lakecountyfalconfan you are correct in the fact injuries could play a significant role in how the falcons fair this year. Injuries hampered the Falcon playoff effort last year with key guys missing or playing less than 100% Mays(ankle) and Kyle Rodriquez(ankle) just to name a few. That was a key in the outcome last year versus Fayette. Also the players must stay focused and improve in some key areas. The fall scrimmages wil allow the coaching staff to determine a few things about this years club. It is a very tuff preseason schedule that will test the Falcons early and often with AAAA Brighton, AAA Crockett Co. and Covington, AA Trenton Peabody and Gibson Co. The only A team on the scrimmage schedule is Middleton. Hopefully the Falcons will be battle tested and ready come Aug. 26 vs Byhalia,MS.

None of us really know what to expect this season. The region is gonna' be tough and there will be three teams at lest that must be dealt with. Lake Co. will be tough along with Union City and my Rebels from McKenzie. At least for the next five years, this will be one of if not the toughest Class A region in the state. Everybody better bring their A game on Friday night to survive it.

Bet of luck to the Falcons and the Rebels!

GO REBELS!!!!!!

I hear practices have went well so far with 33 players now gracing the Falcons roster. Much better than the 27 in 2003 and 25 last year 2004. The players were deadlegged yesterday from the two-a-day practices on Mon. and Tues. Hopefully they will get their legs back for Fridays scrimmage b/c they will need to be fresh for the competition they are facing.

With all the starters returning you will see very few freshman getting significant playing time for the Falcons this fall. The only way you would have freshmen starting was if their was a rash of injuries and let's all keep our fingers crossed so that doesn't happen. On a side note the Falcons looked good at times and showed signs of rust against Crockett and Brighton in their scrimmage today. scored once on Crockett Co. ( actually twice but an inadvertant whistle on an option play brought the ball back) while Crockett did not score. Brighton scored once on the Falcons and the LC did not score on them. The three teams then went goalline situation placing the ball on the 15 with 5 plays to score. Crockett Co scored once on the Falcons and LC drove it to the 1 on Brighton but could not punch it in on play 4 or 5. In JV action the LC and Brighton each score 1 TD. All in all LC looked ok for a first scrimmageNeed to wiork on some things before week one and Byhalia but that is expected this time of year.
