Why not just one class that includes all publics and all privates. That would not be watered down. Huge championship game attendance! A championship that really meant something.
Some of you that are talking about four classes of public’s and two classes of privates are still offering a more water downed product than existed 25 years ago.
Sometimes the school administration does support athletics and school district does not. No matter how "pro-athletics" your principal is if the central office and school board do not believe athletics are important then your program will struggle. And the number of districts that see athletics as important and vital to the school is shrinking every year.
They will never bring the privates back in. Too many bridges burned.
5 publics and 2 private classifications would make the most sense but small privates will hate it as will public’s who will be put in a higher classification than they already are.
But they did not compete in 6A so they don't count.
Still curious for when the last time a Rural LARGEST classification team was in the state championship.
Bad might be a poor choice of words. My point was that 6A rural schools have not been relevant in terms of state championships for quite sometime. When was the last time you saw one in the largest classification championship game?
Rural 6A football has been bad for a long time. Memphis teams, RuCo teams, WillCo teams and Maryville always are represented in the championship. The large rural county schools cant’t compete like they once could. Maybe is 1A-5A but not 6A.
Unreal! Congrats to Whitehaven. Could have folded numerous times but showed great perseverance. Coach Saulsberry did a great job keeping his kids in the game. Great season by Oakland.
Oakland should stay with their wing-t stuff. Whithaven sees I-Formation all the time and seems to play it well. The wing-t seems to be giving them more trouble.
