  1. I think reality will set in this week for Elizabethton. I am not trying to be a hater. Science Hill has far superior team speed and size and Carter will find the right combo to win this one. The big question marks are with the Science Hill passing game against the Elizabethton pass defense. The secondary for Betsy was not tested Friday night as Volunteer only threw a few passes. Science Hill will test it. I have not seen how they did against Soddy Daisy passing the ball. Whoever wins this part of the game will most likely win. IMO: Science Hill 28 Elizabethton 14
  2. I think Shawn didn't run up the score on his Uncle because his Uncle shut him down in the second half. Call it cramps or whatever you like but you guys should probably play your "CAT 3's" as you call them the entire game against Science Hill and Greeneville. Those are two games that will go in your "L" column. Half of your passing yards were on the midline screen, once that was taken away you were forced to run. If you had left #7 in the backfield maybe you would have had a drive in the second half, because he did the most damage early. You guys did enough to win and I hope you have a good season, but give a little credit to the Falcons for at least part of your struggles in the second half.
  3. Science Hill vs DB will probably determine Big 8 Champion IMO. I don't think TH , Boone, or South has enough to drop either 6A school this year and neither does anyone else in the conference.
  4. I thought the Falcons showed potential last night. Good game to watch and we were in position late to pull within 7 and maybe tie it up before the end. Elizabethton appeared to be solid and should have a good season. I think the second half our defense adjusted and shutdown alot of what the Cyclones were doing offensively. Good hard running by Devin and Ethan last night. I saw some solid play at times by the O Line. These guys can do it if they can put all 4 quarters together. Devin came to my house last night and he didn't appear too banged up. I saw a couple of injured falcons last night but hopefully nothing a few days won't fix. Hopefully we can identify the problems and make corrections this week to get ready to go to North next week. I expect North to try to control the clock by grinding it out on the ground. Our defense will have to be ready so our offense will have the ball long enough to find some rythym. Go Falcons!
  5. Here is how I think it ends up: 1. DB 2. Science Hill 3. TN High 4. South 5. Boone 6. Crockett 7. Volunteer 8. Central
  6. Man CAP1, you sure got somebody in KPT in a twist. Sounds like a spoiled rich kid. By the way CAP, I need to see you to purchase some of your famous CROW Sauce. Always good to have a bottle to give away. And for the times I need it myself, I would rather have my own bottle.
  7. I agree about the bands, people with "small" bladders, kids, etc. What about the late fan at the BIG rivalry game. He always shows up about 30 seconds after kickoff and expects to sit on the 50 yard line!!! And to make it worse he brings his wife and kids.
  8. Luke Cradic ( Volunteer ) to Maryville College http://therogersvillereview.com/story/10698
  9. I have been hesitant to put this out here out of respect for those involved, but I feel I need to do it. Volunteer has a football player that I will not name out of respect for how the family may feel, that is very , very ill right now and in need of everyone's prayers. I will not go into the nature of the illness since I do not know all the details but please just remember this young man as you pray for his health. The Lord knows who he is and what his needs are. Thank You.
  10. Who all is out for Volunteer. Many weeks ago,I know a lot of your key players were hurt.I know your kids will play as hard as they can to make this a great ending to their season. I hope our guys understand that every practice and the game with Volunteer is a chance to add some momentum. If we come out flat,I will be shocked. It may not look important to some, but it is the last time a lot of players will get a chance to play football.Good luck to your senior players as they take on the world Since week four we have been missing 8 starters and a couple of backups for the season. Four or five season ending surgeries included. This bunch has fought hard and some of the younger guys have stepped up and looked impressive at times, but this has been too big of an obstacle to overcome. We lost another starter for this week on Friday night. This bunch will practice hard and play hard and have not quit in any of the games this season. For that we are proud and will remember this team for never quitting or giving up. Frustrating? Yes , most definitely. I have watched this group of seniors for their entire lives and am proud of each of them. I know as a complete unit they would have won some games this year. They will play hard Friday Night and will not quit. We hope they can keep the game respectable and we will cheer for every last one of them as for many this is their last game. I wish you guys the best in the playoffs.
  11. It's been one heck of a ride..... I wouldn't trade a second of it.
  12. After reading the posts on the Elizabethton vs Volunteer thread and then some on here, I believe I'm about done with this all together. Volunteer's problems are not with one player, one coach, one fan. Football is a team sport. These are kids 14 to 18 years old, not NFL players. I get tired of hearing one player or group of players get dogged for not doing something right, the same as one player getting all the glory for a TD or win or all the blame for a loss. It has been no secret who I am. I am Luke's dad. This is baloney to blame the O-line, Luke, any other individual player, the defense, Coach Rider, or anybody else individually or as a unit. It is a team and we as parents and fans are an extension of the team, not a part of it. We do not make one tackle, one TD, one block, or call one play. We do not run any sprints, grass drills, or put any effort into making this team better. Get off their back and leave them alone. Support them or SHUT UP!!! I'm out.
  13. My deepest sympathies to the Logue family and the South team and community. My prayer is that God will give each of you comfort and strength to get through this most difficult time. You are not alone in your grief. I have been and will continue to pray for you all.
  14. On behalf of all of the Volunteer Falcons: Our thoughts and prayers are with the Logue family and the entire Sullivan South community. The tragic news of Jake's passing really put things in perspective last night. After suffering a huge loss on the football field, it immediately made me forgot sports and want to get my son off the bus home from Elizabethton and savor every minute that I can with him. Luke was shocked to hear the news and I think it shook him up. They had met and spent a little time together at the Blue Chip camp over the summer. Again, our sincerest sympathies go out to the family, team, and community. May God comfort all of you. Tony Cradic
  15. Yes, I did. I had my mud/jello/gravy wrestling tights on and was looking for you!! Greeneville looked very good in the scrimmage. I assure you that Volunteer was way off their game that night. We had several sick but everyone seemed flat as well. We haven't got our feet under us yet but hopefully we will right the ship shortly. I still think we can reach the playoffs but not the way we played in Greeneville. We definitely got our hands full with Elizabethton tomorrow night and it don't get any easier the rest of the way. I think one of your receivers ( Wright ) was a teammate of my son at Mars Hill this summer, they ended up 7-2 in a passing league tournament over there.
  16. My Picks: Crockett 21 Sull East 20 Sull Central 21 Sull North 14 Volunteer 20 Elizabethton 17 Science Hill 31 Soddy Daisy 14 Daniel Boone 20 Seymour 14 Sull South 28 Knox West 14 Dobyns Bennett 28 Farragut 24 Extra Greeneville 28 Jeff County 17
  17. We ( Volunteer ) looked horrible at Greeneville in a scrimmage so I see why Barb would pick Betsy big. Why do you think Falcons will beat Betsy? Just curious, I really don't know what Betsy has got this season. I also don't know which Falcon team is gonna show up. Hard to pick a winner in Week 0. Go Falcons!!!
  18. Who are the Studs on defense in the conference this year?
  19. Your Momma.....3-peat!!!
  20. How did #44 do for TN High? He is a BEAST. He reminds me of Jason Witten. I watched TN High play DB last season and they don't use him nearly enough. Give the BEAST the ball and let him rumble over anybody that doesn't get blocked.
  21. Don't be disappointed Waco....we still have plenty of "Redneck" to go around. It usually takes until the middle of basketball season to polish it into perfection. Good to see you yesterday VHSFalcon. Didn't get to talk to you much. Are you going to Greeneville next week? I think it starts at 7 PM ( 8/7) if I am not mistaken.
  22. Any truth to the rumor that I heard about Science Hill...that Norris would be in line for QB but would not be on the team until about week 2 or 3? Also, what about Cepeda (sp?)?
  23. The "Big 8" QBs I know about: Volunteer: Cradic, 1500+ passing yds last season, too many rookie mistakes last year ( I should know ) Boone: Connell , Good hard-nosed kid that can run over you TN High: Harmon , Maybe the best arm in the conference DB: Roop , 1st year starting but definitely worthy of 1st team South: St. Clair or Haden, I know little about either one Central: ??? Crockett: ??? Science Hill: Norris?, I hear he may be back from Baseball about week 3 Go figure.
  24. Final Score was Volunteer 2 Unicoi 0 Hard to tell much, I couldn't even see the other side of the field it was raining so hard. Looks like both have some improving to do, Volunteer defense was around the ball with some hard hitting all day. Both offenses sputtered due mostly to the rain ( hard to throw/catch, mishandles/fumbles). Unicoi mounted one long drive and would have scored if not for a slippery ball on the pitch. Volunteer mounted about four or five drives but couldn't punch it in a few times. Both will get better and probably are a lot better than we saw in the soup today, the practice field doesn't allow for spreading people out very well. Is next week at Greeneville??? ( 8/7 ) P.S. Great to finally see some hitting, gets the blood pumping.
  25. Last I heard Volunteer is at Greeneville 8/7. It could have changed I guess, stranger things have happened.
