I loved the story.some Holston kids actually ended up at South Doyle if I'm not mistaken.My brother was a frosh in the 1st every South Doyle High and his yearbook has pics of kids in Houston unis playing Volleyball that ended up going to SD

Rule Golden Bears!!! Doyle Pioneers,Young Trojans,Holston Warriors all should still be open.I miss those days!! I think before the closure maybe 1990 was it? Rule & Holston played JV schedules because not enough for Varsity.1991 I think their last year both played Varsity games

There is a thing not everyone knows about where it's approved by TSSAA that teams can play a 11th game which if you want to give it a name & call it a bowl then go ahead.I help out in the Careacter Bowl.Teams go there with anywhere from a 0-10 record or sometimes 5-5 and everywhere in between.I know people hate the everyone gets a trophy idea in the world today but listen now.The games which have grown to 4 a year now(1 Thursday night and 3 Saturday) go towards a different charity.This past Bowl went to Lane Lee.A ill young man from the Oliver Springs Football team who is very kind.We set a record for t-shirt sales & attendance.Teams came from as far away as Bledsoe County almost 100 miles one way & York Institute 71 Miles one way & both were ready to play as were all teams,& happy to play.TSSAA gives each team playing in this credit for a win & score though kept by coaches, fans,players isn't kept on the scoreboard.We started this 3 years ago in the King's Academy vs Lenoir City game which was the first time during any level of football in any country this had happened earning us a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records!!! I also watched online Zion Christian who is trying to build up their program finished 1-8 & did not have a 10th game.They hosted Pickett County 0-10 in a Bowl game @ Zion which Pickett won in a very competitive,high scoring game.Both teams were winners there as they both took their share of beatings.Same with the Sunbright vs Union County Careacter Bowl game.Very close & competitive.I love football so wouldn't want to play in another game.The the folks at Grace are awesome & the facilities beyond awesome!!!

South Doyle getting some bad calls.3 obvious late hits=no call.A punt hit a Farragut player recovered by South Doyle.Refs says no fumble.Players engaged in blocking.That means squat.That is a fumble.Then a nice return called back.Flag thrown on SD once player broke free.Reply showed no illegal block!!! Then player gets unsportsmanlike conduct on top of that.Even Anti South Doyle announcers thinking SD getting hosed somewhat

Duncan was supposed to leave years ago and start the program at Knoxville Christian School that TSSAA screwed out of playing football.They were in some jamborees but TSSAA stopped them

King's I understand has Greenback as well as Knoxville Grace and GP though I understand Sevier County School Super has sent out a memo to all Sevier County Public Schools not to play King's in any sport.York had a game with King's but I understand may back out

At Farragut.Farragut beat them 62 to 26 I believe.SD was banged up and it was close for awhile.Both teams pulled off amazing comebacks.The local tv here in Knoxville was depressed talking about how they would have to pick a game in the Chattanooga area to cover a local team game next week.Then low and behold Farragut pulls one out!!

Winning easy & resting your starters early is great thru the season but it hurts as your players get rusty & when you are in a game for 4 quarters then you aren't sharp.The Greene Devils haven't had a full game in forever & I think it cost them

Congrats on the win Cyclones.Keep it classy.Always treated very good in my trips out there.Hopefully some Unaka players & fans were there so they could get tips on how to play a football game & run a program.Good luck next week in the Battle Of the Wind Bags lol

Oliver Springs was great to play in it to benefit their player.Unlike Kingston who did not play despite being asked and begged to in the game years ago to benefit their player who was paralyzed in a game.

Pickett County played in a Bowl game vs Zion Christian this year and won their first game this season!!! Granted their records were not good at all but hey lol

Sorry to tell you but this Bowl is more than good enough & to the schools who snub it well it is your loss.Each year the Careacter Bowl & it's now 8 games help at least 1 young man or young lady in need.All proceeds from T-shirt sales which we set a record of this year, food,ticket sales,ect all go to the person in need.This year it went to Lane Lee who is very ill with Leukemia.All teams who play in the Careacter Bowl get credited per TSSAA with a win.The Sr's get 1 last game & the schools a extra week of practice.Offically the scoreboards reads 0 to 0 though everyone is welcome to keep track.As a fan & helper of the Bowl I think it is great.Some teams had injuries or whatever during the year which caused them to not make the playoffs.Everyone who plays in the game is a winner.York,Blesoe traveled very far to play and drew great crowds.All teams looked great and had fun as did the fans.

Many ppl think it was a tournament lol.4 great games.Thanks to all schools that came.It meant so much to Lane @ Oliver Springs.Record T-shirt sales and record crowds

What is going on there? Parents too involved? I heard something like a bunch of the kids took fall break and skipped out then thought they could just show back up and play? The talent is there but they hit rock bottom.What is going on out there in Chief land? I enjoy catching games there

I also heard more bad news from Unaka.It seems their baseball team won't play this year either.When asked during a interview in the paper the coach said"my school don't have enough balls in fact they don't have any!!!"

Unaka would often run the score up on King's Academy but when King's started beating them they couldn't find room on the schedule for them anymore

Concord wouldn't even play in the Careacter Bowl!!!!! Subright 1-9 vs Union.Co 0-10.Both teams are so excited to play in that.Nice 11th game for a great cause.Unaka a sad situation.They had some good teams that made playoffs and bowls in the past.

I also demand they change their school nickname to the Possums.Possums play dead at home and get killed on the road.A ranger is something to be proud of.Tough,never quit.Sure as heck not Unaka

I have more respect for them for losing 71 to 0 then to wimp out and quit.Any player on the football team who plays in another sport has to sit out 5 games minimum, school gets 4 year post season ban in football and has to pay a fine to TSSAA as well as restitution to Greenback for loss of revenue.Concord Christian should replace Unaka in the playoffs as they will at least try.What a joke
