I'm still around just tired of all the junk on here now so don't post much Call me out?? LOL.. but what TT says is true for the 1A teams we contacted. Of course I'm sure there are 1A teams that would play us but distance and having the schedule openings are other issues that go into both teams schedule wise. There are a lot of other local 2A and larger teams that don't want any of SP either. That's why we are playing a 6A Franklin Co tomorrow night. Speaking of Franklin. They are not a top tier 6A team but they are a decent 6A team, definately not a team the coaches are taking lightly. Their depth and size and our lack of it will be an issue late in the game. With our injuries and other issues this could be a very tough one to win. We need some kids to step it up!

I talked to at least a dozen kids on the sideline during the game...the leaders are there just none have stepped up to that role yet. This is a different group of senior. Last years group of seniors had stronger personalities and were leaders as a group but it until after the Polk game we really didn't know how they would handle adversity. Last years team was the senior's team...they owned it and they made it a Championship team. I don't see a "team" yet in 2011..just a very talented bunch of football players. I think there are a couple Jrs and maybe some Sophs that could step up and be leaders on this team as well as a couple seniors. Only time will tell...I do have a lot of faith in these kids...I have coached almost every one at some point. They all know how to win and that means a lot!

We looked pretty good in the scrimmage on Sat...Tuesday against Bledsoe had some bright spots but was disappointing...no leaders have stepped up...senior or otherwise. We have very good players but we are not a team...yet. There are a few kids (some underclassmen) that need to step up and take charge or this could be a disappointing season

Little Man is my guess but look for Lankford to get a lot of carries. Always good for your backs to have something left for the 4th Qtr. BTW...The Power (goalline/short yard) set is gonna be pretty tough to stop with our big linemen and the 3 big backs in. We pounded Bradley Central in goalline

Jake will be fine. Made some mistakes but nothing unexpected at this point. He made some good reads and throws too. Everyone needs to remember he didn't play most of last year so his game experience at QB is minimal. It will take some time for him to get comfortable with his reads at game speed. He will make some mistakes but he does a good job of running the O. The Freshman back-up QB is real green (Jake needs to stay healthy) but I see a lot of talent in him.

Along the same line a Brainerd coach said to his players as we were preparing to scrimmage them..."You better be ready because we are about to see where we really are". Pretty cool when a 1A team is a measuring stick for the bigger schools

5 way scrimmage Sat at 5 PM CT at Bradley Central. Beside SP and BC there will be Brainerd, Clinton and McMinn Central

We could pretty much move the ball running and passing and Union City couldn't stop our offense but one way...keep them off the field. They had a great offensive game plan but the between the tackle running didn't hurt us as much as the sweeps and counters to the edges that killed us when we had them stopped 3rd and long and we had the box loaded to stop the power run. That game was just a couple plays defensively (or offensively really) from being a Pirate victory. One stop...just one.. and we win that game. I didn't like the spread when we first went to it but is a good of a running offense as it is a passing offense. it is perfect for the personnel we have. We would not be nearly as good running the power I or a similar offense

If we can just stay healthy...we were pretty lucky last year in that respect, one or 2 injuries would have hurt us and the situation is similar this year...tough schedule has rewards but also risks but rather have it this way than play cream puffs the whole way. GO PIRATES!!!

Just to clarify...I was talking about me not having to sugar coat about JB not playing a regular season game. Maybe I should have sugar coated it a little LOL but it sure did liven things up!!!
