District Tournament Policy

The TSSAA should step in and set standards for hosting district tournaments. I realize that there are "haves" and "have nots" in every district, but the rotation of tournaments to unsafe, and ungroomed facilities for tournament play is ridiculous. This may be difficult in some small A districts where the facilities might not be as good all the way around, but most districts have a marquee field or multiple marquee fields. The field and facilites, including unmended fences, protruding objects, poor field maintenance, unacceptable playing conditions etc. should not ever come into play in a tournament situation. In basketball, the best gym hosts the tournament year in and year out, why should this be any different for baseball. In the district, you should have a tarp, regulation bullpens and a facility that will not have the potential to effect play. I have a problem with this, because it is happening this year, specifically in several class A districts. What makes it worse is that these facilities will not make improvements prior to hosting the tournament, which should be an honor, not a headache.

Are you talking about region 13AA?

There are standards in place. If you have legit reasons against a host facility, contact the TSSAA and log your grievance. If there is anything to the claim, they will react. They have moved tournaments before, even at the last minute.

That is not true for basketball.  I believe they have a minimum number that the gym must seat but it rotates from one school to another.  (as far as I know)

Minimum gym/stadium size doesn't matter for district play. It only comes into play for regional and sectional play.

Each district has the ability to set the policy for hosting district play in sports other than football. In basketball, baseball, and softball, most districts alternate the tourney sites among all of the district teams. Really, that's the only equitable way to do it. If a school doesn't feel like they can host a tourney they have the ability to decline hosting duties and pass it off to the next school in the rotation.

    • Are you kidding me?  You are just trolling now.  The new head coach's qualifications would be volunteer coach at the Oak Ridge Boys Club?  C'mon man, you can't be serious.  You're trolling us.  Anybody working at Clinton High School has to be like a cat in a room full of rocking chairs at this point.  They are coming after anybody and everybody that had knowledge of what was going on.  This is about to get real ugly.  Only in Clinton.
    • JT I know you don’t want these people to find out but why you weren’t allowed to be apart of the program because that would be a shame. Unfortunately the commander and the refuter were not allowed to be around the program due to inappropriate relationships with female students at the school while they were members of the coaching staff. Which is what led to them trying to get Grabowski fired early on during his success at Basin. As a student from polk county who knew about these allegations I find it very hard to sit here and let these men talk about other people when no body knows the truth about them.
    • So no way they can compete with the likes of McCallie or Baylor still then
    • I wouldn’t be shocked at all. Surely he has to be fire/made to resign. Maybe new OC will get another title here soon
