Oak Ridge won the series 3 games to 2 last year with the teams pretty much even in basketball. And im a Clinton fan but if Clinton beats AC why would we tear down our own goal posts. If AC played the schedule Clinton has played they would be 2-2 at BEST not possibly any better. I thought AC was good after the Fulton win but Fulton is way down this year, and AC hasnt played any other truely talented teams. They have played 1 good team 2 decent teams an 1 bad team. They lost badly to the good team, beat each decent team by 1 point, not in slaughtering fashion. And beat the bad team by about as much as they should have. Clinton will stay in this one to the end. They might not win but they will be in the ball game during the 4th quarter.

That team that AC beat that wasn't very good was a Greenville team that Clinton scrimmaged in the fall and couldn't manage a single score against. Seems that AC managed a little more than none against them. Webb is a decent team I guess, they will only play for the private school championship this year. Fulton terrible this year, they only beat Boyd-Buchanan by 40 last week. Good post, made a lot of sense.

fulton is decent arent they? webb isnt any good they beat powell who just beat mccallie two weeks ago and they are decent. you have absolutely no clue what you are speaking about. did clinton not just lose to south doyle the same south doyle team that has won how many? 1 game in two years previous to the clinton game?

clinton has played two very good teams and lost by a combined 111-0 and played two very bad teams beat one and lost to the other.

where is the logic in predicting scores by who you played previously cpuff123?

With Huddleston, Abdulraman, Phillips, Davis catching passes, Clinton has the weapons this year. The key is they are banged up and they are playing behind an inexperienced offensive line with an inexperienced quarterback in York. York can make plays, but he plays in spurts. He will make a great play then a bonehead play. Clinton is constantly improving and, if we don't have a tackling debacle like against OR, AC fans will see that this week. They finally ran the ball with Spears but he lacks the capability of making big plays. Oh yeah, to respond to an earlier question . . . I do not think the basketball coach discourages them from playing football, but I do not think he encourages them to either. You look at schools with successful programs and they support each other. If you look at the basketball team right now you could have Dye, Dixon, Whitt, Garner, Gardner, etc. all on the football field making plays. That would make a HUGE difference in Clinton's athleticism and overall team speed.

    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
    • An FYI: To see how an opponent has done against another opponent since 2001- go to the game by clicking on one of the teams. Click the G beside the game. For example, Milan: The info will show you the previous matchups and other info.
    • All these college signees went yo other schools for 3 years, were getting college offers then transferred to Bearden. It’s not like this staff did much to develop them.    The BBall coaches son and the Seymour transfer were some of the most talented QBs in the region, and you guys developed them into QBs who might complete one pass a game.
