It looks like Chuckey-Doak's #5 ranking was a bit inflated.

CD was exposed for as an average team that would rather foul than play soccer as indicated by no less that 6 yellow cards....and many more that could have been given for elbows thrown at players heads etc. They have some athletes, in particular their sweeper and one of the smaller forwards were athletic, but unfortunately would rather retaliate than play soccer when they get beaten....if they correct this they might be able to earn their way back against many teams ranked below them but that clearly can outplay them at this point.

This game exposed an issue....what can be done when a team is beaten, they are on their way out, and they appear to take the attitude that it is OK to hurt the other team's players (I am not exactly saying this is the intent of CD, but I saw it last spring in some boy's game). What should be done when a player that knows their season (maybe their high school career) is minutes from ending, and they decide to take out a top player on a team advancing...what could be or should be done????

The refs have to be vigilant and help, but as a coach, if a game is in hand and turning ugly, you get your key players off the field to protect from injury as well as the ever present possibility of catching a needless retaliation caution or ejection.

In a way it was interesting...the Coach said it was our fault.....we held the ball to long and gave them enough time to catch up with our players and get physical...if we move the ball around fast enough, they can't get close enough to attack!!! they moved it faster today at Finley!
