Clinic Bowl

The reason I would propose it for the next season is because they played the Clinic Bowl during week 0 last year, that and Ronnie Carter will not let any single game take away from his 8 state title games. Playing it in week 0 doesn't really put the State Champs against each other just those 2 schools, kind of like a consulation game for the fans. Like I said haven't worked all the details out was looking for other input to see if we could get the idea make sense.

I don't think a matchup has been established yet. A few months back, I had heard a potential MBA vs. Louisville Male matchup, but I haven't see any more development on that front.

What about MBA vs Byrnes in a rematch of this years Clinic Bowl? Would MBA like to have another shot at Byrnes or would Riverdale, Maryville, or Oak Ridge like to have an opportunity to play the Rebels?

As you are well aware, MBA will not shy away from anyone. With that said, the Byrnes game was a one-shot deal, established before the game was even played. I believe Byrnes has a game set up with Hoover (AL) in 2006 that precludes the Rebels from coming back to Nashville.

Memphis actually does somthing smart ... they take the best 3 DII schools in Memphis the previous year and pair them up with a good DI-4A or 5A school

Last year

MUS vs Bolton

Briarcrest vs Melrose

CBHS vs White Station

If they did it here

MBA vs Riverdale

BA vs Ravenwood

JP II vs Hillsboro

What Memphis does is called the Bridge Builders Classic, or Bridges Bowl. ( it is called both names) It is a great way to start off the season, as you have the top private school programs, and great 4A and 5A teams. On top of that, it is played in the Liberty Bowl, which is a great expericence for all the players.

Well of course BA and Ravenwood did match up in week 0 this season, and will again next year. Great natural rivalry and drew a huge crowd. Thanks to Coach Rector for scheduling it. I really do believe it helps teams in the long run to schedule tough opponents early.

That is a great event in Memphis each year. I think the Clinic Bowl was (and will be) intended to match up local powerhouses, and certainly that concept would draw a big crowd.

...but it won't happen, as we know.

    • I believe that was last year. I was interested in the Jones vs Baker comment, so I went back and looked at GC. I am not a fan of either nor am I a baseball guru. This looks like to me the duel was not close and if the errors would not have been made Eagleville would have won. I assume you are a little biased. I do think your mph for Jeffcoat and Baker must be from last year.  Baker-85 pitches 67 strikes. 5.2 innings, 5H, 1BB, 0ER and 7K's. 3 errors  Jones- 78 pitches 37 strikes. 4 innings, 2H, 5BB, 0ER and 1K. 1 error   Adams and the UH kid are really good as well. What about South Pitt and Oakdale? I heard they have some good ones.
    • I hate this for all the kids in the program and fans alike. I can't recall of anything like this before in my lifetime but I'm sure it isn't a first. After criminal investigations are complete and the TSSAA looks into this the program it will be facing Nuclear Winter for some time to come. It's always the innocent left behind that end up paying the price for something someone else has done. I'm sure the transfer portal will be very active in Clinton over the summer months. How could you find a good coach worth his salt that would take on a situation like this not knowing what will happen.
    • I’ve seen Jeffcoat in person twice and he was 84-87 both times and the one time I saw Baker he was low 80’s, he actually got out dueled by Jones from ER in that outing.
    • Pirate fans, thread is up on the baseball message board.
