  1. similar situation to the Cal/UT one...UT beats them on the field then loses to a very good Florida team and the pollsters dropem...common sense isnt required to vote in a poll fortunately these teams control their own destiny and can settle it on the field...again
  2. not fair RRR logic and real numbers have no place here...opinions only please
  3. it is possible to play wide receiver...cornerback and handle the kicking duties
  4. opinions are just that...numbers dont lie very interesting numbers
  5. Dont think Braford will play. Dont think you show your whole hand, but I do think Potter will want to keep the same intensity and level of play. McCallie will have a much needed week off to heel some and then could play this team again.
  6. Jay Fullam/McCallie/DB I posted his name back in July but had no idea this kid would play this well. He leads the team in tackles and most of them are punishing tackles. This kid will play big time at the next level.
  7. Tie for the best combo. Coleman to Bradford Coleman to Dozier
  8. They had film of Skogen laying on the field after an extra point last night, hows the ankle? Im sure he'll play Friday, but how effective will he be?
  9. The fact that he has the potential to play all the positions talked about so far and be successful at any of them speaks for how good an athlete this young man is. A side note on UTC. Talked to a young man (not Skogen) who UTC is talking to. He said they told him he was their top prospect at his position but they wouldnt give him a scolarship because they wanted juco players. Thats sad and why they will never have a "program" there in my opinion.
  10. McGaha was the young man I was thinking of but yeah I forgot about Bruhin they are both very impressive linemen. Any idea where they are going at the next level?
  11. They were pretty impressive on that last drive that we didnt attempt a pass on, ate up clock, and made it a 21 point non blowout. 454 yards of total offense a game, 147 pass attempts, 3 sacks...that aint bad.
  12. As a unit gotta give it up to that McCallie o-line. None as individuals grab your eye, but what they do as a unit is impressive. Not sure what his name is but the kid from Powell is as good as I've seen in person.
  13. McCallie has 147 pass attempts. Opponents 3 sacks. As good as their skill players are, and I think they are top notch, that is fantastic line play. Its hard to take your eyes off B.J. and company but watch that line work and you can see another reason why they are so effective on offense.
  14. McCallie has a few good ones: Johnny Newman RB/LB Josh Bain OL/DL Reggie Poindexter RB
  15. djfan...i could not have said it better or nearly as nicely
  16. Lets not forget the men up front who give the backs, receivers, and B.J. time and space to work their majic. Josh Bain..Thomas Green..Aaron Cook..Nick Yetter..Keith Myatt..Andrew Dann I'd be curious to know how many times B.J.s been sacked or hurried. It sure doesn't seem like many.
  17. Absolutely agree, with the talent and coaching in this league anyone can beat anyone on any given night. I would just hate to see the 2 best teams meet in a semi-final, no matter who it is, just because of the location of the schools. Not trying to look too far ahead, there is a long way to go in this young season. Just wasnt sure how the system worked.
  18. I'm new to Tennessee high school football and not sure how the playoffs work. By all appearances McCallie and BA are the class of the field in D2. My question is if they take care of business and finish 1/2, will they be in opposite sides of the playoff bracket? 2 great teams, in a great league, played a great game with sportsmanship and respect. Last night is what high school football is all about.
  19. I dont know the rule interpretation for this situation, but something similar I've always wondered is, why at the end of a half/game and a team is behind but driving do they rush to spot the ball?
  20. Just curious. Do you know what the reasoning was for not admitting these kids?
  21. I was not offended in any way, I was actually just clarrifying. Sorry if I came off the wrong way. I personally do not believe in luck though. Was it luck when Riverdale recovered the second half kickoff and drove in for the score? No, the opportunity came and they took advantage of it. Did Potter assist them in doing so? No, I assure you he did not mean for that to happen.
  22. SCN I understand your a young man who was part of a painful loss last night, but I can assure you luck had nothing to do with it. McCallie practices everyday stripping and recovering footballs. They practice everyday getting their hands up to tip passes then intercepting them at the highest point. They practice their 2 minute offense several times a week and yes they practice the hail mary at least once a week. I know Ive seen them do it several times. I call that being prepared for the oppotunities presented you. Riverdale played a fantastic game, but some poor decisions were made and McCallie was prepared to take advantage of them. Keep your head up and look to the future, I think your team has a bright one.
  23. Technically their 1-0 since they have only played 1 game. Actually they are 1-0 since the scoreboard said so.
  24. This game was a pickem on this thread and every paper Ive seen and Im not sure last night changed peoples mind about their team. Both teams had alot of positives to point at and have a few negatives to address. Thats why they will be better for having played this "meaningless" game. When they are put in similar situations against teams that count toward their ultimate goal they hopefully will react in a positive way. Good luck to both teams and thank you for not ducking top notch competition.
