A little poor mouthing going on from the Powell faithful. Powell should in the hunt for the top spot in the region next year. Sure Maryville is the odds on pick until someone proves differently. But Powell has the talent to compete if not beat the best in the Region. They should be a lock for the playoffs with a very good chance to get a first round home playoff game.

As far as being able to compete with Halls. That is laughable. Halls has a new coach and things will be more positive on the North side of the ridge but they still don't have any talented athletes. Halls will be there with West fighting for that final playoff spot. Powell will beat Halls by 2 T.D's next year.

Red Bank and Mo. West should give Powell a good idea exactly how good they are.

I can't remember the last time Halls or powell beat the other by more than a TD.  What makes this year so different?

Hopefully one thing that might be different is that the game won't be played ankle deep in mud in a hurricane.

Do you really believe that if the game hadn't been played in the conditions that it was last year that it would have been a seven point game?

Honestly, Powell doesn't have the team to stay on the field with Halls, Clinton, or South-Doyle, much less Maryville or Central. None of the other region 3 teams need to worry about preparing for the Panthers. They can go ahead and work on the following week's opponents. :D

HIV i agree with dilweed what makes you think that either team will win by more than a touchdown.  that game is always close because of the hate they have for each other.

Primarily because of who will be returning from both teams. I'm happy for Kevin Julian and I believe that he will do a good job at Halls, but there just isn't a lot there right now for him to work with.

You are right, however. It is a big rivalry and it's normally closer than it should be. We'll see what happens in September.

    • Never in my life have I seen a team in a scrimmage against their own defense look so lost and confused. The defense didn’t look much better, the coaching staff can’t keep their anger together, not only with the players but also with their other coaches. I feel awful for those players. None of them look like they wanted or should’ve been out there, but for the grown men on the sidelines acting like fools, it's just embarrassing to the Farragut name and reputation. I now see why they chose not to live stream this on their YouTube channel.
    • We could sure use some math teachers country wide. Ever go into a store or restaurant and the bill comes to $9.97 and you give them a ten dollar bill and 2 pennies because you wanted a nickle back and then the meltdown starts and the next thing two more people have to come and help figure it out and the place comes to a complete halt. I see this everyday and it's a sad representation of all these schools allowing these kids out the door to get shortchanged the rest of their life.
    • I like the Pirates chances. I’ll be there as soon as work allows.
    • Stars, I heard we were searching far and wide for some math teachers. Any chance their kids bench press or 40 times are getting checked? LOL I’ve heard good things from 825.
    • I think it was expected. “Bad” luck I guess to get a couple difference maker QBs in the same class. I thought the decision was made a little early myself, but they were struggling offensively last year.  I assume the running quarterback alco had last year would be a senior this fall, and the transfer would start the following two years in addition to getting a ton of playing time this year. Maybe he waits two yrs, but I doubt it. The kid is good. So is the one who stayed.
