I thought we had a great board last year. What are everyones preason picks? I know they don't mean much, but it is fun to talk about. I would expect this district to be very even again. My preseason picks are

1. Claiborne- Nickel should (could) be player of the year in this district. Estes shoots

the lights out.

2. Cumberland Gap- Brim and Fultz will be tough to stop

3. Rutledge- Lost a lot but they played a lot of young kids last year. Hudsdon is a

Stud and Reischling will be tough

4. Gatlinburg- Lost 3 Key seniors, but played harder this summer than they have in 3

years. Could shock some people.

5. Pigeon Forge- Lost about 80% of last years offense. Graduated 5 seniors

(3 starters). Have a lot of inexperience but also could surprise

6. Union County- Could be a long year. Lost a lot off last years team and did not

look very good this summer.

I think Claiborne is the clear favorite with C.G at 2. Those two are probably a notch above everyone else. 3-5 Could go in any direction with those 3 teams probably being pretty equal. Those spots could come down to coaching in the end.

3 best players in the district are probably Nickel, Hudson, and Fultz. With Brim and Estes real close.

Claiborne will absolutely be tough to stop this season, and will be the team to beat in the district. Andrew Nickell is the real deal.

Cumberland Gap might be in a position to surprise some people after losing 4 of their key players from last year. If A.J. Fultz decides to dominate the middle this year, there will be few who can stop him..

Does Claiborne, Cumberland Gap, or Rutledge have any scrimmages coming up? Keep us posted....

Not the best start for the Panthers, but they have played some tough competition. They lost to Bradley Central 71-57 on Saturday 11/19, and to Campbell, GA 68-55 on Monday 11/21. The Bradley Central game doesn't have to count, so technically The Gap is 0-1 on the season.

Tyler Brim scored 21 & 23 respectively, after moving from the point to 2 guard this season. A.J. had 13 points in one game, and Taylor Lowe is coming along nicely on offense.

Joey McFall, Clay Bisceglia, Chris Warren, and Justin Owens will get their points pretty soon too. Owens transfered from Middlesboro, KY, and is in his 3rd varsity year.

I don't have any stats on Claiborne yet, but I understand that the Bulldogs are 2-0 to start the season. I took some pictures down there last Thursday, and the Bulldogs appear loose and ready to go. Nickell was playing Phi Slamma Jamma for the cameras.
