining? Are you kidding me? What about last year in the playoffs when Wartburg was laying the wood to OS? I've NEVER heard anything like the OS fans' bellyaching in my life! I was even standing with an OS fan and even HE called it ridiculous! BTW has #30 from last year completed his anger management yet? I'm sure he still doesn't play well with others! You know I usually just go with the flow on here and don't ruffle many feathers, but it seems sometimes when you speak your peace, some folks just don't like it-go figure.
  18. Whining? No, just stating my opinion is all. By the way, it's not like Coalfield fans to whine-I mean what about the fumbled touchdown at OS a few weeks ago? They looked like 5 year olds being told to get out af the pool or something. So before you get all chummy with Goldmember, please remember that one! Again, what if it had been Coalfield's QB getting hit late? Would Coalfield fans have just shrugged and said, "well, that's football." I sincerely doubt it!!
  19. Gee goldmember you must have been watching "Tombstone " or something-how clever! But I would advise you all not to get too cocky-it's a LONG road to Cookeville.
  20. No shock jock, I won't hush. Emotionally invested? NO not really, but I have to wonder how Coalfield folks would have reacted if the roles had been reversed. Eventual state champions? Whatever you say-but just remember that to do that they'll have to beat the likes of South Pittsburg, and as I recall that didn't turn out too well last year.........
  21. Always volatile? I guess you've played in a few of these games like I have? The coach threw his headset? Well, could you blame him? Like Gary Kreis never threw a tantrum? Are you kidding me? And , even though I have a ton of respect for the man's coaching ability, he showed a lot of sportmanship when Coalfield lost a game in those days-not only would he not be interviewed on the radio, he wouldn't even be quoted in the newspaper! Thankful for WECO? Well, hey I guess any coverage is good coverage, but I wouldn't mind seeing Frick and Frack go-after hearing "it looks good-it is good" and other "Wardisms" for 30 years,I think they've run their course! Again, don't tell me ANYTHING about Wartburg-Coalfield. I vividly recall kids gathering around and throwing gravel at us as we walked out to warm up-course that was in the 80's -maybe before your time. I know some folks from Coalfield too, and when Coach Henry first came and lost a few games, all I heard was bad mouthing from them. So maybe some day when Coalfield goes through some lean times maybe those fickle folks won't rear their heads!
  22. Well, it looks like Wartburg took one on the chin tonight at Coalfield. I wasn't surprised that Coalfield won, but I was surprised at the margin of victory. I also must say that I was VERY baffled as to why Coalfield had their starters in so late in the game. I mean if you're up by 42 points why on earth do you take a risk of getting starters hurt? I guess it was a pride thing or maybe just rubbing some salt in the wounds. Also, whether anybody likes it or not, the late hits on Wartburg's QB were nothing more than CHEAP SHOTS-period. And it's funny to me how the "announcers" on WECO talk about everybody "hugging everybody's neck" after the game. Well, I think that maybe tonight some Wartburg folks weren't in the mood for "neckhugging" and other pleasantries. Personally, I can't stand listening to "Frick and Frack and the Boy Blunder" call games. I guess it goes back to the days of Adcock's lousy John Ward imitations. Usually I preach sporsmanship and class in football, but tonight I think some of it was sorely lacking. Sure, having played for Wartburg for 4 years I know all too well about the emotions in Coalfield games. But I think in this case, starters should have been pulled and all the late hits shouldn't have happened. I know that Coalfield has a really good thing going now and their likely to win for some time. But there is an old saying about "what comes around..."
  23. I also think you can throw the record books out here. I know, I played in 4 of these games! Coalfield is sitting undefeated and looking like a mighty good football team. While Wartburg is young this year, they have played well as of late. So who knows, this could turn out to be a good contest!!
