doodle_bug_1111
District 2-AA Softball This tourney bracket is all messed up, and the TSSAA had to make a ruling as to just who is seeded where. South Greene had to forfeit three district games, and it was determined Wednesday that Pigeon Forge is also having to forfeit some games for the same reason that South Greene did: some team members participated on a recreation league slowpitch team. A play-in game between Chuckey-Doak and Cumberland Gap is set for today at the Black Knight field. First round games will then be played at the home field of the higher seed on Friday or Saturday. Rutledge is the regular season champ. West Greene is seeded No. 2 and will host Claiborne. South Greene is seeded No. 5 and will go to Union County. The final four go to Pigeon Forge for double-elimination tourney play.

I think that would be the games after the illegal participation. That would explain the forfeits. Their post-season eligibility would be determined by when the violation occured. Bleacherbum
just wondering but what is the point of this rule? 825668927[/snapback] Probably to keep those that are playing 2 sports at the same time from getting a competitive edge on others, and also, to keep skilled athletes from taking away spots on rosters that are normally reserved for rec league players
skyhawk22
They are actually just looking out for the health of the players. Kids do not need to be playing 150 games in the matter of 3 months. It was originaly developed for baseball teams because of the injuries to pitchers. Girls just happen to follow the same rules. All the same, it's a good rule. Some parents are crazy, they would have girls playing 7 days a week 4-5 games a day.
