Loc Tran (bradley central) vs. (I think) Darren McKnight (Redbank)

Match a few years ago where an athlete (maybe 171) jumped up off the guy with a couple seconds left thinking he had won. The guy got the escape, went into overtime and won. Crazy match. Someone help me out with the names.

Luke Sanders (Mont. Central) winning a questionable title two years ago was also a lot of fun to watch.

Hands down best heavyweight match Pennington v. Crosby

That was actually Keyonsay Moore (Cleveland) vs Eric Watkins (Farragut) at 215

very heartbreaking for some, great for others, and others just laughed.....

The match you are referring to, was Keyonsay Moore from Cleveland, not sure who he was wrestling. Moore jumped up to celebrate with 2 seconds left. OT other guy won. The score at the time that Moore let him up was 2-1. Crazy!!

I know keyonsay, and i've talked to him about it, and it doesnt really seem to be a big deal to him. i mean i know that it hurt then, and there's still that what if factor, but he doesnt dwell on it. its not a sore subject with him, he'll talk about it. he says he heard the ref counting back points and he got to three which should have meant there would be 2 points coming, thats your ballgame, but he jumped up, ref gave no points, lose in ot. that has to feel awful.

I had a great view of that match and there was NEVER a count. The referee did wave his hand back and forth several times, but he wasn't signalling a count. His signal was to explain that he had not yet broken the plane for him to begin the count. His signal was more of an up and down waive as opposed to the backpoints count. It was a great match though! Keyonsay actually stayed at my apartment for a while before leaving to go warm up. He was great friends with my roomate Quantel.

1985 126# Walter Batey (McGavock) vs Jimmy Lynch (McCallie) 2X State Champion (No D1 or D2 everyone was together for a true champion) Both of these wrestlers were great athletes that were about 5'4", jacked up like Mr. Universe and appeared to cut from about 150# down to weight. Lynch won the match but it was a war like I have never seen in Tennessee high school wrestling. The official didn't try to control the match and allowed the wrestler the opportunity to do their thing which was get physical.

Was this not the same year & weight that 2X state champion Scott Garfinkle took 3rd or 4th in the state?

Yes it was!

Getting back to the match. I talked about this match just last week. Walter was a head throw specialist but, Lynch locked off 3 ro 4 times and rolled through. Talk about clash of the titans. My father and I were sitting next to EJ(doc) Kreis. Doc was amazed at how physical these two were. Walter as a junior won a bench press comp benching 240 @ 138lbs. Lets look at this weight class. Jimmy cut to 26 from 32 the previous year. Oh and he was a state champ. Look at the weight classes from 26 to 38. Walter Batey, Jimmy Lynch, Scott Garfinkle @ 26. Donnie Fuller I believe is his name @32. Johnny Drennon @ 38. Didn't Chris Mullins win @ 45 that year. Whew talk about a serious state tourney.
